It's great to see you sharing your knowledge and specialized tools with others who have helped you, building community. You two are saying what you plan to do and following through... Excellent...
tip for grease gun, pull the rod out and lock it and unscrew the head pull old tube out take the plastic end off the new tube, slide it in and then pull the metal cap off and screw head back on then shove the rod at the bottom back in, its less mess
Good work... hopefully your home will be as beautiful and warm as I think it will be, and hopefully you will have a friend for life, with your unselfishly good will.
I was glad for the rest while I watched this. I just got 13 yards of gravel delivered. Loads of work ahead of me. It's always fun to see what they are up to. I can't imagine the work involved in recording your work day. I'm glad they do it. It actually helps motivate me in all that me, myself and I are doing.
Justin's getting a steal of a deal!!! Of course he's been there to help them out plenty of times! That's what I love about neighbors being neighbors and not expecting money to exchange hands at every helpful interaction!
A little tip for you, when putting new grease cartridge in grease gun, unscrew the the top and slide cartridge from top and you won't have to deal with coil pressure spring. Property is coming along nicely, keep up tge good work.
Keep up the good work. Helpful tip when inserting a grease tube into the grease gun it needs to be inserted from the other end not the end you did it from with the spring. Less greasy mess.
Just a heads up load the grease gun from the top! Take it from someone who greased Navy aircraft. Pull the plunger handle and clamp it with vice grips to keep the plunger at the bottom and pack the grease in put the top back on take off the vice grips and viola no fighting to get the spring back in the bottom of the grease gun
Interesting and informative video. Good on you for training Justin on the mill. Not only helps him out but helps your subscribers learn and I know that you also pizck up some new tricks.
This is really enjoyable. The sense of community you're building is, I think, better than the house! I'm just a softy but I find this crucial to an enjoyable life within the confines of small communities. I say awesome as usual. Been following (spoiler alert) the SIP installation thru FB. Starting to understand more everyday
Just a tip on changing your tube of grease, you are loading it from the wrong end, when you run out next time try taking the other end off, then pull the plunger back and there is a notch it will lock, pull out the emty tube and slide the new in and put the end back on and release the plunger and you are good to go, no mess and less time
Hopefully you can make the most out of all those logs you could even cut your own facia boards , trim , moulding , skirting , interior framing , cladding, doors , kitchen cabinets, dinning table, beds. ect or even an extra shed if you have enough left over.
It is great that you are learning to fly. I got my private pilot license back in 1972. Enjoy it as it will give you and your wife lots of fun. Make sure you keep doing it as more you fly takeoff and land the more places you will be able to visit. Johnson Creek is a great place to go for a week-end camp. Have a grand day. Making the right cut is an art and it requires practice and understanding on how trees grow.
You know...I will never build my own house, or even do any work on my current home myself...but I really Like your channel and the very detailed information you give to those that will, and do...Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see the house with the Sips installed...
Grease gun unscrew top of gun pull plunger back all the way and lock it by moving it off to one side . Do not unlock till you screw the barrel and end cap with new tube in it. Do not unscrew bottom of gun to change tubes. Put the tube in from top and then romove the pop top. Screw top of gun on loose then release the locked plunger. So there. Or read instructions that came with the gun.
Thank's Mate for another great video. You made me laugh so hard when I saw you packing the grease gun with red grease, as a former Aircraft Technician working on C130's for 15 years I know that job all too much. I thought wow how lucky I am to be retired :-D Thank's from Australia!
When refilling a grease gun pull the spring handle down and lock it then take the squeeze handle off and replace the tube metal ring side up. You will make less of a mess if and mess at all. Ohh and you can use the plunger on the end of the spring to push out the spent tube, just dont forget to lock in back before putting the new tube in.
Hello, considering that you produce a lot of sawdust, use it to dry the concrete floor of the house ..... keep dry also helps to keep clean and tidy all the electronic tools you have them .....If you have already thought about it, as you have not said. Hello and see you next time.
Another great video, guys! I like Justin in the videos, and you sharing how you interact with the neighbors and local community to benefit everyone. Keep up the great work!
Do you change your grease catridges from the plunger side? That looks like a real mess. Just pull the plunger back til it locks and take off the handle side.
That's what I like about this channel, they don't edit out the mistakes or leave in just enough for ppl. to comment on them. I have learned so much from the comments from people like yourself and others. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Yes, this was a serious thank you !!! :)
