I’m 34 and my husband is 68. We have a two year old. You might expect people to think that I’m my husband’s daughter, but since I have grey hair that I let grow out people assume we are BOTH grandparents!! 😂 it bothered me a bit the first time, but now I laugh. People seem to love the fact that he is an older daddy though, after they get over the shock. Lol. Love you guys!

It definitely is not as easy to make friends as an adult as it was as a kid. I’ve joined a book club, church, and a softball league in the past year, and I haven’t come away with a friend that I do one on one activities with. My softball team gets together occasionally, but as a group activity. It’s even harder I think when you don’t have kids because you don’t have that commonality and regular interaction through extracurricular activities.

@@KittyKat-xt6rw I’m sorry to hear that. I had no issue making friends growing up. I always had a pretty busy social life, but would’ve never considered myself popular. I just had a good core group of friends. After some traumatic experiences over the past year and a half, I’ve started to outgrow a lot of my long term friendships. I decided to branch out and try to start fresh with some new friends, but it’s been really difficult. I don’t know why it’s so much harder now, but I definitely know it is. Maybe it’s harder to find commonalities now.

One thing I started once my kids were older was asking or saying to them are you proud of yourself or you should be so proud of yourself! Instead of always saying oh moms so proud of you. after I’ve said oh you should be so proud or are you so proud and usually get a ya! And then I follow through with so am I! I don’t know why or what made me chose this but I love it. Sometimes I’m hit with a no I’m not proud and of course we deal with that accordingly. ❤ you guys are great!!

I'm 26 and my long term partner is almost 48, we are both metalheads, and enjoy going out to metal and punk bar shows, that's actually how we met. As an adult being part of a "scene" actually makes it really easy to make new friends and maintain friendships. As new people are always coming and going to shows and local gigs. Id encourage anybody to check around your area and see if there are any music events going on that peak your interest! I haven't seen anything bring people together like music. It's awesome. Would recommend!

Parenting still falls under treating people how you want to be treated. A child should be treated the way you would want to be treated also. What would you want someone to do for you when having a meltdown? What do you want someone to do for you when you are being nice etc. Etc. It still applies.

My hubby is a former military police officer and his current best friend is 62, he will need a replacement when we move 😂 he just gets along better with the older crowd it seems. (We are in our mid 30’s) both only children so we have always felt more mature than our friends. Making friends as an adult is SO hard and honestly there is nothing like the friends you have from childhood! My “mom” friends that I met from my kids are just not the same, it’s not the same comfort level, my other friends just get me and I feel I have to hold back a bit with my newer friends… anywho! I think, being online requires thick skin, and I also agree that commenting a few times on a post and not engaging with your followers or reading the messages they send puts a very entitled Vibe to being a “influencer“

Funny I have the same pet peeve as you Mindy. My hubby's frustration level with things and his lack of patience and frustration are the next levels; the older he gets, the worse it gets. Baby name:
We have four children. Three boys and one girl. She is the youngest.
When I was in sixth grade, I ready Anne Frank’s diary.
I was obsessed with learning more, and found out that her name, Anne, is short for Anneliese.
I thought Anneliese the most-beautiful name I ever heard, and decided, then and there, that if I have a daughter, her name will be Anneliese.
First one: Eric or Anneliese: Eric
Second one; Nathaniel or Anneliese: Nathaniel
Third one: Jeremiah or Anneliese: Jeremiah
    Finally!
So, she was a few days old. I looked at her and she looked at me. I was so upset (postpartum hormonal weirdness) because she did not look like and Anneliese.
    We named her KellyAnne.
After a few days as KellyAnne, I came to my senses and changed her name to Anneliese.
She loves her name and has a sense of pride that she is named after Anne Frank. ❤
