This sort of reminded me of my high-school drafting teacher... who would have a fit every time somebody called the scale a "ruler" at some point they just started saying it to mess with him. My issue is storing the data in my head... really common ones I can usually get but eyeballing fasteners in standard is a beech to me. Using it more often would help but tis a metric world... unless you are doing things in the home/plumbing. It is actually somewhat interesting for the reasons WHY there is still those hangovers. It is annoying but some of those standards will probably never change.