I love your videos and can't wait till the next one. Wishing you only the best with the house. I think you guys are so brave to take on such a challenge. Stay focused and be safe. May God continue to bless you!
I've never seen anyone get so dirty by replacing the grease in a grease gun. Last I checked, there are tubes of grease meant to go into the other end of the metal housing of the grease gun. Might wanna check on that.
I noticed a very big nono. Take your trailer into town before you haul another heavier load with it and replace those eye bolts with welded on d rings. What happens with the eye bolts is in the event of rollover or accident/shift they will simply open up and pop goes your load. And when you try to claim that on the accident they will tell you your load is not covered because it was not properly secured. Buy and use D rings rated for at least double the expected load. Your welcome.
I almost always learn something new watching you two. Very happy for you that your home will be up at least on the outside before you know it. Just think, you’ll have all these videos to show your children?😊👍
Glad I'm not the only one who thought that looked like blood! LOL! A thought question for you two....What one thing feels like ultimate relaxation to you? Extra points if its on the property. Your digital "friends" want you to attend to your stress levels before they attend to you! What makes the most sense to you two for ways to make sure you destress daily?
Jesse, you could easily mill a couple of timbers to make a skid for your sawmill that would keep the mill stable and straight. That would let you move the mill in the future. Think of all you could save not having to re-adjust the mill all the time.
If you pull the tee handle on the grease gun all the way out before you unscrew the tube from the head. It has locking notch on the shaft to hold the spring back. You put the tube in from the top.
I'm kinda surprised you haven't taken one of those magnet mounts and mounted a lil light on the top of the sawmill to have some light follow you as you move it. great vids keep up the work you 2.
what were you doing with the grease gun? when your out of grease crack the front lose pull the handle back and lock it. then unscrew the front drop the new cartridge in,screw the front back on release the the handle hit the air release and start greasing .
i just wanted to point out that theres a better way to change a tube of grease the blue housing unthreads from the sliver pump part i suggest you watch a video there no reason for it to be that dirty of a job
You should wear Nitrile gloves when working around grease, gasoline, etc.. you could put them on, then wear your leather work gloves over them. Your kidneys and other organs will thank you.
Fun to see the flooring! Such beautiful wood! You guys might consider getting a handful of spare chains for your saws and then just getting them sharpened at a shop. Costs a little but saves a ton of time.
I learned it as "bark at the moon", the pressure that creates the crown inherently goes from the center of the tree towards the bark, and the crown always goes up when installing a board.
Its hard to compete when every person for miles around has a mill and really theres not a large market for milled lumber unless you can undercut the big boys and that usually leaves you with a very small profit margin. And you really need to own your own wood lots to make decent money. JMO
One way to really learn something like woodworking solid is to teach it to someone else, because than you have to think about it and answer the questions.
Get a Water-level (or make one yourself) and align the log so that the centers of the log are at the same level(Given that your sawmill is leveled as well. if not then you might need to do minor addition/subtraction).
I'm not trying to criticize. I just think that it would make it a lot easier and more efficient if he knows exactly where blade is going to cut. He prob spends good 1/2 hour trying to figure out where to cut. With water lvl id guess it would take him less then 5 min. Anyways, just a suggestion.
lol...I wish utube was around when I was doing it wrong....I was always saying to myself, theres got to be an easier way.....I never bought a new one so no instructions, heck the probably didn't make instructions ,thinking it was so easy a cave man can do it!
Not sure what you're planning on putting on the SIP panels for siding. Saw a video for a beveled siding attachment for your saw. Might be worth a look.
Last chain saw blade sharpening update I saw left with a lot of "we'll see's". Have you gotten the chain sharpening honed to the perfect technique yet? xoxo ❤ from sunny 🌅 Arizona🌵, 95/70f today
You didn't talk much about the boards that came back from the kiln. Did the boards shrink or are they what you hoped for? xoxo ❤ from sunny 🌅 Arizona 🌵
you may already know this, but just in case....Milwaukee makes a cordless grease gun...both as 12 volt and a heavier one...trust me, the 12volt covers the territory for greasing your machines in a very light weight and mercifully easy manner. waaaay worth the price.
It's great to see you sharing your knowledge and specialized tools with others who have helped you, building community. You two are saying what you plan to do and following through... Excellent...

