This week, I pick up from Episode 11 in the Broughton Archipelago with my friends Andrew and Morgan as we explore the beauty of British Columbia, before dropping Andrew off in Port McNeil and continuing southbound towards Vancouver passing through the Johnstone Straight, visiting the Octopus Islands, Marina Island, and Smuggler Cove. We enjoy some wonderful wildlife encounters up close with two humpback whales, Dahl Porpoise riding Argonaut's bow wave, and a family of black bears on the beach in Booker Lagoon.
We also catch up on some sanding/varnishing of Argonaut's Pilot House in anticipation for the Victoria and Port Townsend Classic Wooden Boat Festivals. Thanks for watching!

We've cruised all along the Inside Passage and throughout SE-AK, so lots of whales, but never have we experienced such "close encounters" as you did! Wonderful :)

In the 50's and 60's my family encountered her many times on the BC coast.
We always had good times with the crew.

Another great video! I must say that the whale visit was EPIC! That is, without question, the best encounter that I have ever seen of whales just hanging out. I doubt that the "Nature" channels have ever shown a whale encounter that up close and personal! Thank you!!

The whales were inspecting your varnish! I have had that going on in a 16 foot boat more than once while fishing in Sooke. CHEERS from HERE!

Wonderful whale experience, Nick. My daughter is making her way as a marine researcher. She chose her path after spending years on the water fishing with me. She will love seeing this one. The humpback encounter was really special. Argonaut II is just about their size. When your dead in the water like that maybe your just another whale to them.
