Hi I used Chirp UV - K5 and loaded the US marine band channels. However he frequency displayed was offset from the frequency listed in the software. example 156.300 (software) Displayed 156.291 on the radio . This was the same in other channels programed. This in Channel mode. In VFO mode I can set the frequency to 156.300 and it receives and transmits as expected. any Ideas?
@enriquelaroche5370 Seems odd. Try going to a channel where that happens, then go into the menu to ensure offset is off. If off isn't an option, make sure offset amount is all zeros. That's all I can think of. Good luck.
Just received my Quansheng UV-K5(99) yesterday and have spent 4 hours this morning trying to get either CHIRP (newest version) or the Quansheng CPS software to work. NOTHING WORKS! CHIRP says "firmware not supported" and Quansheng software says "LANGUAGE not supported." How is anyone programming this radio. If I can't find help soon, I'm sending it back to Amazon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
With all the updates and changes to the K5, I'm not surprised but appreceiate the frustration. Ensure you have the latest CPS from QS or drop them a email at their support address. Sometimes changes to the CPS are delayed. I tried the latest Chirp download on my K5(99) and it connected and downloaded fine. Sorry you're having trouble.
@@GadgetTalk4U Thanks for the reply. The latest download of CHIRP (20240706) did not work for me at all. I did manage to get a link to Quansheng software (from a Canadian website-Fleetwood Digital Products) that did work. It's not a new version and it's for the UV-K5 but I was able to program frequencies, offsets, and scan lists. I sent an email to Quansheng and hopefully I'll get a reply soon. The UV-K5(99) without ANY firmware mods receives the AM Aircraft Band great! Clear audio and great signal. I'm too leery right now to try a firmware mod and since there's nothing I wanted to do that the radio can't do now, I'll stick with the stock firmware. The fast copy feature works awesome and even the FM radio is pretty nice to have. Thanks again for the reply. I was getting very frustrated but the folks at Fleetwood were super helpful and the older version Quansheng software works fine.
@@GadgetTalk4U One quick question: Are you running the original UV-K5(99) firmware when using CHIRP? I wonder if it didn't work for me since I didn't change the firmware and am using the original Quansheng firmware.
Thanks jim, new subscriber here, a big fan of your content, keep it coming
Total nightmare with chiro since the update , any fix for the UVK5 yet ?
I went to the link but I don't understand which exactly is the software to modify memories of uv-k5 (8). Can you tell please?
The one called UV-K5 Programming Software. The one labled UV-K5 Firmware updates the firmware which is a different task.
Thanks
Does this means that this radio will be able to talk to my Motorola Talkabout?
This is a ham radio. Transmitting to your Talkabout would be prohibited by several FCC rules.

The firmware in my K5(99) is 2.01.31. Another commenter has had some trouble here too. Try this link to QS software. qsfj.com/support/downloads/
@@GadgetTalk4U FW 2.01.31 is for original UV-K5, UV-K5(99) has another one, dont work with CHIRP
