same here, got a cherry red 86 with a 2 inch cowl hood, recently did a compression test and found out I have a blown headgasket between 2 cylinders, time for a head gasket replacement, yay! Drove it for 7 years before that lol
A small block chevy loves to rev, a manual is the only way to fly, I love dropping the cutch at 4000 rpm and burning rubber in the first three gears god bless SBC!!!!!!!!!
I have a 84 Chevy c-20, 350ci , 4 speed. At this time having new crate engine installed with performance intake with headers. Should peak around 260hp. . Can't wait to get it on the highway. It's been a ride, sometimes hard to find certain parts. Life's an adventure👍✌

shroudedunity ill have to get the papers out on the cam and find out, 2 no they for a while where Edelbrock high performance power heads, and 3, its not all that bad, the 4.11 gears sucked on the highway, but cruising around at 45-50 didnt waste too much fuel, keeping my foot out of it was the problem, i estimate around 12
Whoever installed them harnesses didnt know what they was doing. NEVER bolt them to the floor. If u get into a wreck it will compress ur spin and cause more damage then good. Do your research people.

@@kCI251 if U are using it as a drag racing truck. Less work to put the power down the track. Easier to transbrake. To get quicker off the starting line.
Howard's rattler cam will get u that sound or a comps thumper cam. They will still retain some low end power but many cams big duration cams can give u a lobe easily but the bigger the cam the farther up the torque curve will move in rpm and u loose vacuum and drivability. U gotta match your cam to your build because its easy to over cam going for the lobe that we all love. For a daily driver with mild or stock 350 look into the cams I suggested above there made to have the best of both worlds for daily drivers and they have 3 different levels of them. Both are awesome cams if u want lope and low end power
my gas gage did the same thing but there is a wire that goes on top of the gas tank reach up through the finder to move the wire around and there ur gas gage is fixed.
Looks like a street truck to me in which case the cam is too aggressive. The single plane intake isn't the smartest move either. Yeah it's cool but the powerband must be fucked haha
Exactly, Preston! I see this shit all the time, too much cam, too much intake volume, not enough torque converter, and too tall of gear in the rearend. It'll sound good at an idle, foul the plugs when you put it in gear, power brakes won't work worth an damn, and the POS won't get out of it's own way when you stomp the pedal...

I have a 95 suburban and a 95 gmc 1500. The gmc has some kind of old school 60s 70s engine with a 2 piece rear seal that eats off a tbi and jet chip. It has 4 bolts in the middle of the valve cover tho so I think they are vortec or lt1 heads. The truck does 4wd burnouts and the suburban wont move with the brakes on. My neighbor gave me a mexican 350 crate motor I want to build with a cam n carb for either of the two. Was that truck straight piped? I have a flowmaster 70 series on the truck since the 40 or 50 series I had was obnoxiously loud. I went for 95 gm vehicles to avoid the 96 and up computers and crap along with the high cost of replacement engines. Do you know anything about what kind of stock heads I can put on a 350 with a cam to make good power? My neighbor has some older heads, but I just want to build something for the suburban. That way I can pull the check engine light bulb and build my mexican crate motor with a carb and cam to put in it like I did my 96 town car with a 302.

+Jay Smart Those heads are factory early model "Double Hump" heads without accessory bolt holes. A decent head for a mild build.

Same I got a 91 350

They will still retain some low end power but many cams big duration cams can give u a lobe easily but the bigger the cam the farther up the torque curve will move in rpm and u loose vacuum and drivability. U gotta match your cam to your build because its easy to over cam going for the lobe that we all love. Check the wiring going to your gas sending unit, it is a tan colored wire. I had the same problem with my C10.

"perfect time" (2013?) to swap fuel gauge with tach location since fuel doesn't work. You can get a nice large tacho to fill the space.

bad grounding wire on the back of the cluster and then one on the fusebox. causing interference when power was applied

Bad ground to the fuel sending unit makes the gage peg way past full, mine did the same thing.
With these trucks that seemed to be a very common issue that or the printed circuit board would burn out