Many channels quit after they realise the work involved. Or they go from 1-2 vid a week to 1 vid maybe 2 a month.
Your kiln dried boards look great. Another productive day.
Your knowledge on milling has definitely grown. 👍

I think it is very nice that Jesse and Justin can work together . sure to make a work day more enjoyable.
Jesse voice actually dropped a few octaves... He was starting to sound like a male hairdresser, joking of course.
Great to see progress on the build. Love the vids Thanks!

I would imagine when time permits he will do a few, How to use the mill and milling timber in the future.

My sawyer milled from the small end, for the same reason. You know what you are working from.
Either or....I load mine the way they are dropped off.
Hello, considering that you produce a lot of sawdust, use it to dry the concrete floor of the house ..... keep dry also helps to keep clean and tidy all the electronic tools you have them .....If you have already thought about it, as you have not said.
Hello and see you next time.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who makes a huge mess refilling a grease gun! ; )
Loft decking. Ooooh pretty!!!!
I was going to say the same thing.

Woo-Hoo !!! two videos in 3 days. I'm feeling spoiled :) Great job !!!
Wow that lumber looks awesome. The tounge and groove aspect of it should be awesome for the flooring. Looking forward to seeing it.
Unscrew the grease gun where the silver and blue parts meet and you won't be covered in grease
I've never seen anyone get so dirty by replacing the grease in a grease gun. Last I checked, there are tubes of grease meant to go into the other end of the metal housing of the grease gun. Might wanna check on that.
Leave a trash bin at coffee shop and bring home grounds spread on with sawdust in garden bins future worm castings. Great fertilizer within the beds.
Yes! Coffee grounds are pure gold for your garden.

Announcer's voice: "The FORD F150 doesn't just raise the bar, it IS the bar! FORD TOUGH!"
I find it a lot easier to sharpen the chainsaw if i put the bar in a wise, so I can use both hands on the file. Try it out!
Best advice I've read on here today, along with the 1000 grease gun comments....
Great sharing with your neighbor. Really enjoy your vids and work. 👍
looking good !
I almost always learn something new watching you two. Very happy for you that your home will be up at least on the outside before you know it. Just think, you’ll have all these videos to show your children?😊👍
thanks again
Nice to see the kilned boards are ready.
Another great video

