Mantic has a whole range of terrain available. The problem I run into with their stuff is that as I can build it however I want I cannot decide how to build it.
I'd go with TTCombat. For bonus points their Carnevale terrain gives you Gudrun pre- or post- 13th Black Crusade depending on if you go for ruins or the full buildings so with a bit of luck the new water rules will be of use.
Best value Kill Team terrain by far is TTCombat's Razed District. Every gamer should have a set of this. Grab a couple of different Colour Forge's colour sprays and you're good to go. It's not the prettiest but it's sturdy and functional. You get so much terrain you'll never create the same board twice and have loads to spare - there's enough to run a second board at the same time. And it's just £22 (£17 from Wayland when it's in stock). Honestly, it's a steal and an utter bargain Next pick is Archon Studio's Eternal Cathedral from their Rampart range. Looks gorgeous and brilliant price (£44.10 from Wayland). It's a bit limited when it comes to floors for a second (or third) level so a little creativity is required, but it's a joy to put together. This is lego but for toy soldiers and I love it. Spray white then Speed Paint Ashen Stone, and you can worry about the details later, you're ready to play.
I was very disappointed to learn that non GW terrain is not allowed at my local GW store, even down to barricades. I get it for models, but since GW doesn't exactly make much in terms of terrain, or continue producing terrain that IS good, it was very disheartening. Especially after seeing how much terrain the store actually keeps on hand for use.... which is not much. Which really sucks for 10th edition games..... I'm fortunate to be in the states and I picked up a set of Octarius terrain that was floating around somewhere on the internet. Now that I've branched out to 10th edition too, I will be able to use vehicles as extra terrain which is cool. Played the mechanicum walkways with my Kroot and it was amaaaaazing with the Bound strat, super fun. We just played the ladders as costing a circle to climb.
Thank you very much! Very helpful video. I was mystified by the hab bunker when I built it. unfortunately I didn't see your video before building. Such good advice! The landing pad sits on its edge in the hutch I have for storing terrain ( one side for kill team and one side for warcry)- lol.
Thank you for doing this video. Very useful. GW makes terrain for Middle Earth that looks like it would work for KillTeam. Archon Studios has some interesting terrain too.
Smashed it out of the park, nice one! It does seem that the US still has a lot of random old Kill zones lying around. But as they're not reliable to buy any more, it always seemed a bit off to me for everyone trying to get into kill team to get the advice "Buy Octarius".
For those who want to spend little (7€/$) there are also the corvus belli's infinity terrain, I have for example the daedalus. They have them in both mdf and fine cardboard and there is also included a slightly larger paper board than the KT one. They are made of cardboard but are strong enough, they have 4 large elements, 2 bridges and a few cubes (I would cut these because otherwise they obscure the whole op). I usually play at friends houses with the GW ones, but for rare home games given the low price they aren't bad
ItD is very neat! If only didn’t require superhuman strength to use. Looking forward to what season 3 is going to bring. For open board though - Lusters Workshop stuff is amazing. It’s just a better octarius ❤
Yah I got to agree. The open stuff is top tier, good mish-mash of octarius and Chalnath features (kinda a best of both worlds) I have his ItV set (ItD inspired set) and it’s a lot easier to set up but still has a pain. He’s started fusing layouts between the sets (his current packet has some cool stuff) including a double-stacked pillar thing from ItD. I really enjoy it 💚
Very usefull! Been looking at getting a proper terrain collection for Killteam. In season 1 we used some of our old sector mechanicus terrain mostly untill we switched to ITD. Would be cool to have a nice thematic open board as well.
Battle Systems are great sets, easily load bearing and the clips are super versatile for creating height and interesting shapes etc. Another advantage is that you can pick up individual A4 sheets so if you're wanting wide platforms, more ladders or a not-Stargate they've got you covered
Good vid. I happily got a painted octarius for a ridiculous price of 20 pounds, and another grey one later to use as a master for octarius themed bases ( using blue stuff, trovarion style)
