    "Sa'min"
    Filipino & English
Mula nung una hanggang dulo at sa kalagitnaan
(From the beginning until the end and at the middle)
Ng gera at digmaan na to'y magkabilaan
(of war and this war that span on both sides)
(I always hold within my left and right hand)
Mga pinanghawakan ko na di mabitawan
(My ideals that I can't give up)
Nagpatuloy sa pagsulat paglikha't pagawa nya
(He continued to write, create and make)
(melodies and rhythm of rhymes and rebuttal)
    Sumikat makilala tinig maisa-plaka
(To rise in fame, be well known, voice be put into records)
(Even though it seems hope is faint)
(for me who is struggling like any other)
Lumaking wasak ang pamilya di pa nakapagtapos
(Grew up with a broken family and without even completing my education)
(Lacking in knowledge, even money is deficient)
Anumang meron at wala'y akin ng pinagpasa-Diyos
(Anything I have or without I will leave it to God)
(Even through my sins and forbidden actions)
(Grant it or not, my prayers that I desire)
(to go straight or to turn, to go crazy or to be well, to be victorious or to fail, only heaven knows)
Kahit marami mang putik saking talampakan
(Even if there is a lot of mud on the soles of my feet)
(I know that every path that I take, my every step leaves a mark)
Malubak o madulas ma'y handa kong tumulay
(Even if it's rough or smooth, I am ready to cross)
Hanggang sa dulo ay di mapapahumpay
Ang gutom na taglay hanggang mapasakamay
(Until the end, I won't let my hunger that I possess be stopped, until I have within my hands) or (Until the end, I won't let myself be stopped. The hunger that I have until I put into my hands)
At maiuwi ko samin ang tagumpay
(The victory that I'll bring home)

(Under the bridge of delpan, pedicab or jeep)
(Within the cramp world of plastic, breathing is unlikely)

(You are not just a mushroom)
(But a lotus, a flower that can bloom even in polluted waters)
Habang nakaharap sa salamin ng mag-isa
(While I'm facing the mirror alone)
Inaral kalasan ang maling sistemang nakabisa
(studied how to break free, the wrong system that I learned)
(Somehow I still worked hard not to be compared to them)
Kahit samin ay mahirap ang maging kakaiba
(Even though in our place it's hard to be different)

It's amazing how you perceive the filipino rap because to be honest, here in the Philippines, there's a stigma that rappers are synonymous to gangsters or bummers. Not in all places but in general, the mid to upper classes don't appreciate this kind of stuff. That's why theyre rarely given the big stage as the big singers here because majority doesn't appreciate it. It seems that Philippines only find someone great if they can belt really well. I remember one time i was playing this old rap(melodic) and my officemates were shocked and laughed at me and called me a squammy (someone who lives in hostile area).
So hearing this from you both specially from Efra who's a good rapper himself really makes me appreciate this genre more. I hope this gets accepted well by the majority here in the Philippines for these artists and the things they do are not easy. They have the most inspirational stories too.

SA'MIN is a contraction of "sa amin" meaning "ours", "to us" or "in our place" -- the lyrics provided by John Dalanon farther down are some of the deepest, most poignant, most expressive, most extensive, honest and heartfelt words written by a young guy totally in Filipino I've ever seen (assume Smugglaz authored those). "Samin" is a shortened version of "sa amin" (it can be written as sa'min) which roughly means "in our (insert subject here)" It is like in a casual/simplified/lazy form of speech where the subject is just omitted since the context is already understandable for Tagalog speakers/the ones holding the conversation. For example, if the context is about a place, it will be "sa aming lugar, " if it is about family then it will be "sa aming pamilya" and so on.

    • @topex1993

@@topex1993 that is why I put "roughly means" which serves as a disclaimer since we cannot directly translate Tagalog to English and there are many variations on how you can translate them but the important thing is that the context is not lost. The official translation also says "ours" anyway.

Smugglaz. is live in the poor area of manila named tundo.
And he is one of the street children.. who experienced the best and worst thing on his place..
In the 2nd verse . He compared his self on a plant lotus who can grow on a dirt water..
Like i say he was like. a lotos who shine and be famous on what talent that he have .. from a street rap artist to a mainstream artist ..
And now in the song he said that he will bring victory when he came back to his placed .

It's fascinating how despite the speed of the song, i could still understand it. Some rappers even in tagalog when rapped so fast, I'd still need to listen again or look for the lyrics to understand it. The lyrics is humbling and inspiring. It reminds me of Gloc 9's songs.
Not to compare but there are also good rappers out there that i like a lot like ez mil specially with his song panalo. But after listening to most of his songs, they're obviously impressive but the contents are kind of unpleasant. I still listen to him specially when working out but he's not my to go to when i want to be inspired. I'd listen to other filipino rappers and glad to have come across this song. Just a shame it's not on spotify. :(
Thanks Efra and Wale for doing this to deserving artists specially filipino rappers. They're really underrated.

The word SAMIN is a derived word from "sa" and "amin" which means "ours" or "at our place" depending on the usage. This is the first time I'm hearing the song but it is more like to describe "our victory" which makes "ours" the applicable meaning for this case.

i think we emphasize the use of "NG" because it is included in our alphabet.. american speakers sometimes dont use that NG sound like in (getting = gettin' waiting = waitin'). hehe
    but IDk really 😁✌️
the English alphabet has 26 letters. we Have 28 which includeds "Ñ" & "NG"

Pls do a reaction on Breezy Boyz & Breezy Girls's music. Curse One is one of their most popular artist, he is sort of affiliated with Smugglaz. You guys did a reaction on their song on Wish a while ago, the 'Nakakamis lang kasi'. You can check Curse One on Wish 107.5 he sung 'Masaya ako sayo'. Their group also sing some acapella sometimes.

Hi, the title is interpreted as "OURS">
    TAGALOG:
    Sa^min(Sa Amin) / Sa^tin(Sa Atin)
    ° Samin yan - "That's ours"
    ° Satin yan - "It's ours"
    BISAYA:
    ° Samin - Mirror

    • @riverrunsfree
      @riverrunsfree 2 роки тому

      It's more like:
Samin - ours (exclusive) = Me and my peers
Satin - ours (inclusive) = Me and you
But in the context of the song, Samin means "The Place I came from". ☺️

The title "SA'MIN" is a two word come together its actually spelled like this Sa Amin, which means "from where i'm from". He just scramble the two words to have a catchy title of the song which is very clever for me, just my thought though.

    Chorus
Malubak o madulas, ma'y handa kong tumulay
Hanggang sa dulo ay 'di mapapahumpay
Ang gutom na taglay, hanggang mapasakamay
At maiuwi ko sa 'min ang tagumpay
    Sa 'min ang tagumpay
Mauwi ko sa 'min ang tagumpay
Mauwi ko sa 'min ang tagumpay
Mauwi ko sa 'min ang tagumpay
    Ah
    .
    English version
    (base on English translation)
Because there is a lot of mud on the soles of the feet I know that my footsteps will still leave every path Bumpy or slippery, I'm ready to bridge Until the end, it will not be appeased The hunger to have, until you can handle it And I will bring home the victory The victory is mine I will bring home the victory I will bring home the victory I will bring home the victory Oh
