- Yonatan Razel was born in New York and moved to Israel at a young age with his family.
He won "Singer of the Year" and "Song of the Year" from Ynet in the fall of 2007.
Yonatan gained fame in 2009 for setting the Jewish liturgical poem "Vehi Sheamda" to music for Yaakov Shwekey.
Israeli Charedi radio station Kol Chai named the song its "Song of the Decade" as the song became popular with both secular and religious listeners, becoming an anthem for the holiday of Pesach in Israel.

I am Kiwi, but with a great love for Israel through my Faith and listening to Hebrew spoken and sung. I love this man’s beautiful guitar music, and picked up at the end that he was sharing about a soldier’s inspiration taken from King David who had fought against Goliath, had witnessed death around him yet loved life in its fullness and beauty. Having danced Katonti, I also loved hearing him sing/pray those beautiful words, so, thank you so much.
I love how he relates to Davad our King... His music ..
The Razels are amazing people and neighbors!!
Thank you for sharing this, I love to listen to Jonathan's music, makes my very neshama sing!
Beautiful interview!!
Absolutely love every episode but this one spoke to my neshama deeply.
Beautiful! I love how you highlighted his humility. I don’t think there are too many “stars” with that kind of humility.
Thanks for this interview!
Great voice
Wow. Great interview. What a fascinating, multi faceted, talented person. & such an “Anuv”. Amazing.
ראיון יפה מאוד...אני מישראל ואוהבת את הערוץ שלך

Looking forward to hearing him sing and conduct as a Levi in the Bris Hamikdash soon in our lifetime!
Beautiful amazing interview really thank you so much for bringing us into Yonatan’s life really wonderful musician all around person!!
Great podcast I really appreciate it
Many gentiles are listening too his music...and Yaacov Shwekey... Yonatan is a Godly man
wow!!!!!
Momo, love the new glasses. And the other new ones too :)
Are you going to interview Hanon Ben Ari or Nathan Goshen? Goshen would be really interesting because he became bal teshuva in his teens. And he's a pop singer NOT a religious singer.
❤❤❤❤
For the gentiles and bnei noach watching, the song is "ve'hi she'amda".
I don't know if Yonatan can beat Naomi Shemer for best known songs though. I guess it depends on the rules. Is it best known religious song? It could be rabbi shabzi's poem sung by Ofra Haza - im ninalu daltei. 🤔
I should have mentioned, im ninalu daltei = If the gates (doors) are locked.
THIS WAS RECORDED MONTHS AGO
@@JJ-kf4kc THAT ITS INTRESTING BEC. ITS BEFORE THE WAR
How could that be? They talk about the war...
@@anonymous-io6zg I dont know at the end they say shana tova
No it wasn't. He's referring to the new secular year
@@ygross18 I understand but it its interesting that they said Shana Tova
2:22...
Most people I know have a family mesora of niggunim to sing at the seder.
Hahaha the most popular “Jewish” song is probably a Christmas song 🤣🤷🏻♀️
