    Luke Ayling was quietly omitted from the team vs Swansea. I didn’t notice and I’ll tell you why!
    But, is this the end at Leeds United for number 2?

    Was at the game and noticed when they called out the squad. Not surprised. As soon as Spence was back in the squad then I didn’t expect Luke back.
    Keep him until end of season unless he wants out but I’m guessing he will just want to be around to help the push for promotion back to the Premier.
    A colleague of mine spoke to him after last season and he said as much. He was hurt like Coops by the relegation and his only thought was to get the club back and he did confide that he wasn’t ready to give up yet but my colleague picked up that Luke knows himself that his days were numbered.
    If he gets his badges, with his undoubted enthusiasm he would make a valuable member of staff.

    Best wishes to Ayling in all his endeavors and thank you to him for helping the team in other ways (morale, for example)! He had this time in the sun with us going up and then finishing 9th, now is a great time for him to further honor his amazing achievements with our club by supporting the next phase!

    Hi Kagey, I consider myself in many ways an old guard apologist, though I'm not blind to their shortcomings. I didn't notice at all that Bill wasn't in the squad. That might because I'm obsessed with Djed and have been for sometime. Bill didn't cross my mind until Farke spoke post match. Farke's comments were lovely and he's handling this really well 🤍💙💛

      @@tanyajacobs9974 I strongly suspect he’d play Byram at RB and Firpo at LB before Ayling gets a go, too. He should have been phased out after the end of the season we finished 9th. That was a mistake. Marsch did at least acknowledge this issue but sadly the replacement wasn’t up to much. He’s only here this season because he triggered an automatic appearance-related 12 month extension.

    Shackleton wasn't in the squad but has been used ahead of Ayling. Ayling is now 4th choice RB, there's no way back for him now. He must know it & he can take it with grace & move, or he'll look for a community project to remind us of what a nice guy he is, knowing that this is all that's needed for some of the fanbase to demand the club give him a new contract.

    It's sad, but it's time. The fact that Farke is willing to start moving out the old guard is encouraging to me. Already, we're in this phase where the squad is beginning to be remade with all of our new transfers, and it's time for some players (read: deadweight, as ruthless as that is) to either take a step back from the field or move on (read: when Bamford goes I'll be singing Bye Bye Bye by the Backstreet Boys). I hope Luke Ayling finds another important role in maybe a lesser league or steps back with Cooper to become a lockerroom leader more so than a player. I see him continuing to stick around for this season to try and get us promoted, but beyond that I hope we move him on. Great stream Kagey!

    I’d let Ayling have the choice of leaving in Jan or seeing out his contract to try leave on a high, but no way should he be at Leeds as a player next season. If there’s an off field role in the future I’d love for him to come back to the club though as a coach in the youth setup which I think he’d be great for.

    Hi Kagey
    I'm liking your channel
    I agree with you and will raise you one
    Let's assume that last night's starting 11 is out best team, which it more or less is. If Farke doesn't rotate much (which he seems not to) then many of the subs won't get too much game time. Add to that the fact that the most-used subs seem to be Antony and Gnonto.
    Given all that, what I would prefer him to do is put Spence, Gray and Shacka ahead of Luke. I would also prefer Cresswell and even maybe Hjlede ahead of Cooper. And I would prefer Joffy and Joseph ahead of Bamford.
    My rationale is that those players (Ayling, Cooper, Bamford) are not likely to be used that much and are unlikely to be game-changers when they do get minutes. So it's quite low risk to use the younger alternatives on the bench, and the upside is greater as they may develop into worthy players
    It's more obvious with Ayling (since Spence and Gray are clearly better) but I would rather Farke also gives chances to the likes of Cresswell, Joffy etc. who so far have not had enough of a chance IMO. Maybe Farke has decided in training that they aren't good enough. If so fair enough. But we've seen how Gray has kicked on and there's good reason to at least give the others a chance and accept that Cooper, Ayling and Bamford need moving on.
    Whilst I am on the topic, I am one of those rare pro-Firpo people. I think he is ok for the Championship. But maybe he also does need replacing now. I think him and Byram (and Shacka if needed) can cover left back this season but promotion is the aim and none of those are really good enough (or are too injury prone) at the top level. Maybe we wait until summer or maybe Jan we get a LB. But for me, if we do so, he must be Premier League quality, loan if need be or perm if poss. If we can get a left back the equivalent of Ampadu it would be great. By that I mean a good, young player who is never going to get a chance at a top half prem club but would suit us. Not sure who, but there must be someone
    What's your view on that Kagey?

  • @hansgruber1686
    @hansgruber1686 7 місяців тому

    IMHO Luke Ayling is still an option but should slowly slip into an assistent manager role or some such, he is getting on agewise but at the same time a very good and important influence to the players. I think he is one of the cases where the switch from player to the managerial bench could and possibly should be seamless, same goes for Cooper. They have seen a lot at Leeds up to the PL and are therefor good rolemodels and mentalitywise really good.

  • @jeremywentworth1833
    @jeremywentworth1833 7 місяців тому

    Ayling as truly been a brilliant servant of the club but his times definitely up, can't say I noticed until it's been mentioned, I'm positive he will stay while end of the season. He's definitely not done with football yet he could drop down a league and do a job. Don't think after playing in the premier League he's done it and won't actually mind playing in a lower league. Bamford should follow him out of the door Cooper as well. Stuie Dallas wonder when he's fit if he can still perform let's hope so or he's sadly going to have to go as well.

  • @helvete983
    @helvete983 7 місяців тому +1

    Ayling is 32 now, he no longer has the tools for the role required, in my opinion not even as cover.
    I love the guy but he'd be better off going to Farke and bringing up the question of if there is a role for him in the club if he goes out and gets his FA coaching badges.
    There is no doubt he's a motivator and I can see him behind the scenes at the club then being a part of the coaching staff at some level.
    I don't know his mental state with regards to playing further, but I don't doubt he could do a job for someone in League one because by God we've already seen some awful players who are likely to be in League One next season. But yeah Luke sorry mate time to hang up those boots as a Championship player.

    Our recruitment and general team-handling strategy seems much more professional under Farke and Hammond. Let’s not forget that Hammond built a Champions League level team for Newcastle while spending a fraction of what “the big six” have spent. Finally starting to look like a professional club instead of Feelings FC. Big up for shinning a light on this, Kagey 🫶🏻
