If everything has to go to a beta that's a lot of dev time to sink into this prayer book debacle that's already gone on so long.
very true, but i think when you are playing with PvM and PvP content on a level this big, it should be beta tested to help make the right adjustments, id rather the devs took their time tbh, look at how the ruinous powers went, if they didnt beta test them, we'd have had them added to the game and well... that would have been very different@@chrisnutt8395

Not suggesting any skilling/non-combat prayers is crazy. There's such a huge design space there they haven't looked into at all. I thought they'd at least have one for Guthix.

Same, just making the “grind” easier which is against the whole purpose of the grind. They can do that in rs3, so just go do rs3
@CaptnBeeBop the grind is already unrecognizably easier than in 2013.. it's laughable how fast some skills can be grinded, prayers augmenting them won't push us over that line into RS3 territory lol ...
IMO prayer wouldn’t fit unless they did skilling methods like zalcano. It’s also a great way to make skilling more combat related for lower level players. I’ve been struggling to do content with friends since the rat boss is the only option lol. (Great boss though) also the qol like the wc bag, or ore boxes 👌 rs3 is hot garbage but there is a lot of trial and error we could cherry pick.

No we only need one new prayer and it’s only for accounts under 70 defense, something like lvl 50 prayer with 17.5% att str def in one option.

this is a good way of introducing power creep imo. a lot of this stuff only seems applicable at end game bosses/raids and/or requires coordination with a team. So it doesn’t look like it would trivialize older content but at the same time it opens the door for really developing the combat mechanics for future content. Which is a healthy approach to keeping the game alive tbh
I'm not opposed to these. What I don't want is for one prayer alignment to be BIS during X activity.

One of them has to be bis at some activity, its completely impossible to release new prayers and not have them be good, no one will use them then theyre dead content. The ideal situation is having ppl with different books resulting in a new bis team loadout.

Hype for these but hoping to get more clarification on how some of them work. Like the Neutrality one in guthix (-max hit +min hit) - does it increase your min hit by a percent of your max hit? Or only increase min hit itself (so basically only work on the fang)? It doesn't say either way in the prayer itself and a lot of the other prayers have more specific descriptions.
Take the survey, it gives some suggestions. Examples were 30% decrease on max and 70% increase on min hit
@@rytr0nious yeah I saw but the current min hit is 0, so 0 * 1.7 = 0. Even after they change min hit to be 1, it'll maybe round to 2 maybe just stay 1. Unless it does increase min hit by y% of max hit, which I assume is the case but it doesn't specify, which is a totally different scenario

I remember doing WGS the morning it came out without a guide, with like 200 other random players running around and talking about it, helping each other with puzzles and having so much fun.
I only did that with one quest before and it was a small novic quest in rs3 with the Goebies. I like those dudes.

Not trying to spoil, the only thing I worry about WGS is what Jagex decides to do story wise post WGS. WGS was a great quest, it's the ones after it that were a garbage pile of trash. I'm hopeful, but skeptical
Not really. It was their decision to wake Guthix up and begin the 6th age that really left people bitter about the story. The World Wakes and everything after that was the shit ones.
What i would like to see with addition to the prayer update is something similar to the occult where we can change the prayers at the house

unsure about how or where we would change these at alters throughout the world or one that the quest gives us. Either way if it isn't convenient to get to I hope they add a way to change at the POH, could do an upgrade to gilded altars.
I think they mentioned using the god prayer books to change them, so you could potentially bring a few books with you to change on the fly
I used the Ruinous Powers during Leagues and I thought the Prayer book was pretty good, it had an upgraded version of Augury that actually had Magic damage, it had one prayer that cut down on the delay for eating food, and the original vows were pretty good. I don't think the proposed alignment prayers are all that good, I'd rather just have the Ruinous Powers released outright like they were supposed to be, they literally passed a poll. What's the point of polling them if we can't have them? It's just dumb. Jagex lets a vocal minority dictate updates getting outright canceled lol
Yeah its absolutely crazy that they passed a poll and were removed because a few reddit streamers cried. Protect from gluten was one of my favourite prayers to use all league.
Harmonize would be designed for BGS’ I would think and Guiding Strikes for DWH’s right?