man - woman? lol.
Great video!
Here's a tip: for the key of the generator, if it's out of range try to hold the key against your head, that way your head acts like a antenna.
Thijs Interesting tip.
Jesse, you could easily mill a couple of timbers to make a skid for your sawmill that would keep the mill stable and straight. That would let you move the mill in the future. Think of all you could save not having to re-adjust the mill all the time.
He 's buying a trailer for it.
If you pull the tee handle on the grease gun all the way out before you unscrew the tube from the head. It has locking notch on the shaft to hold the spring back. You put the tube in from the top.
Literally the most backwards and hardest way to do a grease gun, Jesse.
beautiful decking, How can I tell? many years in a sawmill
I'm kinda surprised you haven't taken one of those magnet mounts and mounted a lil light on the top of the sawmill to have some light follow you as you move it. great vids keep up the work you 2.
Another day just "LUMBER ING " along. Lol
I thought you'd never grease those zerks again! Good job.
Imagine using the log as it is at 6:14 for a support. The scale of that structure would be huge!
another great episode guys!!!
"Tis but a flesh wound"... "None shall pass"!
what were you doing with the grease gun? when your out of grease crack the front lose pull the handle back and lock it. then unscrew the front drop the new cartridge in,screw the front back on release the the handle hit the air release and start greasing .
That's some fine boards.
You got good equipment.
Dam Jesse, talk about getting the most out of your day! You Remind me when I was young! 👍👍👍😎🇨🇱
PS. Enjoy your flight lesson tomorrow!!
i just wanted to point out that theres a better way to change a tube of grease the blue housing unthreads from the sliver pump part i suggest you watch a video there no reason for it to be that dirty of a job
Are we going to get to see what Justin builds with the lumber?
how are you using the sawdust on a garden?
Good job guys!
14: 22 Jasmine is a flower... native to tropical regions .... famous for its fragrance
and it really is delicious with green tea. With lots of love💖 from sunny🌞 Arizona🌵
You should wear Nitrile gloves when working around grease, gasoline, etc.. you could put them on, then wear your leather work gloves over them. Your kidneys and other organs will thank you.
You shouldn't bath or shower either, but we do....
Please tell me you where repairing a problem with the grease gun.
Pure living for life, You are putting this old house to shame with building your house :)
Gaining and sharing knowledge is always good.
I like the way you think Jesse.
Transmission fluid, beets and red velvet cake batter
Fun to see the flooring! Such beautiful wood!
You guys might consider getting a handful of spare chains for your saws and then just getting them sharpened at a shop. Costs a little but saves a ton of time.
how far behind are these vidjaos? not complaining, just wondering :-)
Please consider that hiding a floor decking defect with knoching a post or a beam could be causing a problem later with settling in the structure.
I would probably fix that hitch so its tight and sitting level. What part of Idaho are you in?
I learned it as "bark at the moon", the pressure that creates the crown inherently goes from the center of the tree towards the bark, and the crown always goes up when installing a board.
wondering if you could make a living selling cut lumber to your local hardware store, or even privately selling it to people in the area
Its hard to compete when every person for miles around has a mill and really theres not a large market for milled lumber unless you can undercut the big boys and that usually leaves you with a very small profit margin. And you really need to own your own wood lots to make decent money. JMO
6:35 - That looked like a greasy mess. I've never seen a grease gun come apart like that. I hope it doesn't do that to you every time.
He knows exactly what he has to do.....you know he's milled over 130 logs right!
I wish I had a cool neighbor with a sawmill...
Maybe you know this but you took the wrong end off your grease gun when you replaced the cartridge.
lol...I wish utube was around when I was doing it wrong....I was always saying to myself, theres got to be an easier way.....I never bought a new one so no instructions, heck the probably didn't make instructions ,thinking it was so easy a cave man can do it!
Not sure what you're planning on putting on the SIP panels for siding. Saw a video for a beveled siding attachment for your saw. Might be worth a look.
Why were you filling the grease gun from the back end of the tube? Seems like a heap more work and more dangerous?
Hi can Justin use fire wood ?????
Last chain saw blade sharpening update I saw left with a lot of "we'll see's". Have you gotten the chain sharpening honed to the perfect technique yet? xoxo ❤ from sunny 🌅 Arizona🌵, 95/70f today
i wonder how much higher the ground is where the sawmill is standing compared to the rest of the space
3:33 is the hitch supposed to be hanging down loosely like that?
You didn't talk much about the boards that came back from the kiln. Did the boards shrink or are they what you hoped for? xoxo ❤ from sunny 🌅 Arizona 🌵
Nicely done by leaving the cut lumber, dude.
I think Y'all need more Eco fans! {8>P - That's some FINE lumber! Great job.
Lovely

Was Jesse changing the grease tube by taking off the bottom of the gun?
Are those engines on the mill good quality? your one seems to be holding up well.
You guys are amazing!!!
I know this was awhile ago but I saw the you trailer hitch is pointed down or its slipped down a little great video's
Look up how to change out tubes of grease there’s a much cleaner easier way
