About the open lots missing buildings; there are buildings coming. It's just I've not had enough time on my hands. 104 *unique* buildings is the goal I aim for. I might do a compromise and shortcuts, but in the end it should feel more busy :)
@@johnny67hanssen I will have a chat with Giants when I'm back home from vacation to see what I can/should/must do for another console test. Even if they do test, it's not a guarantee it will come for console.
Johnny, the issue as I mentioned or think I mentioned is its a 16x map. its 16 times larger than a standard map and we have yet to see a 4x map come to console let alone a map 4 times larger than that.
One of my most anticipated map. I live not that far from the real place (~5 hours drive). No cotton, sugarcanes and grapes is natural. Non of those are grown in Norway. (You can grow grapes several places but not really large scale), But i see the author said they will be added. The treelines are natural. It really looks like that where there is forest, then smaler trees and then "no" tree, and the line is like a curved line.
The two buildings under construction which you mention cannot be sold is also an oversight. Sorry about that! They will of course also be able to sell. It's just missing the right piece. Perhaps I should do a hot fix first thing when I get home from vacation :)
I'm surprised you can't find any contracts. That's a new issue I've never seen. The missing crop types will be fixed, sad to see my complete negligence to check up on what I got from a third party who helped me work out the growth plans, who seems to have removed the crops you mention. That goes against my core ideas of directing how someone should play. I want the experience to be open ended. Even though you won't see the ai plant grapes or sugar canes, it shouldn't stop you from doing so.
Nice map- looking forward to the next version with more buildings, etc. I think I would play this with just crops common to Norway- ie no cotton ;-) Latitude is set to the standard +40, which is around Spain, but the author helpfully added the actual latitude for the area as a note in the environment.xml file, +64 degrees. This makes the days about 5 hours long in the winter and 20 in the summer - an interesting feature.
Things to consider on this map. 1: Course Play is super helpful, in fact its about the only way to use farm workers. All the fields hug the landscape and none are square to the map grid. 2: Nov-March it gets dark early, it can become pitch dark at 4pm, the lights in-game do not turn on until much later so there will be a time when farm yard lights are off, and the place is still dark. 3: This map is gigantic and a lot of driving is involved to bring produce to market. 4 There are only 3 bridged across the river, one of them being a very narrow bridge that is very difficult to negotiated with anything larger than a pickup truck. 5: The sell points are few. I love this map for it's beauty, and accuracy. However there are times when a map can be too accurate. I have added more sell points and two more bridges to make getting around this map easier. The high plateau could be played like NoMansLand, as a blank canvas, and just that part of the map is huge.
I took like a year or so break from FS and your videos, but trying to get back into it, I have spent the last several day binge watching many of your map videos as well as DLC videos to catch up. This map looks to be what I am looking for, lots of areas to build where I want, but the fields are not huge, yet there is a lot of space to drive around. It seems in most maps you are confined to a tiny world, or you can get a larger map where every field is huge. I don't mind medium to large fields, but often the 4x maps get huge, and many tend to not have as many areas to build my own things. I like having a bit of a sandbox to grow into, and it would be interesting to be able to drive across the map to sell my crops, forcing me into larger semi-trucks, which are really over kill in most standard maps. I have little interest in forestry but it is nice to have so much of the map free of fields, and yet more than enough farmable areas.
@olahaldor great job on everything, downloaded your most recent i found and i see the fixed grapes but not cotton or sugarcane (granted most likely not the area for it geographically) I did notice the updated building plans which i can't wait for but does kinda throw the immersion seeing the white placeholders. @Farner Klein might be worth doing an updated review now that allot has been fixed and updated!
I had a great, and pretty realistic time, excavating a road up a mountain side to gain access to a high plateau to create a cattle ranch. I built two towns on the map that offer lots of sell points of various kinds along with production. While this map is of Norway, it also reminds me a bit of the Columbia River Gorge that is in my backyard. Anyway, still enjoying this map.
Beautiful map. Took a lot of plots and ended up merging them into one absolutely massive field. Starting just across from the vehicle shop, every time I got enough to buy an adjoining field, I'd merge it. It ended up going from the plot next to the brige closest to the bakery, streaching far far East until some bloody creek preventing expansion. I highly recomment buying multiple identical sets of tools and uing the multitool function of courseplay. I've had zero contracts at game start, but after a few hours or so, they'd start popping up. Joker seems to have problems with my deliveries of wood chips. Sales trigger was touchy.
Wow that's awesome! Would love to see that in action. Joker trigger should be fixed in the latest update of Buildings of Norway. Are you saying it's still not properly working?
@@olahaldor Dec 10th? I really couldn't tell you. Thought it was tied to the map and not the buildings part. I started playing it on Dec 1 or 2... I was using Contracts as an excuse to get Autodrive set up for all of the fields, but problems started cropping up... the "The map might be too big for my computer to handle" type of problems. This was my first larger than standard map I've played. But I decided to try other maps to see if that was really it. "Other 4x maps" didn't have these issues. The UA-camr I was watching play his map didn't have those issues. When I watched this review, oh, 16X, I knew it was big... but yeah, 16x might be too much for my pc when you own, or have active contracts on too many fields. The problems I figured were my pc related: While having work going on my main field, I'd take contracts to pass the time, and I'd courseplay all of them. I think borrowing equipment and having 30+ courses going on at the same time was just too much for it. That last save stuttered and crashed, and when I tried to load it, it was corrupted and gone. I could try the map again, and check to see if Joker has been fixed since that update. As long as I exercise a bit of restraint on active courses... i could do it.
@@olahaldor I guess you're right. The game lets you borrow the equipment, and another mod lets you take as many contracts as you want.... I could, so I did. Looking back, not the best choice. For the three years I've spent developing I've never had this issue, and it's never been reported by anyone else who's tested it. I got a note from someone earlier tonight that they had used a "survival mod", which still affects the game even if disabled. I don't know more than what they wrote, but worth checking out if you have had it installed at any time.
@@olahaldor no i don't have survival mod installed if anything i only had the base dlc's and perhaps courseplay and a couple of machine mods but nothing that would affect gameplay ie contracts and stuff
I tried to load a few times to check contracts, I always get 3-5 contracts from start. But when I load it with the Better contracts-mod, I get like 10-15 harvest contracts and some other from start, without clicking 'New contracts'.
you can see why the Norwegians jumped in boats and turned Viking. not enough farm land to feed a growing population, in the valleys, and trying to invade the next valley over is like trying to assault a fortress with those high mountain walls. too easy to defend. much easier to jump in a boat and go somewhere flat and soft. like Britain. or France. or Russia. or Byzantium. anyway great map. downloading.
I hear you :) There is a reason it is what it is right now. I've only spent 2-3 hours after rest of the family has gone to bed, almost every night. I only have so little time on my hands. Interiors that look good and feels believable in each unique barn will add tenfold the time required to make a single building.. each building taking 10-50+hr to make already, made to scale and based on scans and photos. Now, this may not be so forever, barns can be updated later due to being placeables. It's only a visual thing. However, what do you expect when you enter a *norwegian* barn? Because there's no barns anywhere which will let you feed the animals like you do in default barns where you drive a vehicle through. Feeding is done either with a robot, mechanically with a roof hung feeder on a track or heavy, manual labor. Entering a building would be only to see they are present, and have no practical impact. Thus why I've skipped that for now and focused on more farms and buildings as well as iron out as much as I could for version 1 on the map itself. :)
