Great GOALTENDING always stuns Teams that are Favored in Ice Hockey and this is no exception! One of my favorite moments in Olympic Ice Hockey History was in 1936 when Great Britain had a Goalie by the Name of JIMMY FOSTER who made 219 Saves on the 222 Shots He Faced during those Winter Olympics to help Great Britain win the 1936 Winter Olympic Ice Hockey GOLD MEDAL that Year!

You are right about great goaltending is the key In 1960 and 1980 we had the best goaltending in McCartan and Craig. We also had the best coaches: Jack Riley is my father

Jack Riley and the 3 Coaches.
Riley was the only American coach to defeat the Father of Soviet Hockey Anatoly Tarasov.
Riley's last cut was Herb Brooks, the second miracle coach.
Canada's captain, Harry Sinden coached the original Team Canada to victory over the Soviets in the 1972 "Summit Series".

ahh yeah we dont beat canada for gold, we just beat them to prevent them from getting gold, or silver for that matter. after you lose the bronze game keep basking in your canadian glory. go to tim hortons for a double double and a canadian maple, and enjoy the fact that a canadian NHL team wont win a cup for years to come, if you ever play again, considering the mess that is the NHL lockout.

Wow people lets enjoy what happenned, America is becoming better but we are not at that Elite level, the USA won in 1960 don't overshadow it with stupid banter

yeah a funny bunch we are, geez ya canucks should be pretty good at hockey, considering its your country's only sport. hmm i wonder how many times canada has beaten the usa in the olympics in basketball, better thought, i wonder how many times canada has lost to the usa in basketball by less than 30 points, on both ill go with 0. being the stat checker that you are i expect youll look that up. hmm wonder if theyd ever beat us in football or baseball as well. hmm nahh. im SO SOOARRYYY

and canada will never match the usa in overall medals, i cant name one other event that canada has more medals than the usa in, so whos the true loser here? the sooner you stop living in the last 20, 50, or 100 years the better, man its kinda pathetic, just face the fact that canada isnt the hockey powerhouse anymore. id take the usa, russia or sweden over them.

Oh please. Your team gets its head handed to them today and you want to recite the historical record? What does that have to do with the PRESENT REALITY that the USA has caught up to Canada in hockey? Today's game wasn't even close!

This was the first of only two times a U.S. men's hockey team ever beat Canada at the Winter Olympics.
The other time was in the round-robin in 2010, but Canada got their revenge in the championship game.
While CBS broadcast those Olympics (the first on American TV), they reportedly only showed two or three minutes of highlights, as their only coverage that day was fifteen minutes after the 11 P.M. local news!
But the last two games, against Russia and the Czechs, were shown live and in full.

dont worry though, i get out enough, america has malls, and bars, and populated cities. judging by the amount of clueless canadians i have to deal with on a daily basis, canada must not have them

I have been alone in Blyth arena before it was torn down. Went out on that ice and got chills from the history that happened there. You could still feel it, it was like Rudy in the Notre Dame locker room.
