Zerex G05 Yellow coolant is the way to go for Jeep/Chrysler

Update to that info: Chrysler changed that from 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokees to the OAT formula which is usually red/pink - but 2012 and below use HOAT and I recommend the Zerex G05
Did not think you needed to use RTV gasket sealer?
Use G05 coolant or red coolant from dealership using the wrong coolant can damage internal metal and plastic parts or premature waterpump failure
@azhiker777 mine had the dealer recommended, and still my pump failed. Also, the coolant was muddy

Use no sealant unless directed to do so in the instructions, make sure all sealing surfaces are clean and free of burs, debris, etc., install two or three studs in the engine as guides to install the gasket and pump, after installing several bolts (finger tight) remove studs, install remaining bolts, and proceed with PROPER torque sequence and installation

The use of sealing paste in the water pump is only necessary in those that are supplied without a gasket. Otherwise, if we add sealant when it is not needed, we will cause any particle of sealing paste that circulates through the cooling circuit coming from the pump gasket, which may affect the functionality of the dynamic seal, preventing the correct sealing function and causing a failure premature of it.
Incorrect use of sealing paste will directly affect the life expectancy of the water pump. Therefore, unless specified or referenced without a gasket, avoid the use of sealants.

Quick question once I put everything together do I add coolant and let it bled woth the car on or off?
I open the bleeding valve while is off antil you see the coolant come out then close the valve run the engine fot about 20 minutes let it cold down and just check the coolant level with the engine off
Red coolant is used.
you do not need the silicone with that type of gasket.

I have 2022 grand Cherokee with 23k and the water pump just went. Of course the dealer changed under warranty. But it is quite disappointing to change water pump so early on. If this happened now, what next? Then comes the phasers, rockers, at a later time. Who knows if they had a good fix for them over the years. I highly doubt it. cheap parts all around.
Had the same issue just after my warranty expired. I guess there's an issue with this pumps.. also my dealer antifreeze was muddy
29,000 on 2019 first water pump needed to be replaced. 36,000 need a new water pump. All covered under powertrain but a little concerning. Sold my 2002 Tahohe with 280,000 no issues with powertrain.
They are using the cheapest parts possible. Shame on them.

The tensioner shouldn’t be able to push aside with one hand… at a bad angle……right??????
The darn thing might not even be spinning the water pump , making it fail due to everything else pushing pressurized coolant into it with no way to spin.
Worst water pump on any vehicle I. My opinion but if your lucky your lucky to have your working for 5 years or more I have a 2017 with only 1700km hardly drives and already changed the water pump twice there seem to have to same leaking from behind the pully

@@james197016what did you end up doing. I bought am Oreillys w lifetime about 2 years ago…about to replace it as it started leaking & overheated my jeep. Don’t know if an Oem would’ve been the way to go on this one. Been buying lifetime auto parts from Oreillys / autozone / advanced auto for years

I changed the thermostat on my Cherokee but it keeps overheating, maybe it’s cuz I don’t purge it? Or water pump it’s going bad?
