Why so many comments on how many people are recovering the tender? I'm sure they could do it with less but the most important thing is it's done properly and not damaged. Ever heard the saying "Many hands make light work"? Generally nobody works alone as it's a safety issue. Get some experience at sea and then come back to me.

If you own a boat like this a few extra hands to make sure it's done right makes perfect sense!
Chuck Norris would do this by himself with both arms tied behind his back.
But how is it helpful to have more people to get a boat on a lift? Maybe if they were doing this while the boat was moving or in rough water but come on man, this is just embarrassing for the crew.
Like earlier commentors said, someone could have easily been scrubbing the boat down since it is filthy if they were actually trying to be useful. It's fine to be lazy, but don't try to pretend there is some greater good from people standing around doing nothing:)
I have been in vessels with this type of tender recovery. Its great if you're in a harbour and have room to do this - try it in any of the Med ports!!!! Try launching (which is easier) and recovering (damned difficult) these tenders when you're at anchor - absolute nightmare in anything more than 10 kts of breeze, wavelets more than 30cm and any swell at all. Many hands make light work - yes, if you have a 90m yacht with 25-30 crew and 10 deckies plus 4 officers. Try it with 2 deckies and 2 officers. I hated those systems with a passion and spent considerable sums of the owners money trying to improve them. 37 yrs at sea. 15 as a Superyacht captain to 197ft (59m).

Congrats ! I started right before covid when the recession hit. I held those stocks and made a killing. I bought dividend stocks and made a lot during covid.
I'm convinced that the big investors and analysts are trying to scare us to keep us poor and ignorant to the market.. because its steady doing good after all the jobless and market crash talks

Had to laugh about some of the comments wondering why it takes so many people to recover the tiny tender. The tiny tender is actually about 30 feet and if it is a RIVA, you are looking at over one million dollars for it. Nice tiny boat....LOL!!!!!!!!!

What's amazing is you rarely see people enjoying these boats at the docks they all seem empty!
Most of them are chartered because of the immense costs they cause
Believe it or not but many aren’t chartered.
I used to transport a mega yacht and one year that boat only saw the owner for two weeks of the entire year.
Rest of the time the crew had it dockside buffing and polishing to perfection.
@@theyangview1898 you transported a mega yacht? So you are a captain? Mega yacht don´t get shipped by road or rail. I had access to a few ports since one of my family members has a yacht. Most of them are chartered, especially in the mediterran space. Most of the owners cover the expenses that way

That must be a pretty difficult operation when the yacht is not in port and there is a bit of a swell.
Not really. Systems designed to go forward with a maximum of 5 knots. So you pull the swell and have soft water behind. Tender could be driven slightly uphill and then picked with the winch.

@@henryhenry903 - I was in a 30-40 MPH wind trying to load from a lake. I used to use power, and then winch for the last 20% or so. Once I bent a guidepost, I realized that it's best to settle for a good approach, connect and winch aboard, using hands aft, port and starboard, to guide.

By my count there is one person that could be considered superfluous and that is the deckie with the hose, and even he is doing a job. You have the lift and winch operator in white, the guide in white, the deckie connecting the winch (who in my opinion could have done the hose down too), then you have the deckies on the tender, one is driving and the other is spotting.
But by the looks of it they were all getting to know the operation and system, so in the future I wouldn't be surprised if this is just a 3-4 man job and even if it were to remain a 6 man operation, I would rather than than a damaged tender or yacht.
You should be doing play-by-play for ESPN
But James Bond could do it faster on his own, taking out 3 bad guys and wrecked half the boat in the proces

My guess is this gets launched when everything is 'just right'. Perhaps technology taken a little too far?

It wasn't a challenge, it went normally. The tenders can be launched when the yacht is moving, they've also done that many times.
It took 5 minutes and went smoothly and safely…

Not true. I have a good friend who works on boats right now and I've seen footage of him putting boats nice than this one back aboard. Didn't take that long nor have that many people on hand. These guys are just very inexperienced, you can tell.

This is very calm, we had to recover our tender in big swell, and that makes it a totally different game altogether. There were 2 of us. we cold have done with loads more people, when the boat is heading upend down by 1-2 meters. Love the videos by the way. you have inspired me to start my own channel.

I'm sorry...but I'd have expected a more automated system for my buck!
Remotely operated stern hatch, electrical rollers, possibly semi inflatable, that would auto correct the lay of the tender!? The rollers could deflate as the tender is in position to stay steady during high seas.
All you should have to do is to possition the boat, let the first set of rollers grab the bow and pull it on to the cradle..a wire could be available to winch it on if you do this in open waters...
This should have been a one man operation..!

eSysman. You are obviously not up ot speed on rubber compound materials, as they are able to produce materials that will outlast our palnet, even with 25k movements a day. Used in everything ranging from car air suspensinon, oilrigg stabilizers and shiplaunching...

Peter J. If that was a viable option there would be something on the market. Maybe there is now and maybe it would work, but I have no idea. Also this yacht is over 10 years old so 'if' your idea has credit and 'if' there is something on the market then it might get used. Yacht builders are some of the best engineers in the world so they come up with the best solutions.

I know right!!! I imagine that if they (the owners) have the money for that ship, the $$$ for maintenance and crew are problably pocket lint for them. I am quite sure I could get by with a much smaller vessel.

Yeah...that's why there's a guy on the back of the boat saying.....the lower unit hasn't come up yet...that's a sign of a non-experienced boater. WTF...you'd have to be an idiot not to know how to operate the controls to raise the lower units. I've been boating all my life 48 years of 57. Expert........damn straight I am. I've never asked anyone if the lower unit of my boat was raising up out of the water. Any quality boat would have trim gauges...but hey...what do I know.....I'm just a guy that doesn't have a second person telling me if the lower units are coming up or not.. lol
