    Best PLL video on UA-cam! Showing actual calcs when walking through the datasheet is so helpful, thanks

    Finally a good practical demo of using a PLL as an FM demodulator.

      Thanks. I always try to give a working example of what I cover.

    Great Video! Thanks for taking the effort to explain the demodulation in a neat and concise manner. Could you also make a video wherein you implement the PLL using a circuit and not an IC?

    Oh, nice video! Just the thing I was looking for. I intuitively understood how PLLs could be used to make higher (or lower) frequencies than some on-board oscillator but couldn’t begin to guess how you could do FM demodulation like I’d heard mentioned. But then I found this and of course, it’s just taking the input to the VCO!

    The urge to make this into a stand alone FM broadcast receiver is quite strong! :D Thanks, M1GEO.

      Let me know if you do that! It certainly is possible.

      @@TheOffsetVolt I spun a simple PCB for a 4046 and a couple of opamps, see if I can get it to do anything useful. Would be interested to see if I can recover the audio. I shall report back.

    I thought that noise in the end is sort of chopping or a kind of generating an AC signal with pulsating the trace of the final result, but it is actually a noise !! wow that's really interesting ! I'm working in a power electronics course in the lab and as I'm testing some of the signals of the lab experiments board, I noticed this kind of noise and when I zoom out on the oscilloscope if goes something the sine wave !! I really don't know anything about signals and I have no idea what I'm doing. I don't even know how to trigger the SCR, but maybe because it's mounted with the lab board.

    the offset volt, how can you use a pulse counter to count how many pulses to troubleshoot digital TTL logic circuits from the 70's and 80's?

    Thanks for a great video. Unfortunately according to Digikey, the LM565 is obsolete. The 4046B is an active product, but has terrible documentation. Any chance you can show equivalent circuits for the 4046B, so that we can get the hang of a PLL circuit that'll be around for a while ?

      Find the Texas Instruments pdf for the 4046, at 687kb that one has all the info you could need.

      Possibly! That is one old IC but I'll see if maybe I can use it in a lab.

      The 565 is not easy to find, but the 4046 PLL IC is still available. Digikey no longer carries the 565.

    One big missing mystery in your video is that the FM radio does not work in 300k Hz. I believe you need the shift on the frequency down to 300k Hz.

    What is the output wave of PLL was that sine wave or a square wave?

    • @TheOffsetVolt
      @TheOffsetVolt  3 роки тому

      Hell Shubham, It should be a sine wave if the input was a FM signal modulated by a sine wave.
