  • Augusta University Health acknowledges the great work of the Dental College of Georgia and the University of South Florida for developing and producing the 3D printed swab during this time of crisis. DCG built upon USF's initial research and design and are now working together to help fight the crisis.
AU Health also wishes to note that this new design was developed using the outstanding work of Dr. Summer Decker and her team at the University of South Florida as its launching point. We honor the work of USF as described here:
The dire shortage of testing swabs exacerbated the COVID-19 crisis. The rapid creation of this invention by University of South Florida researchers and the collaboration with design, engineering and healthcare partners across the country to test and disseminate this tool shows what can be accomplished when we work together in a time of need. This project has been a remarkable testament to the ingenuity of our national innovation community working together for the greater good.

I guarantee that when they did mine, they did not get the nasopharyngeal cavity. They were in my sinuses.

Yeah... but you contaminated your sample by touching the swab at 3:01
In fact, you also used this hand to tilt the head of your patient.
