This song was written before there was child proof safety caps on medications, and there was a rash of children that overdosed and died from eating children's aspirin that tasted like candy.
I know this album well. I think that Dead Babies and the next song Killer should be listened to together. There is a deliberate sequence to the album. Try Second Coming and the Ballad of Dwight Fry as another couple of songs that should be listened to together.
Love to see someone diving deeper into the catalog! You should check out some of the other overlooked stuff - like the album Brutal Planet or Along Came a Spider
@@heavymetal101reviews5 No doubt about that! BTW - I take this song to be about murder, not neglect. It seems to be set in a courtroom (based on the outro) and the lyrics are written from different points of view. Mom is saying it was an accident - that little Betty got the aspirin off the shelf and ate them. The opposing voice points out that babies can't do that. Anyway, just my take.
Alice Cooper's concerts were so theatrical, they were great! As a teenager, l was completely mesmerized. l loved this song because it is creepy and cool. l haven't heard it in decades. Now, though, since becoming a mom and grandma, it nearly made me cry.
I'm late to the party here, but I always thought that the use of 'agrophile' in the song is actually a misnomer and the intended word was 'agrophobia' which would mean he was a mental wreck unable to even leave the house
Alice Cooper has an amazing life story. He has completely separated himself from the stage presence of Alice Cooper...even refers to Alice Cooper in the third person. Never heard this one and don't know much besides the hits you mentioned...I'll be experiencing his catalog in the near future 🤘
Some of my friends in the early 70s didn't care for this song at all. Thought it was creepy, etc... I never did. As a boy I heard stories about children getting into the medicine chest, downing a bunch of pills because they thought it was candy. I clearly remember my neighbor's (son) toddler drinking insecticide and almost dying. From listening to the song, I always thought it was about neglectful parents and how their inattention got their children killed.
The trick is that there is not just one meaning to this song, it's layered en you can interpretatate it in different ways.
When I was 14 my Dad listened to this song through my door. He burst in and swore to God he was going to send me to Military School. GREAT MEMORIES!!

Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching! 🤘
Alice Cooper's best album

I definitely want to dive deeper into AC's catalog. I love A LOT of his stuff, but man.... so much music to discover, so little time! - Dustin

I was lucky enough to see him play live several years ago. Thanks for watching!!! 🤘

This song has the most evil sounding base line in rock n roll.
Keep getting this song stuck in my head...
Good!!!

The angle is morbid humor. The first line is "Little Betty ate a pound of aspirin." A pound of aspirin? Who could eat a pound of aspirin?
It means they love public attention, it has several meanings but in this case I think that's what he meant.

Reach out to me if you need a playlist. I'm a big Alice Cooper fan.

Possibly he is singing anglophile which seems to make more sense.
Alice Cooper is from Phoenix, at least he lived there in high school. Is It My Body is great.
He was born in Detroit, and moved to Phoenix around 12 years old I think.
I REALLY like this song! Great reaction 🔥
I was thinking that it said "daddy is an agrophille in Texas" meant something to do with agriculture? Idk?
Thanks for checking out our video! 🤘
I think they wouldn't let him use the word agraphile, so he went with agrophile.
Hall of fame Christian rocker
Agro. As in aggravate.
Phile. As in repeat.
He abuses his wife.
the riff in the song is a old Beatles riff first album I ever bought alohA
Thanks for checking out the video 🤘
A farmer
I'm late to this party but have you checked out Alice singing about Space Pirates yet?
Just a fun tune.
No I haven't! Haha - Dustin
I've often wondered if Alice meant to say agoraphile.
I suppose that's a possibility! We appreciate you watching! 🤘
@@heavymetal101reviews5 contextually it would make more sense
@@waynehawk4747 So it'd be some who likes hanging out in big crowds... like parties, night clubs, etc.
@@heavymetal101reviews5 Yes , the opposite of an agoraphobe
It means he smokes pot all the time.
Great song
