The concept of mini-retirement changed my life. I'm no longer waiting for some retirement paradise when I'm 65. It helps to know how to fund the lifestyle. You know, making money while you sip that piña colada by the beach does help. I wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise.
Yeah, people miss that part. You don't jet out to Puerto Rico with your life savings. Proper investing and a good business acumen are big pluses. Invest in the stock market, real estate, build businesses. That's just it.
Safe to say not everybody has the skill to pursue investing. But it's always easy to follow the advice of someone who knows how to i.e a financial advisor. You could anywhere between 10--40k with the right ones. Online businesses are a good bet too if you are savvy.

I’m only 48 so still have a ways to go but I’m appreciating all the good insight from your videos. I’m definitely gonna try to do a good balance of saving for retirement and enjoying the things I want to do while I’m still able. Keep up the good work!
This is my fifth year after retirement. I’ve been following the 4% rule thing, but this isn’t really how hard I expected things to be. I still have about $460k outside funds in my IRA to invest in stocks. Pls how do I take advantage of the market turnaround?
Very true. Despite having no prior investing knowledge, I started investing before the pandemic and pulled in a profit of approximately $950k that same year. In reality, all I was doing was getting professional advice.
Definitely! All of this happened in less than a year after *Izella Annette Anderson* told me what to do. I started with less than $100,000, and now I'm about 17,000 short of having a quarter million dollars.
I retire July 2024 and so happy. Work for 30 yrs and must say my company took care of me. I am disbelief at time. At my retirement party my CEO and said what are you going to do and I told him I am walking out here in good health. I work for a big hospital and he said I get it.
Azul, when I compare myself to my neighbors and peers, I am SO glad that I have been frugal and saved for retirement, so that I can relax while they go to work, spend and have car payments. That’s a good feeling! A year ago I watched one of your videos where you said that ‘if you are almost there, you are close enough’. So I made the decision to retire and guess what, it is going fine. Best thing I have ever done, except for having my two kids!
Thanks so much for another great video! The point of not comparing yourself to others really hit home with me and got me to think about an episode from 30 years back. Newly arrived in the US, I was working at a preschool and childcare facility and was wildly underpaid as the argument was that my initial teacher training + M.Ed weren't from the US and therefore probably not worth the paper they were written on. One day, a parent of one of my students stood in my classroom, looking at the parking lot. Caught sight of a tiny blue car in the parking lot (my car) and started laughing and just couldn't stop. "Who does that little piece of s... belong to? Who exactly owns that car? Man, that things is SMALL!" On and on he went. Then, when I thought it had gone on for long enough, I quietly said, "it's my car, and it's paid." He stopped laughing, left with his child a few minutes later and always treated me with respect after that. The San Francisco Bay Area is home to a lot of very wealthy people, and if you're not cognizant of what's truly important to you, you easily end up chasing someone else's dream, thereby missing out on the experiences and people that would have brought you joy.
If you are reading this, I want to tell you that everything will be fine. You are incredible, you are unique, you can face anything in your life, you have the strength within yourself to overcome any obstacle, loss, or situation.
We started our bucket list when husband turned 50. The grown kid already runs their own retirement and finances. They are very aware there is no bank of mom and dad. We are FI and minimalist. We now fill our life with at least 2 cool new experiences per month. 25% into retirement and we blow the rest. We have to have fun now before our parents get sick and need some day to day assistance.
You've helped me so much into my retirement. My wife had started thinking of retirement and I've used you wisdom and content to help her make her decision. Thank you so much.
I didn’t know how bad I needed to hear this. Thank you, sir. I am wasting my “junior senior” years on the irrelevant, and this video was convicting on that front.
Great content as always Azul!! Long time, first time here. Your perspective of not just planning, but philosophical views of getting ourselves ready for retirement are really insightful. I'm turning 52, so probably right in the wheelhouse of your target audience. I'm currently in the middle of my life, 5 kids, 2 in college, youngest twins going in 4 years, so my plans are coming together to finish our child support model. On the point of supporting your kids, we set a clear budget with our kids for college and they are working on their own to either fill gaps if their school choice is expensive, or planning what to do with the extra money. Having these open conversations with our kids has really helped me personally to keep my personal goals in view, which I agree with you is important! Keep up the great content!!
Thank you for the great words of wisdom. Time is truly our most valued possession. It is great to have a video on the focus on building our better self, relationships with family and friends, and that which is the most important.
We are doing our bucket list cruises in order of importance and toughness. For example we snorkeled the Galapagos, much tougher and you need to be a strong swimmer and you play with agressive seals, penguins, sharks, rays and Iguanas and hiked Machu Pichu.. we have a whole list like that. But we can only do 2-3 a year do to me still working full time. We do help our adult children due to extenuating circumstances beyond our control. We lift them up so that we don't have to raise our grandson for example.
I heard another one the other day.. (like the 1000 weeks left) and it was if you are 60+ you may only have 25 to 28 summers left and probably the last 3-5 may not be in the best of mobility or health.. stop the Grind people as soon as possible 😊
I'd love a video from you on where a 55 plus single woman who can afford a house would enjoy life in a new place. I would never want to live in the 55 plus communities but would love to have some walkability or land. OMG you are so dead on, thank you for your videos!!!
I was a child who partially supported his Mother for close to a decade. You’re correct, I wish she had been financially independent instead of needing help.
Always great advice with Azul - just adding another one in here from one of finance friends. If you’ve hit 60 you’ve hopefully got 20 great years of retirement ahead and then some more.. think of splitting your capital into 20 parts - or 5% a year as “free money”. - not going to disturb your next egg too much but also gets you in a frame of mind where you’re going to treat yourself in a controlled and rational way to take some trips, have some parties etc. Sensible advice as well.
I agree. I dont want to drain all my money on health insurance. Might not even carry a money wasting health care plan. Just pay out of pocket. Its called self insured
I've kept much of my savings in cash for safety, but I'm unsure if it's right for retirement. Contemplating investing $400K in stocks, as I've heard investors can profit in tough times. Unsure about my next move.
It's impressive how much you saved during your working years, a feat not many achieve in a lifetime. Now that you're retired and rely on your investments, it's wise to redistribute your capital to mitigate risks during market fluctuations. Consulting a financial advisor can help simplify this process.
Yeah, I’m also closing in on retirement, and I have benefitted much from using a financial advisor. I didn’t really start early, so I knew the compound interest of index fund investing would not work for me. Funny how I pulled in more profit than some of my peers who have been investing for many years.
Many years ago a local attorney tood me about an estate he handled. The survivng child told how her father had worked all his life and had no assets other than an insurance policy made out to her. He had applied for and maxxed out numerous credit cards just before his death and spent the money buying things for his grandkids ect. Interesting little crime to say the least.

