In my opinion the best Break Barrel Rifles are the Weihrauch HW50, HW98 and the ultimate classic HW35.

This top 5 is just a commercial of SIG. How on earth first place can take a gun that isnt even released yet and tested by customers.

I have an RWS/Diana Model 34, and a Beeman/Webley Vulcan, and have been looking at various PCP rifles, but I'm still stuck on the break barrels. You've sold me on the R9. This is not the first list it's ranked very high on.

Wait just a minute back up, how did the Diana 34 not make that list. Shes beautiful, powerful, accurate, and German, and shes been tried and tested to be a proven gem. Fixed i say, fixed, how much did Sig pass under the table for that result. lol. All kidding aside the Diana 34 should have fallen somewhere on that list

It was a very hard choice between the Terrus and the 34. The other Diana that almost made it was the N-Tec 340.

  • @gtwolfe100

Had a HAtsan model 95-QE in .177 and it was an absolute tack driver. !00% agree with that choice. Clearly this was about actual break barrels and not the spring or gas piston action or there would have had to be an RWS Diana model 48, an Air Arms TX200, and a Weihrauch HW97K on the list. I guess since they are all side or underlever they will fall into a different category. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to shoot any of the other rifles and like everyone else I am real anxious to see what the SIg can really do. But I do find it interesting that the emphasis is put on Beeman break barrels that are actually manufactured by Weihrauch and many are simply rebranded Weihrauchs with slight modifications to the stock. In fac of the underlevers the Beeman HW97K is exactly a Weihrauch HW97K and even in .20 (the Beeman seems to only be available in .20 while the Weihrauch is available in .177 and .22 as well) you can pick the Weihrauch branded rifle up for about $30 less than the Beeman. Never been able to figure out how the name on teh side adds cost to the exact same rifle. But a really well thought out list of top quality rifles. Another good top 5 video.

To give #1 to a rifle that hasn't been released to the public is a disservice to airgunners.......reads like a commercial.
#1 should be a Diana 34. Great value, and PROVEN platform.
I like the SIG, I shot one at the PA Cup, but it needs an adjustable cheek riser before I will buy one, huge oversight by SIG imho, everyone wants to add a scope, chin weld just doesn't cut it.

    • @airgundepot
      @airgundepot  6 років тому

I would have picked the HATSAN 125 sniper over the mod 90.
I am interested on getting my hands on a Sig. In the test that you guys did earlier I recall it pushing an 18 grain pellet downrange at 900 feet per second on average..... Correct me if I'm wrong. That in itself is just amazing. That is PCP territory. I know a lot of people have been coming out lately and saying that speed really doesn't matter all that much... And to a certain extent that is true.... You definitely want you around to be stable and to hit its mark with a lot of foot pounds. Speed is a big part of that equation when it comes to foot pounds.
Speed is a big factor for me because I hunt at longer ranges. I have my Scopes zeroed at 50 yards... Because I hunt from 50 out to a hundred.

The Walther parrus has to many issues with quality control. Bent barrels not barrel droop but bent from side to side. Bought one in 22 but couldn't sight in with two scopes all the way to the right i believe. that's why they couldn't get rid of them fast enough and why they sold for so cheap. See many refurbished ones for sale on ebay in .177 that tells you something.

Three are German built guns and the Hatsan is purportedly built with German steel and bears heavy German engineering influence for that reason I don't think this list to be of much value if RWS Diana is not included. IMO a ten rifle list would be of more value than the one presented.

Sig was so great it's discontinued 😆 Beeman R9's accuracy can't be beat it's amazing it might not have the highest knock down power but the accuracy makes up for it Magnum Springers are harder to shoot very hold sensitive except Diana 48. A bit heavier but just as accurate with Magnum power. Shoots around 850 fps while Diana 350 Magnum shoots 850 and up close too 900s fps in 22 with 14.3 Crosman hollow points.

a multipump is nice, it can be very quiet with a couple pumps or a bit noiser and a lot more powerful with ten pumps

Disappointed that my Industry brand B-3 did not make the list. 35 years old still shoots like when it was new.

JAMES WALKER.....HAHAHAHA, Was thinking the same thing, I started my recent problem of buying pellet rifles starting with this 35.00 B-3 gun about 6 years ago. Although my original pellet rifle is a Bengamin Franklin pump circa 1962, still pumps and shoots well. Only 1 of my guns made the list HATSAN 95, in .30 and the gun is too underpowered for that caliber, would be great in 177 or .22 Looking at the HATSAN 125 or 135 right now, don't know why... I guess I JUST THINK i need one.

Okay I was wrong it was a 14 grain pellet at 850 feet per second. That is still smoking for a 22 caliber break barrel.
My Gamo Hunter Extreme SE in 22 caliber achieves an average of 780 feet per second with an 18 grain h&n Hunter Extreme pellet. The cocking is hard, the vibration and recoil is silly, and it has in my opinion the worst trigger on the planet. But once you overcome all those things I found it to be a tack driver at 50 yards. I would love to play with the Sig and compare them.
