In my view "The Line" needs to be initially built as a Beta Model on a much smaller scale of maybe 2km long with the option of extending the project in the future.
My thinking is that a smaller scale Beta version of the project requires
- significantly less money and resources than a full version
- gives the innovative development project a chance to explore the problems of such a development by actual experience
- enables better improvements, better quality, better efficiency, and better solutions should The Line be extended in the future
- enables economists and financial advisors to understand by experiencing the economic mechanism and the financial side of operating such a facility and also have a better ability to provide advice on such a project
- enable potential investors to better understand what they have to invest in and what is the likely Return on Investment for such a Project
In my view if The Line Project is successful, then it can realistically be expanded slowly section by section in such a way that the project has the option to either simply finish at that point if further expansion is not economicly viable or to further expand, if and when expansion becomes economically viable in the future.
