Hi D. I've never seen this method of leaving the male with the fry for that many days; I usually remove the male 1 or 2 days after the fry hatch. One of the reasons why the fry die is that during the formation of the labyrinth organ, the fry transition from gill breathing to gulping air. If the air temperature is lower than that of the water the fry will develop mucus and suffocate; covering the container reduces these losses considerably. Hope this helps :)
can u explain it with easy and mor understandable way
I'll try Suguna Sugu... When betta fry are born they use the oxygen in the water. After several days they begin to form an organ inside of their head called a labyrinth. This organ is what allows bettas and other anabantidae species like gouramis to gulp air from above rather than having to depend upon the oxygen in the water. This process takes a couple of weeks to complete and it is during this time that the fry can die if the air temperature is colder than the temperature of the water. The fry will develop mucus and they will suffocate. I hope this explanation helped.
yh i understood tq
Are you guys stil growing fry i just started i have had 3 batches die

My medhod after breeding is for 3-4days I let the male betta in the breeding tank. After I remove the male betta then I feed them with artemia. After a week I will start give them daphina(water fleas)
After the fry age is 2.5 weeks i will move them to a fish tank(I put 2-3spawn in the tank I put the rest of the other in a pool) (I usually breed 10-15 pairs of betta). After they fry about 1-1.5month old I am start giving them tubifex and daphina at the same time.
After the fry about 2months old I start to seperate them.
After they got seperate I feed them with tubifex/adult brine shrimp(artemia) I feed the female with tubifex worms. Then just do this over and over until they are 4 months old. After they are 4 months old I sell them to fish shop
owner, hobbyist, etc. I usually breed koi betta, normal halfmoon but every time I breed halfmoon, most of the fry is super red and fire, blue rim, black cooper, red dragon, and nemo koi. So that is my medhod :)
I also breed flowerhorn, oscar, and vannamei shrimp.
You have very good communication skill...
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Looks great you take really good care of them. I’ve been feeding mine micro worms. Micro worms are really easy to take care of just yeast oatmeal water that’s it.
Very educational. I like how you go into detail compared to others
Hey, Dexter. I Love ur channel.. And mostly ur fishes especially ur Bettas.
when I first started I couldn't breed them easily but by the fifth or sixth time I was able to be successful. although only 9 lived. I hatched and raised two koi and bought another to breed with my 6 month old female koi so I am hoping I am able to breed many koi bettas
Gorgeous Bettas! Do you ship them? I’d love to purchase some different varieties
Thanks dexter the great !!! This video helps me so much.

I just wanna say Gracias for this tips, able to breed my bettas, but sad to say only 23 of the fry survive 20 days old now, because of this useful tips my my bettas are doing great, thanx again, and more power.
Hi Dexter! I learnd a lot of from you. Thank you.
What if sir we don't have daphnia and brient shrimps?...
What to do?....
Hoping for your answer thank you
Boil an egg and use the yolk. Mix the yolk with water before you feed the fry.
Lien Reyes brine shrimp are better than daphania
You can use green water for very young fry. Brine shrimp eggs are sold in almost every pet store just ask. Very easy to hatch.

I have followed your methods so far and I now have beta babies. It's the 4th or 5th day now and just took out the daddy. Now to make sure they all make it. Small brood of 15 or so. 3rd times a charm. Thank you Dexter. Love your videos. Great info.
how to choose the responsible betta father can we feed microworms to fry?
Yes you can feed with microworms.
You can feed Microworms and Baby Brine Shrimp to Fry
Daphnia is also a good food to feed
breeding betta is not a big task, surviving and raising is difficult, i am not able to find live food as i reside in city areas no ponds nearby. please update alternative methods for making the fry.
RAVINDRA DESK buy a micro worm culture on eBay. Feed twice or three times a day small amounts from the culture. Like a Q-tip

Dear Dexter I'm an American living in Taiwan and I recently purchased to bettas. First I was told that bettas don't need a large space and yeah I can change the water every 3 days. Second they said feed the fish every 2 days.
After my first fish died from tail rot I went out I bought a good air pump and filter I have the proper environment my tank has been cycling course I cleaned everything and then did that.
My second fish he's been with me for two weeks he's been healthy he's got an air pump and a filter everything is clean and I do a water change once a week maybe 30% and then I change the water at the end of the week but he developed Popeye he has a little bit of white around half of his eye it's not too bad but what I'm really wondering is why do the pet store bettas keep dying?.
Once I cycled my tanks I also put in good bacteria I've got a plant and everything I can think of to make their environment comfortable I tried getting a heater but the heaters in Taiwan are not suitable for bettas they said that bettas don't need heaters so I really don't know what to do.
I want to know what is the best way to prevent illness since Taiwan doesn't have almond leaves is there something I can use that's natural that will keep infection out of my tanks even though I use a filter and air pump and special chemicals that prevent fish loss and keep ammonia and nitrates down
I think it's the water problem. Don't use direct tap water without putting them outdoor (prefer with direct sunlight) for 1-2 days so that the chlorine in the water will evaporate. Otherwise use the air stone with pump to circulate the water for 30 minutes u get the same result. Never use mineral or drinking water too. Age water like what I mention above is the best. All the best to you.
Thank you for.good information poh godbless poh tanong kulang poh my online shipping kayu,?thanknyou ulit
