Can i recommend you watch the video by Danny MacAskill called The Ridge. Danny is a Scottish Mountain Bike rider with no fear. He videod himself cycling the Cuillin Mountain Ridge on his home The Isle of Skye. The scenery is stunning and Danny's skills on the bike are phenomenal. (there's also a making of video you can watch afterwards).
Get yourself to Glasgow and climb up to the Necropolis. Later go to the West End and the Kelvingrove art gallery situated by the Kelvingrove park. Lots to see in Glasgow and it's named in an ABBA song.
I would say June would be a good time. Fair chance of getting nice weather and long days, the sun is up from 04:45 until 21:20ish. There are many other areas of the UK that he didn go anywhere near which would give this top 10 a run for its money
@@1serendipity It is to me, I was a tank crewman. They have the only running Tiger tank in the world amongst other things. The tanks I used to work on are now museum exhibits.
If you are looking for the mythic stuff like the King Arthur & the holy grail legends, then you are looking for Cornwall and the south west of England. Places like Loe Bar in Cornwall, the lake Excalibur was cast into, Tintagel in Cornwall where Camelot was supposed to have been and Glastonbury Tor in Somerset where the holy grail was allegedly buried.
Big Ben is actually the name of the bell inside the clock tower, the tower itself is called Elizabeth Tower. North Yorkshire is amazing, the city of York with its Viking history and the magnificent York Minster, also a street called The Shambles which was JK Rowling's inspiration for Diagon Alley. Not far from York is the beautiful little village of Goathland which was the setting for the British TV show Heartbeat, the train station there was used as filming location as Hogsmeads station in Harry Potter. Then there's the seaside town of Whitby with its ancient Abbey ruins which were the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Greetings from Scotland! I'm beginning to wonder if this guy ever actually visited all these locations? He states that Mt. Snowdon in Wales is 10,085 metres!!! Mt. Everest is only 8,849 metres! Hmmm. He got the fearsome midges in Scotland right though, especially on the west coast areas! Almost invisible but they will drive you crazy! Interesting point - only the females actually "bite" - kinda like us humans! IF you ever visit Scotland, head North of Edinburgh and Glasgow until you get to Inverness, then head North of Inverness to where the real Highlands are! If you're passing by, I might even make you a cup of coffee! (Or something stronger maybe? My youngest son is a Whisky stillman!) Wherever you go, have fun!
Thanks for sharing! Scotland is definitely a place I want to visit because it seems so beautiful! Maybe one day whenever I start planning a trip you can tell me the hidden gems of Scotland.
I'm surprised he didn't include York if you like history you've got Roman, Viking and medieval it's surrounded by a wall some of it is Roman. And of course York Minster a beautiful cathedral, Right under is a Roman Fort discovered when they had to do work.
There are hundreds of stones leading for miles to stone henge, ancient places like Avebury thats near by ancient path that is thought to be for processions of the dead. Old Harry rock is named after a local pirate, his brother was killed by the French, so he went to France and pillaged a great deal of money and killed a lot of French men. He has a day celebrating him in Poole, where everyone dresses up as pirates every year. If you go to Cornwall you've got King Arthur's Castle and the lake where he got excalabar., as well as a lot more stone circles.
I can understand why people think Stonehenge is overrated I once called it a glorified pile or rocks when I was stuck in a traffic jam near it but it’s been around since before the Egyptian pyramids and the mystery of how they moved stones weighing tones across country and put them on top each other
No he didn't, even 10,000ft is far higher than any peak in the UK. What he did do, was add an extra zero to the height, instead of 10,085mts, it's actually 1,085mts. The height he gave would make it around 5,000ft taller than Everest!
@@nicksykes4575 while you're correct there not being a correlation between the two figures,Ben Nevis is only 4,411ft high , but Snowdon isn't 10,000 feet high nor not is Mount Everest for that matter.
It's not the only world natural heritage in the UK (white cliffs of dover). Pretty much all of the Yorkshire parks/country side is. He knows jack shite. And plenty more.
The North of ENGLAND is the best I live in Bridlington on the east coast of Yorkshire its great ,check out Flamborough head it's a truly great place to visit
I'm ENGLISH but to any AMERICANS who are thinking of taking a vacation to the UK is don't come here.Go to the Seychelles or the Bahamas instead that's what I would do if I was you anyway..
No the original castle was built in the 13th century and was blown up by Rob Roy MacGregor in the 18th century, rebuilt using original plans with the bridge added in 20th century.

I wouldn't say Stone Henge is overrated personally. It's even older than the pyramids in Egypt.
There is a large car park near Durdle Door. It's not difficult to get down to. Of more interest to me is the tank museum at nearby Bovington.
A tank museum seems interesting!

And Dartmoor, great hiking, beautiful landscape, legends a plenty and setting for The Hound of the Baskervilles.
