I grew up admiring my mom's long natural nails. I have weak, soft nails so have learned to do hard gel extensions. My favorite is long stilettos. I love the creative process and the freedom to do whatever I feel like at any given moment.
I love the way my hands look with longer nails but I can’t function with them. I used to go to a salon and have them done. Every two weeks was just too much! I’ll just keep my short natural nails and save myself the aggravation. I’m so happy you’re back on here. Enjoy the summer with your daughter.
I keep my nails short because I don't like the feeling of my nails long and for being able to do household chores and typing all day while working. I like the look too (a lot more feminine) but I love my shorter nails. I think your natural nails look great!
I'm fortunate enough to have natural long nails and I keep them a little shorter than those you had on. I used to shape them in stiletto shape, but the tips would snap off unless I put an overlay of gel on them. Now I keep them more rounded, but they're always long. I'm guessing they're about 1/4 inch past the tips of my fingers. I've worn them long since I was in school so I feel weird if they're short..LOL
Kiss acrylic short are great false nails, they can stay on weeks if you prep correctly. There’s a bit of an art to the glue, I put a thin layer all over the natural nail, the a thin layer on the fake nails with a blob at the cuticle end.
I can't do long nails. I have never even had a manicure. I work with my hands too much so it is not practical. I did wear fake nails for Halloween once and my nail beds ached so bad by the end of the night. I could not wait to get them off. I thought they looked really pretty on your hands and I do admire women who keep there nails looking long and fancy. I guess I was just not born with that gene. 😄😋
I love having my natural nails long. I love the way it looks. But mine are really thin and break a lot. 😢 Salon nails are expensive, take too much time to get done, are too thick- which makes it hard to pick stuff up- they pop off too easily, and they ruin your natural nails.
I like to have acrylics applied and then trimmed to medium square shape. I can function as normal and the polish never chips! Unlike you, I enjoy my trip to the salon and let someone else do the work. It’s a bit of self-care feels for me. And I usually only do the nails in fall through the holidays when I like a bit more bling. That’s how I justify the expense. It’s only for 4-5 months.
Get rid of them for everyday use Lou!! Impractical!! Use them ONLY when you walk the Red Carpet in Hollywood! I like to have some nail but they end up snagging and breaking all the time! It's nuts! And...you look just as gorgeous with glasses as without... Is Gorgeoulicious a word?!?!?! Doesn't look right!🤔🤐🤨🙃😉😊
I do my own nails, I actually do a different shape and design on each hand for posting. I love the longer nails, I have slightly bigger hands for a girl, so long makes them look more elegant imho. But I also enjoy short nails. You adjust to long nails after a while. Hitting them on something just right… hurtssss like heck which with shorter nails isn’t as likely.
Well one day doesn't really give you an idea of what it's like. You haven't tried to wash your hair, put on gloves. Clasp a bra. All those fun things that make me wonder how Barry Whites wife Golden did anything at all. She had Natural nails that were at least ( I am guessing here) a foot long. Check it out. There is no way this woman wiped her bum.
They're just unsanitary. They look good but impossible to get clean all the way down to the tip of your fingers unless you have 10 extra minutes every time you wash your hands.
I can’t stand having long nails. I prefer them flush with the top of my fingers-longer than that and they just get in the way of everything. Not to mention all the crud that gets trapped all up in there🤢
I used to have acrylics done every 2 wks in my 20s/30s, but after ending up with 3 separate fungal infections, I was done. Gross! Plus they're so unsanitary. I could never fully clean way under them because the glue would be in the way. And I never had them done long, only short/med length. I can't imagine the long ones and what is breeding under them. And, how do they wipe? 😳 It's the reason why you won't see any hospital workers wearing them. Many family members of mine work in the medical field (hospitals) and it's a big no no. What does that tell ya..? 😬
I hate long nails! They really gross me out, I think they're trashy and pathetic. Possibly important note: I grew up playing piano, and so was my nails were always kept very short. Also, I'm a tomboy [yes, even as an adult]. So maybe those reasons are why I hate long nails?
You’re such a breath of fresh air on this platform. Thanks, Lou! ❤
Thanks for the giggles! You always bring a great perspective, Lou!. You say what we’re out here thinking;)
For my work I give facials and I do waxing. I love short natural nails. It's just cleaner. More sanitary. And it looks great. No fake nails for me

I'm a goldsmith and I've long given up on my nails , I had no idea that sticky fake ones existed ! It's so nice to have you back Lou.
I loved your family's reactions and how you all have the same amazing dry sense of humor! 😆
I’m just so happy that you’re back to entertain us!

You're back!!!
Yay! So good to see you again beautiful!!
Cool experiment! I think I'd try it just to see how it modified my finger functionality and the challenge of overcoming. Thx, Lou! 😊
Long nails are gorgeous but not at all functional for me. Hey A. is gorgeous! Stay awesome, Lou! xoxo

I have a car door nail too, Lou!

I would think the press on nails would be great for a party/going out for the evening.
I wore fake nails for years and then started learning to pay the piano. Bye Bye long nails.

I love how long nails look, but they're just impractical for me and my job.

I CAN NOT do long nails. It makes ne feel like an anteater 😂😂😂
I can't wear them. Got the dirtiest look from the manicurist when I went back to have them removed at the salon.
I tried acrylic long nails once and I found using my phone the hardest honestly

I find it almost impossible to use the restroom with long nails! Maybe I’m just doing something wrong…but ewww! 😂

I could wear my nails pretty long because they're super thick, but I don't like the look and would find it very unpractical.
The longer the nails, the lazier that person might be. Forget about doing physical work, can’t even type.

Long nails are just gross.....