For a micro second I'm going to now feel sorry for people who are perpetually angry and for those who are incapable, for one reason or another, of having any sort of happy relationship. Whew, glad that's over. Now back to my life as described in this video. Might could use a bit more cash, but I'll get along just fine. Love my good health, love taking care of myself, love my wife and kids. First set of kids are struggling, but they have their youth, which makes them richer than me. So they'll get along. One way or another - we'll live our lives. How happy your are is entirely up to you. Listen to this video but, hey dude, only 1000 weeks left? Ouch. That hurts.

Great Advice _____ As you said the older we get, the more we become aware of how less time is left for us ! If we accept Christ as our savior, we will have eternal life , how comforting is that? Please embrace Christ today !!
It really isn't THAT difficult to time the stock market to a degree. You are never going to hit the exact peak or bottom but you can still avoid part of a 50% crash. IBD does a pretty good job of predicting market fundamentals. If you want to set it and forget it long term you will probably be ok but on a short/medium term basis a little effort can save you some big money. I suspect a S and P peak and then a large crash by the end of October. There are times when the market languished for decades and it might be a long while before you recover.

I see #3 as one of the biggest killers of retired people I know. Your kids are never going to stop taking until they are at a point of not wanting your help. Let that sink in.
Unfortunately, my wife and I will never be free from supporting our adult child with a developmental disability. Life isn't fair so I have little sympathy for parents of kids that are just fk ups.

2014 Suburu Forester here. 160,000 miles. Have more than I will ever need.
I really appreciate your advice, Azul. I'm super conservative with money, and I've got a good nest egg, but enjoying life is so important. I find a lot of wisdom about the things that you talk about. Thank you for helping us out. :)
Stop watching tv, especially news !
Best comment I’ve seen today!
Your life and your wife will thank you for not watching news!
I stopped watching news during the covid debacle. My attitude has improved greatly. I see people moping while I am skipping down the street whistling.
But... but... how will you know when the aliens 👽 arrive?! 🤔
Get off sofa....start walking outside
I see #3 as one of the biggest killers of retired people I know. Your kids are never going to stop taking until they are at a point of not wanting your help. Let that sink in.
I save 60 percent, I need to slow down 57 and not getting younger
Never giving up cocaine.
Unfortunately, my wife and I will never be free from supporting our adult child with a developmental disability. Life isn't fair so I have little sympathy for parents of kids that are just fk ups.
I’m a senior teacher and i totally understand your situations. Lower your expectations and don’t give a sh*t of what others thinking of you.
4:47 “Splooge on yourself” ???? SICK! Bro…
lol, he said “splurge” on yourself…😊😊😊
Enjoy your wife and put the phone down. Social media is a curse!
Vote Trump
OMG no!

Only if you enjoy eating cats and dogs for breakfast, scooter. 😂
Don’t vote at all. If voting mattered, the ruling class would never let us peons do it. Think about it. Politics is just entertainment, like the WWE. It’s much more scripted than you could imagine.
@@jamessteele7102 if it didn’t matter, the wealthy wouldn’t buy politicians and a certain party would not restrict voter rights. Your statement is asinine!!!
10 Chasing women...........

I feel like Azuls therapist owes him a commission at this point.
My income went from 1 cr to 10 cr in this week , thanks to Azul
Hey, I just emailed you, check your email!
