    I love the series of videos! So clear, so concise. Really inspiring Lenja! I'm glad I found you channel. Can't wait to convert my van really soon. I hope travelling is all well!
    Kind regards

    Your attention to detail is amazing, and ive been a carpenter for 30 years and your woodworking is excellent!

    Should have put furring strips on and then you can screw into that. This is better than the gluing and avoids excessive holes drilled into the metal of the van.

    Interested in seeing how well the glue holds once it starts experiencing chassis flex as you travel down the road. But then again, the tongue and groove wood slats might let just enough 'movement' to happen in relation to each other to allow the individual boards to not get pinched and pull each other from the wall due to the metal chassis twisting forces. Either way, let us know how it holds up, as your design certainly is a way quicker install method.
    Enjoy your videos and your fun personality. :)

      Thank you! 😊 I already encountered a couple of problems with the glue right after that (see next episode). I'll give a final review about the gluing method once I have some experience driving around with the cladding but I can already say that it didn't hold up as well as I thought it would...

    Another great video! I wasn't able to watch this on Sunday as usual - not because of time but because it was too traumatic! Unusually for me, I was doing some home maintainance which was (obviously) going horribly wrong, and I couldn't face the huge difference in competence!

      Thanks! Well, I'm glad you got yourself to watch my video anyway! 😄 And I think you'll be able to relate to my next episode then because that features a rather traumatic experience of mine 🙈 Thanks for watching, as usual! 😊

      @@lifeoflenja390 Oh OK! My reaction might be uncharacteristic selfish! Honestly, I did three jobs on Sunday and they ALL went wrong. Not even hard stuff - two bits of painting and some tile grout! I couldn't bear to watch something more advanced!
      On a related note, your previous insulation video has inspired me to look into insulating my shed!

    Hi Guys! I'm amazed of the idea of glue the cladding to the wall. Must be super strong glue! It's ofcourse good not to drill any holes in the metal.Did you glue the wood against the aluminium tape?? Hmmmm.... Time will tell if they stay in place. Regards Rickard

    • @lifeoflenja390
      @lifeoflenja390  5 років тому +1

      Yeah I did glue it to the aluminium tape in some spots and you're right, it didn't hold up very well there 🙈 I'll give a full review about the gluing method once I have some experience driving around with the cladding! Thanks for watching! 😊

      @@lifeoflenja390 well Leña your intention was good! I've studied many Van builts for a long period of time now, and no one has ever used the glue! I think it's a wonderful idea but it's hard to realise because the Van is moving, unlike a house. In future maybe you also want to attach something on the walls, a shelf etc.. A tip is to watch the channel : Mel's Van World He has many good ideas even though he seam a bit crazy, but only at first, he is smart! I have also a Van... a Ford Transit Bus , I'm going to insulate and put cladding soon. 😱👍❤Regards Rickard.

    Quarter inch plywood or hardboard backing and epoxy over glue . If you don't want to see any screws .

      @@lifeoflenja390 I worked in a van conversion shop for a couple years back in their early eighties and that's how we did everything . 90% of all finishes were attached to quarter inch plywood . Templates were made and kept with quarter inch Hardwood . We used metal snaps back then the male was always attached to the metal of the van or bus with screws the female was attached to the panel usually with a rivet . Allowing quick and easy replacement of any panel receiving damage .
      glues work well for furniture things that aren't moved often , ship grade epoxy is what's needed in the build of any vessel for durability . While I was there we had three vans come in for complete remake , from a few years before . having the templates made it so easy and quick to make the changes and get them out the door . And a Wiz to every other van or bus of the same make model and year coming in for conversion . I truly believe removable panels what are held in place with the proper fasteners is the way to go for Less headaches down the road . And of course epoxy over glue . something to truly think about if you're going to host pets kids and gests . trying to build things permanent in a vessel will bring more headaches down the road .
      strong but easily removable is definitely the way to go .

      After finally finishing your video (I'm at work so I cant always watch it it one go), i can say that i really enjoyed your music choice in this episode! Also, the walls are looking great! If I didnt live across the great blue pond I'd come help you out. I've never worked on a van before, but I've built many houses.

      Thanks! I wasn't sure about the music since it is a little different to what I had in my travel videos; I thought the old music didn't really match the van build content. I'm glad to hear you like it! You're helping me already with your support here on UA-cam (sounds cheesy but it's true)! :)

    Hi Lenja. Did you just glue cladding to reflectix?! Glue may rip alu stuff off and what's most important reflectix to work needs air gap, if there is not, the reflectix becomes conductor. Looking forward for more your videos!

    • @lifeoflenja390
      @lifeoflenja390  5 років тому +1

      Hi! I tried not to but I wasn't successful in all cases... And I guess you're right about the reflectix, I should have left an air gap! Thanks for the advice and for watching! :)

    I am sorry but I am so confused, did you just glue the tongue and groove to your vapour barrior? with no nails? or no wall studs behind the cladding? that doesn't seem very strong. So at the time of writing you have had your van now for 1 year and 8 months, is it still holding strong? Thank you :)