Ryza pattern rings still seem to be reasonably available on eBay and can be used to make split apart Nachmund buildings look a bit nicer by hiding the joining slots.
Currently I have been collecting color printed mdf terrian from Warsenal. Mostly for Necromunda but they definitely have some killteam goodness on their site!
I have Chalnath. It's a lovely looking set, but it is ALL heavy terrain and so a little bit challenging to play. It's fine, it works, but it's not the most flexible play experience. If you're willing to put in some scatter terrain then it's a decent set!
What's up with the scale of the TTcombat stuff? I've been eyeing it since GW belched out that rather vanilla terrain reveal. Is the TT stuff too small? Hopefully GW are cooking up something with a bit more razzle dazzle for the new KT edition.
No it's fine. The fake octarius they do is all the correct height. It's all a bit chunkier and less detailed then actual octarius is all. Playability with heights is no problem.
I love Warlord for scatter terrain, but my favourite is UMBUM Clever Paper which is the stuff Ben from Questing Beast was eulogising over a while ago. They strike just the right balance between cost, features, and ease of use - and they even flat pack for transport! They're similar to the battle systems stuff but I think a bit cheaper.
So you're saying I can have a full Kill Team board with the KT starter set and the terrain from the Shatterpoint starter set? I've already got that, so with the KT starter I might just be in a good place to play.
Great video , and well timed , the new Kill Team terrain is just awful , and finding decent alternatives isn't easy either. Info in the comments section is very useful , thanks to all.
Print Minis makes some great Killteam/Necromunda adjacent terrain that is both FDM and SLA friendly. I expect ItD sets will get much cheaper on eBay soon.
When I started 40k I got a deadzone box because it felt like a lot more terrain compared to the prices of the sector imperialis GW terrain. Later backed Archon Studios' Rampart kickstarter for more classic 40k vibe. Since then it's been a mix of kill team boxes to add to the mix, a small package of Adeptus Titanicus for walls likes - and some 3D printed bunkers and containers to flesh it out. Also, while vehicles are great, I feel they kinda fall into the "thick" issue like those bunkers.
Luckily, I have a bunch of Sector Imperialis and Sector Mechanicus terrain from when I got into the hobby, along with too much Battlezone Fronteris stuff. So, I don't need any more Sci-Fi terrain. I also have a bunch of Kits for Necromunda, that I haven't even built yet. On the Fantasy side I have a bunch of old AoS and Lord of the Rings terrain, again enough that I never need to buy terrain again. I do have a bunch of Deadzone terrain, that I really only use for Deadzone, but yeah... it would be great for Kill Team! Deadzone is a great system, I actually prefer it to KillZone. Totally recommend Deadzone to all you gamers out there.
Foolishly I've never bought any. I've never seen it in person so I can't really comment. It looks good from what I've seen in reviews though, but I can't be kill team specific there :( Maybe it has the same issue as chalnath and is just too much heavy terrain no scatter? 🤷♂️
I have the Eternal Cathedral terrain and it's a stunning amount of terrain for the price. It's extremely modular with lots of little scatter things (statues, pillars, roots, spire tops, etc) that can be put onto the terrain to add height or just used as ground scatter. Make sure you build the pillars carefully so you don't accidentally get one half the wrong way round (I did that once, regretted it), and use blue tack rather than the little plugs to hold walls on top of other walls - the plugs can accidentally fall inside the pillars and they're very difficult to get out. Their later sets fixed that problem though. Aside from that, can't recommend this set highly enough.
I have sets of old OOP Armorcast resin ruins terrain that I have turned into KT sets. I was really hoping that KT21 season three was going to be jungle terrain.
Call me crazy, but I actually really like the more cartoony game mats there! Since this video I've been poking around for more terrain options and exploring the preprinted stuff from Battle Systems and MDF options etc. and it looks like you have some unique styles for MDF there!
The Warhammer: 40,000 - Command Edition Battlefield Expansion Set is a good alternative to Octarius. Unfortunately you will need two of them to complete a board.
It's a lovely set when set up correctly. But when set up correctly doesn't have enough ground floor LOS blocking, really, so I got a bit creative with it and yeah I agree, doesn't look great as I set it up.