I think The Covenant's of Light "Harmonise" only being 1 tick is to help counter act The Ruinous Powers "Glacies' Vow" for frozen targets in multi pking. If it was for Y ticks like "guiding strikes" it would give too much time for every player fighting to hit the Vulnerable target.
However, I think "guiding strikes" is already going to make multi pking hell now. They might need to make some of these prayers PvM only (unless I missed something and that's already done)
I would think Harmonize would refresh every tick while it's active.j Like protection prayers are probably "protect from this style for 1 tick" every tick it's active. Wouldn't surprise me if this is the way it's coded.
There's definitely room for a rework of prayers. Literal first step of any account is getting 43 prayer, the first two rows are absolutely useless & unused the moment you hit 31. Needn't even rework the screen, you can pretty much create 11 new prayers to avoid over-updating this. God-aligned prayers sound nice, and this should absolutely be a gold sink as well so that people actually need to reconsider switching.

I agree with the sentiment that things need to move forward in order for the game to stay alive. And I'm all for it. One big concern I have however is that they're adding too much in too little time. We've already gotten a lot so far and now with Varlamore and sailing I think it's safe to say OSRS is changing even mroe than it has been so far. While I have faith in Jagex I think slow and steady is the right approach with big changes like these. It's fun to see they're excited and proposing all these cool new ideas but yeah.
I think the idea is that they can keep all the god alignments behind different quests. So if they add this now while this would be a huge update for when WGS comes out it will make it the standard for any other God related GM quest.

Most of these are ok, the only one that seems crazy is the increase defense while not moving. I can already see the clips of pvpers hitting like 10 0s in a row on some guy with a dihns and full justy.

Honestly Runescape lore is better than i ever expected it to be in general.
It’s has some depth to it fore sure. The quests, if you actually do them, are decent as far as story line goes too.
Lore was pretty much the only thing RS3 did well....but it did it very well. While Guthix Sleeps wasn't an RS3 quest, but later releases built upon it in profound ways we may very well see in this variant of the quest.

I'm not sure if anything has changed there but I remember a couple years back, you couldn't suggest any changes to the game without people crying about it and immedately going for the "JUST PLAY RS3!" comment.

I don't think Seren should have a prayer book.. I also don't think Guthix should have any effect on damage.. Add skilling instead. I think these prayers could add some awesome diversity to PVP and PVM. However I think overall weapon power may need some nerfs with these additions.
They need to add random prayers that feel fun to use. How about a true move speed buff even if brief, or a "blink" short distance instant teleport, or move through certain objects (fences, trees, walls, rocks, etc). How about flooding tiles with water and it counting as underwater for brine sabre etc. rewinding the last 12 ticks of combat / movement, temporary invisibility counters by the ring of visibility,
Wish they would have the balls to do more stuff like that.

I would get 99 thieving tomorrow if I could use invisibility to steal shit off players. I would take a 100% non combat load out/prayer and spell book if it meant I got to be a menace in the wilderness with troll abilities. Would actually make the wild fun.

I mean sure whatever, it’ll just devalue said resources so that gp/hr is the same in the end because bots are pretty much the main price regulators in the game for resources
What skilling prayer could they possibly make that is interesting and not something like "boost xp/resource harvested while active"? Also having to micromanage prayers, prayer points, prayer gear, and switching god alignments before cutting trees is not something a lot of people want to do

Here is my take on this:
They are incredibly underwhelming to begin with. Why add such lame bonuses? Not to mention, think how they could effect future updates. For example, the prayer that increase poison or venom damage for example. Imgagine Jagex building off of that and adding a boss to the game that can’t be beaten without poison/venom and using that prayer with it. Just sounds SO dumb. Or all the other “help allies” type of prayers. We already have enough crap that nearly forces you to team up with other players. We don’t need more of that. That kinda stuff should be reserved for mini games. I was excited when I first saw the blog post. After reading it and thinking on it for an hour or so I just feel like this ain’t it.

What people don't realise is the character you play as is a god, don't believe me? What normal person is faster than light? Akkah pre-room, you can see the light travel and can even run fast enough to go through it without being hit (tile skip).

I wouldn't mind the zaros prayers being a drop from each of the DT2 bosses if they each had a bad luck mitigation aspect like there is for things like the tablets or the thread from TOA. Not sure if the other alignments would work as drops or not
