Can you even IMAGINE being mentored by SammyLiza and Chita? At 16?!! What a blessed and predestined little girl she was. God had already begun the good work in her.
What god wants, god gets...god help us all...don't be afraid, it's only dogma...the alien prophet cried...the beetle and the springbok took the bible from its hook, and the monkey in the corner wrote the lesson in his book.
WOW! Thanks for uploading this! I remember this series...it came on late night. I think it was syndicated. I actually saw Stephanie Mills in "The Wiz" on Broadway in the spring of '76!
You will never find such great talent on one show.sammy davis jr.was the greatest entertainer that ever lived.no one can ever be compared to liza with a z.
I never knew that Liza was married to Jack Haley, Jr. (Who would have guessed that Dorothy and the Tin Man would have kids who would marry each other?)
Thank you for posting this wonderful video. So great to see Sammy. I would be happy to watch Sammy read a phone directory I just love to watch him that much.❤❤❤❤
Seems that finding episodes of this show are extremely hard to come by. Sadly I very much think that like other shows of the era like Hollywood Squares, most of the taped episodes have been lost to the passages of time. But this particular episode has survived, as finding most shows before 1980 outside of popular shows like All in the Family are hard to come by. The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson up until 1972 - 1973 had its tapings erased, meaning that over 90 percent of the airings were only shown once. It’s a shame, because this is what Hollywood show business used to be and seeing what it is now is a complete disgrace. Sammy Davis Jr who was one of the greatest talents giving out an entertaining show. No narcissism, no rude interruptions by the interviewee, no fake audience noise, no laugh tracks, no corporate advertising. Just the audience and the performers enjoying their craft.
Dude, then as now, 90% of anything was/is crap. Then as now, there was the 10% cream that rose to the top. You just don’t recall the crap in the old days.
@@tishtashtishtash You don’t know what you miss until it’s gone. I’m sure most of what Sammy Davis Jr starred in was crap. But you can make the same argument for 80’s cartoons, which was largely made to sell toys. Anyone who watched Transformers can tell you that.
@@KratostheThird I’m not picking on Sammy. He was the cream rising to the top. But folks who wax nostalgic about the golden age of television forget that it also spawned “My Mother the Car.”
@@tishtashtishtash Along with Car 54 Where Are You, the slew of awful 1950’s era Sci-Fi films, countless pilot TV shows that never got green lit, the horrible Porn movies of the 1970’s, and as aforementioned, the toy cartoons of the 1980’s. I’m mostly praising Sammy here. He was dedicated to his craft. I cannot say the same for today’s generation of performers. Especially not hacks like Ezra Miller, Katy Perry or the worthless social media influencers you see here on YT.
@@KratostheThird I agree more than you know! But you also have Michelle Williams, Joaquin Phoenix, Daniel Kaaluya. Every generation was great and awful at the same time. Maybe it’s a good thing we wax nostalgic for the greats, bc the rest need to be forgotten. P.S. “car 54” wasn’t “the sopranos” but it was better than “my mother the car”!
Johan - thank you so much again for the wonderful uploads. I am a private collector of Sammy Davis Jr. material with a wealth of rare concert and TV appearances, as well as his complete discography. I was also recently involved in a reissue of his 1958 “Mood to be Wooed” album and provided the liner notes for the release. Is there any way I could reach out to you privately and discuss some Sammy material with you? I have some items that may interest you. Thanks again for all that you’ve been doing!

@@JohanVNilsson Hey Johan, I sent you an email a couple weeks back after receiving your response. Did my message come through?
@@bradylove9825Yes, it did. But I took forever in answering it, so sorry. I’m interested in your Sammy live in Amsterdam 1978!
LIZA !!! THE FABULOUS ?!🥰🥰🥰👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋During ! Her HAYDAY !!🥰🥰🥰
I was looking forward to sammy singing cabaret.i bet liza joined in.
Chita with a dirty (in the best sense) version of All That Jazz!
Cocaine's a hell of a drug...
18:30 Can I say something? Lola Heatherton!
Is it just me or does Sammy seemed completely zonked out of his skull here, complete with slurring!
Liza may be too.
substances look at Liza lol
This was the low point of Sam's drug addiction and partying.
Of course! It was the '70s!
@@johndalton3180 We were all jammed up in the 70's...and it was great!!
Williams should’ve slipped into the film, vs an over-the-hill diva who had no business pretending to be a little girl.
Stephanie killed it, these were her Broadway baby days doing The Wiz.