I use my LEGOs for the kill team terrain
Haha please sent glashalfdead a photo so he can put it in one his videos
Actually a great idea!
Genius
Playmobil also has some terrain you can use (rocks and vegetation, etc)
I've never heard of Tinkerturf before, but that stuff looks gorgeous and incredibly unique. Thank you for showing off some alternative manufacturers!
I'd go with TTCombat. For bonus points their Carnevale terrain gives you Gudrun pre- or post- 13th Black Crusade depending on if you go for ruins or the full buildings so with a bit of luck the new water rules will be of use.

I just bought Killzone Octarius on Amazon in the US. It was $90. Got it delivered yesterday.

In the US you can find almost every terrain set from a FLGS that sells online.
@@Mathis37 Crazy. They're all long gone in the UK!

Necromunda gang stronghold is pretty cool
It is pretty cool, can't lie

The Repentant Set is dope. Feels very scifi. The assembly is easy and brings me back to the days of Quake Arena. I love it!
I used one set of ITD to build two open tables - enough walls for two equivalents of Octarius buildings. I only needed to add light cover pieces.
Mantic produces some really useful terrain (and figures if needed)!
Very usefull! Been looking at getting a proper terrain collection for Killteam. In season 1 we used some of our old sector mechanicus terrain mostly untill we switched to ITD. Would be cool to have a nice thematic open board as well.

Great timing GHD. With the onset of season 3 it seems bizarre that all we're talking about is the terrain.
Good vid. I happily got a painted octarius for a ridiculous price of 20 pounds, and another grey one later to use as a master for octarius themed bases ( using blue stuff, trovarion style)
I looked at the tinker turf terrain and like the look of the maglev depot for £56 but not willing to pay the £220 postage to the UK.......
Ryza pattern rings still seem to be reasonably available on eBay and can be used to make split apart Nachmund buildings look a bit nicer by hiding the joining slots.
TT combat terrain or the warcry red dawn set
Currently I have been collecting color printed mdf terrian from Warsenal. Mostly for Necromunda but they definitely have some killteam goodness on their site!
I really like the Frontaris set with a bit of Riza ruins and some munatorum crates.
Great video. You mentioned the Baneblade as terrain. How about Tamiya tanks and vehicles? If so what scale would fit KT? Their kits are not expensive
Always wholesome to get a Triple Hello. ^_^
Great video, but what is the consensus on the Kill Team Chalnath terrain?
I have Chalnath. It's a lovely looking set, but it is ALL heavy terrain and so a little bit challenging to play. It's fine, it works, but it's not the most flexible play experience. If you're willing to put in some scatter terrain then it's a decent set!
Middle earth terrain is also reasonable viable. It’s in 2” blocks.
Ohhh for someone that just bought the mesbg starter set you'd think I'd have thought of that lol
Dungeons & Lasers has some nice modular terrain. It would mainly be for close quarters combat, but you could build some buildings out of it as well.
Death Ray designs make tons of great mdf terrain.
What's up with the scale of the TTcombat stuff? I've been eyeing it since GW belched out that rather vanilla terrain reveal. Is the TT stuff too small? Hopefully GW are cooking up something with a bit more razzle dazzle for the new KT edition.

Orc Sector
I'm tempted to grab the Boarding Actions/Gallowdark before it inevitably disappears forever. I like Space Hulk what can I say?
It's weird that most of the sci-fi terrain you'll encounter on display in Warhammer shops, you cannot simply say "I'll take one of those please..."
The Warhammer: 40,000 - Command Edition Battlefield Expansion Set is a good alternative to Octarius. Unfortunately you will need two of them to complete a board.
Except you can't buy it from GW atm. Maybe find them second hand though!
For sure.
TT combat relatively cheap but requires a lot of work
But I like the buildings. Was going for a Wild West in space type board.
I very much like how you’ve built and painted your deadzone terrain. 😊
