California knows what's best for me. I most definitely did not tune my 500 and throw the bs evap system, reeds and stock exhaust in the garbage lol.

@@metalofthedeath something about the soothing sounds of John Denver tends to understate the fact that even a KTM 500 dual sport will wheelie in almost any gear with just a twist of the throttle
For people in California, do not worry about legalities regarding what equipment you put on your 500. Half the shit they don't even enforce. I got a 500 because I can ride it offroad all year long, I can do whatever I want to it and no one will bother me. Dirt bike magazine has to say that to cover their ass if some idiot gets in trouble and tries to blame them for it in a lawsuit.
Do they even check your smog controls and make you run the bike through emissions in CA?
@panthersblow motorcycles don't need to be ran through smog in california.
@@drpork1360 Maryland doesnt either, but they are starting to make it harder for bikes that do not come with those controls to get tagged. Especially for 2nd hand owners.

Got a 24 FE501S. Raising the idle a bit with the red knob helped reduce flameouts.
Do you do Supercross Whoops on your DualSport?...so WHY do they keep shoving this overweight, Rigid crappy frame at us?! Hell, they even stuck it on the 125's and gained 6lbs for nothing the normal user needs or wants. Next, they will move production to their Indian or Chinese Plant while STILL charging a fortune. I'll stick with the '08 and '15 which will both outpower this plugged up mess. KTM...get it together and go back to simpler, cheaper and LIGHTER bikes. We don't need 17 maps, traction control, dual Airbags and lane assist!
I have a 2021 KTM 350 excf and absolutely love it 8000 miles on it dual sport riding with zero issues apart from lose mirrors the frame feels fine to me 🤷♂️

2018-2022 frames were unquestionably the best motors aré stupid reliable and maintenance intervals are double if not triple what the manual indicates. You’re tripping giving you the maps and control options literally means you get 9 bikes in one…. Clown comment by a clown rider
@@christophervillarreal8565 You didn't address the frame issue or the fact my 15 will stomp a 24 no matter WHAT map setting you choose. Sure I like new bikes, but I don't want to pay a fortune for features that don't improve it, like 7 pounds of steel in the 24 frame. You are right, the frame was excellent until NOW...and that was my point.

California knows what's best for us all and is ALWAYS correct. It is so progressive and inclusive. The entire county must follow their lead and not question its authority and governance. I love California and Gavin Newsome. We must also remove the 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendments and stop driving motorized vehicles, move to the city, and only eat bugs and GMO fruits and vegetables 😂

The stock tune is about 20x better than my stock 2020 tune. KTM should have never told people they made the frame stuffer. I guarantee these reviewers wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Bone stock the 2024 is great!
We ride a lot of dirt bikes. Mark Tilley has spent a lot of time on the Kawasaki brands. Travis Fant has spent a lot of time on the KTM brands. Riding the same bikes through generational changes you can tell 100% the difference. So your guarantee isn't a guarantee. You can tell the difference from the new-gen to the previous frame stiffness.
@@DirtBikeMagazine 10-4 I'm not as in tune as them im sure. Seems like it would be really hard to compare without riding both bikes back to back on the stuff Surly you do agree the stock 2024 tune is a lot better with flameouts than the previous gen bikes.
It seems like every single year they come out with a redesign. It’s a stiffer frame. I remember when they were known for having a different feeling frame.

My bank account hates it, but I love my 2024 500exc-f. Its the most fun I have ever had on 2 wheels. Just sucks waiting for the aftermarket folks to catch up to all the changes. Still waiting on a decent tank upgrade option.

$14k OTD for this bike that several channels posted it over heats, has the reed cage fall out, and the tires arent even balanced so it shakes going down the road.

In my experience the shake is from the poorly balanced engines. Does it still shake when at speed and you let off the throttle and pull in the clutch?
You say 450 in the video?
I’d like to know how the stiff frame will feel in AZ rocky single track. I’m looking at a 350, and a little nervous that it might be too stiff for rocky trails.
The trick with any of the KTMS and especially with new gen is to get them closer to 8-10 hour mark. They really start to feel comfortable and the frame becomes a lot more plush.

Beta is less money, doesn't need mods, has linkage and knobbies, and makes 4 sizes.

Great production but get rid of the awful slow music it ruins the video, we want to hear the engine and exhaust notes. Why do you call it a 450 throughout the video when it clearly says 500 on the bike and KTM doesn't offer the 450 in street legal trim only the 350 EXC-F and 500 EXC-F. The 450 XCF-W is the race version with no DOT or emissions equipment. I'd think an "expert" would know this.
Why do you put a tail tidy on the bike and then claim it is "bone stock"? Yes the screws fall out of the original tail assembly that is added as an afterthought to a dirt bike. Like the the right hand mirror that interferes with the throttle cables if you try to adjust the angle of the front brake lever/assembly to the correct ergonomic angle. At least they improved the key assembly mounting and steering head lock.

It seems that enduro means a street legal off road bike in Europe. In North America enduro is a strictly off road bike/type of racing/riding. Hence the term dual sport for bikes that are also street legal.

From my side, in Europe, there are a lot of people searching this model for a combo between motocross and enduro because there are no longer motocross bikes with license plate… but an exc it’s not the best for mx… if possible when you would do the video touch on this point 😁

I love how every dirt bike review starts with the stock tires..... we get it, stock tires are bad, they should be change immediately. Even if you don't change them immediately, you'd need to change them after like 20-30 hours. Why are we talking about the tires? Maybe we should also talk about the stock engine oil and air filter. These are critical components that must be covered right up front!
You need to understand there are a lot of reviews that change the tires before doing testing. That changes the feel of the bike and how it rides. Sorry you are having a bad day
Don't take offense, its a trend with off road motorcycle reviews. This bike has probably the best fork ever offered on an off road bike straight from the factory. It's also incredibly stable and confidence inspiring in a straight line. Admittedly, this straight line stability is a trade off for a more "stiff" feeling chassis compared to the 2020-2023 vintage of bike. Down side is you get more fatigued (in my experience) with the new chassis, upside is you can pound through rough terrain at higher speeds. It's an amazing new bike from KTM. I think this update has widened the gap between what the EXC-F, XC, and XC-W are best suited for. The 2020-2023 EXC-F bikes were probably better at tight single track, the 2024 is better at wide open terrain. As always, the KTM fun factor is there, despite the stock tires =) @@DirtBikeMagazine

Yeah , I have an 09 KTM 450exc r but if I was going to go modern 500 dualsport, I would go with Beta
the beta is one of the more aggressive out of the box dual sports you can buy for sure
@DirtBikeMagazine the new ktm is way too stiff for my comfort. They are both more capable than I am but much more comfortable on the Beta.

If you let the RPM drop too low where the motor is barely revving while you are riding it, the engine may shut off.
It means Kali forced them to make it so lean it stalls!
