    I read on DIYVAN to use the flexseal or dicor to finish sealing the adapter to the roof. Did you guys ever do that or just the bead of window weld did the trick ?

    • @moonrakerdesign
      @moonrakerdesign  Рік тому

      We did FlexSeal over top on the Maxxfan install video since there’s screws through for mounting there. I was thinking about it on the A/C, but honestly after inspecting the Windoweld after it dried it sealed around the edges really well. So far it’s been holding up great with no issues. If you are worried about it the FlexSeal is pretty cheap insurance.

    Thanks! I watched dozens of RTX 2000 install videos, some from pro builders and you are the ONLY one that showed pre drilling the holes for the brackets and trim! Some may not think to do that. My RTX is sitting in my home waiting for my sprinter to be delivered and I was searching for this! Glad I found your video in time. Great job!👍

      HELP! Todd, I’m ready to order the RTX2000 adapter from DIY van but confused on the measuring process. Amazingly, I’m installing it exactly where you put yours! I came up with bay 7?, the next bay forward from the bay by the rear doors. not sure of the inches as the roof supports are visible in the van. There is only one place to install it in each bay unless you want put it on the drivers or passenger side. I’m going with the center of course.
      If you had a 170 I could just use your measurements. 😁Help??? 2024 170 sprinter.

      @@rod8073 Hey Rod we have a 144 and ordered Bay 5 18.5". I"m not exactly sure how this translates to a 170. I would give DIY Van a call to clarify what you need. Both Hein and Kim over there are super helpful. I don't want to give you incorrect info.

      I know. Thanks a lot for always responding. I don’t understand the measuring since the AC can only fit between the roof supports. I would call your adapter “ bay 5 center” or something. And measuring from the top while not knowing where the supports are is confusing as well. Also the diagram they show is for all 3 sprinter lengths. Is bay 8 just for the extended? I want the next bay in front of the very back. Not sure how anyone can figure it out. I called but got an answering machine. I’ll try again Monday. Thanks again! 👍🚐

      @@rod8073 yeah I think they need to clean it up a bit and have 144 and 170 split out as completely separate products with their own documentation. Even if there's overlap it would make it a lot clearer for people.
      Anyways I hope they can sort you out, and sorry I wasn't able to help more, I just don't want to give you the wrong information.

    Thanks very much for you detailed tutorial on this install we did exactly as you did with the spacers. However we are at the point where we need to do just as you did with the custom fab bar. Any luck on posting that video we’d love to see it! Great job

      Hey Jonathan, thanks for stopping by and for the kind words! Glad to hear you are following the same route! We ended up posting our video of those custom fabricated bracket here -> ua-cam.com/video/avUskaaj7Qs/v-deo.html. Admittedly, the way we manufactured them does take some specialized tools but I think you could do something pretty similar with a metal cutting jig saw (or even hacksaw) if you used square bar stock for the counterbore bits instead of the round ones we turned on the lathe. Let us know if you have any questions and thanks again.

    Nice install. Just a tip for your toolbox. Grab a set of countersink bits for your drill, and kiss your holes with them as a way of deburring non-uniformly much more easily than the deburring whip you've shown.

      Hey thanks for stopping by, subscribing, the kind words and you are right so I think it’s a great tip. The countersink is much more suited for cleaning up these holes. Unfortunately I didn’t have one big enough at the time of making this video so I used the deburring tool. I’ve since bought a set as you can see in the Maxxfan video! Thanks again!

    The RTX2000 is $2300, way too expensive which forced me to look for alternative. Now i found a split system that i can install under the van for $900. Best yet, i can use the roof area for more solar panels.

      Hey @AZRockRunner that’s great and the wonderful part about building a van, you can choose the options that work for you and your goals. It would help everyone in your same situation if you’d share the information of the product you’ve found!
      The RTX2000 is no doubt a big investment, but it’s from a brand we trust and from our previous experiences with Dometic we’ve had great customer service and know they stand behind their products and make quality stuff. I often find in the long run, for me, that’s worth paying for.

I'm redoing the bracket design to make it more manufacturable an overall less expensive for everyone interested in them. @moonrakerdesign  7 місяців тому

      Hey Mike, thanks for the kind words and for stopping by. I use the Ingersoll Rand P4FS-6 blades. I swap blades after each project and on the bigger cuts like windows and flares I do a fresh blade per side.
      You could also try P4EV-6 if you wanted something a little more coarse, but I’ve never used them.

    Hello Hello !! What do you think about the Nomadic X3 48v?

    • @moonrakerdesign
      @moonrakerdesign  5 місяців тому

      It’s super nice, especially if you are doing a 48VDC power system. It wasn’t around and higher voltages weren’t that popular when I put my AC in. I think if I were to do it again. I’d seriously consider a Nomadic even 12VDC just because of the lower stack height. Having to raise the AC up to save the interior height isn’t as elegant of a solution.

    • @bj231bj
      @bj231bj 5 місяців тому

    • @moonrakerdesign
      @moonrakerdesign  Рік тому +1

    Will this ac run with a Bluetti AC200P (2000wh) using the 12v/10a connection? Or does this have to be connected to the driving battery in a Promaster 3500?

    • @moonrakerdesign
      @moonrakerdesign  Рік тому +2

      Hey Funzee, it will not. The max continuous power draw is up to 54 Amps and Dometic recommends a 80A breake inline. It will not run on the driving battery either, you need a dedicated house battery setup. I would say 200AH lithium MINIMUM and probably better off in the 400-600AH range if you are looking to run it for extended periods of time.
