My prostatectomy was about ten years ago and my PSA has climbed to 2.4 as of last week. My doctor wants me to speak with a radiation tech about what to expect and the reasons why I should consider the treatment. Thank you for the information.
Many thanks for watching Fred's. Yes I hope in a few weeks time it will be undetected. I enjoy doing my little videos to try tell people how it is. Again appreciate your time.
Thank you sharing your story and updates. I heard today on the BBC that doctors in Oxford have developed a new imagining system to help surgeons detect microscopic prostate cancer cells. Sounds like a big breakthrough in making surgery more effective and safer.
Thx Walter for watching. Yes I did hear about something on the news but will look further into it tomorrow. Just back from Latvia and just catching up. Many thx for watching and taking the time to message.
Hello Neil, Thank you very much for sharing the latest news and progress after the final surgery. I’m happy to hear you are on the mend. The outcome result is an incredible news after 3 weeks surgery. You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem. I pray for you and Speedy recovery! Larry, from Malaysia
Great news, my friend! I was diagnosed last year with prostate cancer Gleason 3+4, PSA 5.6. I had 28 radiation treatments with 3 months pf Lupron therapy. I was the unfortunate 5% that experienced all the treatment hardships and indescribably pain for 5 weeks. Two months out from treatment, I feel great, no pain, bleeding, etc. Next PSA test in two months! God speed to all of us who travel this road.
Anthony, my gleason and PSA was exactly the same as yourself. No hormone therapy for me. i've no doubt if the latest radiation hasnt' worked then that's my next route. Glad youre feeling better now mate. Speak soon and thanks for watching my little updates
@ne I'm glad that you refused the hormone treatments. can you please tell me what's going on now? If they persuaded you to take hormone treatments finally. I am one person that doesn't believe in hormone treatments. I'm not hating just saying what I think.ildavidson7768
Many thanks Steve, I hope your biopsy results come back favourable. It took 5 weeks for mine to come back. The wait was the killer. Many thx for watching and commenting
Hi from Hong Kong. Glad to hear your PSA has come down. I would have done the PSA tests too in order to know where you are going. It was already a year ago when I did the surgery with positive margins. Fortunately my PSA so far remains undetectable.
Many thanks for watching in Hong Kong. Glad your psa is undetected. I thought for a very small price I was curious to see what it had came down to after 3 weeks. Hopefully I will get the undetected in another month's time. Appreciate your time
Hi Neil, that's brilliant news buddy. I would do exactly the same. I've just had my 14th fraction today.....6 more to go. They did a PSA check on my first day of treatment and it was 0.25. The specialist radiotherapist told me they might wait either 2 or 3 months after my last session before checking again and that it may take a few tests for it to come fully down which could be 6 months. As u know, people might criticise but we know that 3 months and 6 months is aa long time waiting. I will probably get mine checked privately after 6 weeks to see if its dropping. Good luck mate and enjoy the summer😊
14 down 6 to go, your nearly there mate. I found about this time the most challenging with loose bowels and urgency to go. It wasn't really an issue though. stick in there mate and all will soon be done. Some people want to know some dont. I'm 1 of those who love stats to see things actually working. Was 0.20 now 0.09 after 21 days. Blood test 3rd week in July so hopefully be undetected. It gives me another 5 weeks of summer to relax a bit knowing the results are going the right way. Cheers for watching and commenting. stick in there bro
Paul, that's so very kind of you mate for the donation. All monies made from UA-cam goes straight to a cancer care place near to me. Every little penny means so much to a volunteer run centre. These centres are so vital to the communities, a place where anybody can go for tea coffee and a biscuit, but most important somewhere to go and chat to others about issues. I appreciate every person who views my little channel and I know it's not for everybody but if I can help 1 person to aid their recovery then I'm happy. Appreciate again your kind gesture.
Hello Mate, just watched your latest update that’s really promising news looks like everything is moving in the right direction for you, keep up the good work my friend. All the best to you. 👍
Julie, yes it looks like things are going in the right direction, but I said that this time last Yr. Thx for your comment I really appreciate everybody who takes the time to say a few little words. X
Another great vlog. Not sure if you saw the interview with Professor Hamdy, a professor at Oxford yesterday, my husband has been under his care for prostate issues. He spoke about what essentially is a dye which glows and ‘clings’ to prostate cancer cells, so they can be seen better. I am sorry about the loss of your partner’s mother. Best wishes for a continued recovery.
Zelda as always many thanks for your continued support. I haven't seen the interview but will Google it now. I had heard about it but was busy yesterday. Hope all OK.
Sugar, many thx for your comment. I'm doing fine to be honest, still tired from the radiation but week by week it's getting better. Radiation just takes time. Psa test mid July which will be 8 weeks after my last dose. Glad I done my 2 random tests in Latvia to be honest, it's good to see it working and the psa going down well. Appreciate your time mate keep well
Hi there we’ve had such a beautiful sunny day no rain ,we we lived in Grimsby it was a lot cooler ,now we’re back down south ,enjoying our remaining years ,I hope you beat this disease, unfortunately my girl went through hell and her radiation left her black scorched skin ,I actually don’t have any faith in the medical profession ,you’re very lucky in that you’ve had good results I ,pray you will beat this horrible disease, god bless you and your family take care
Sheila that's a lovely message and many thanks for watching and taking the time to message. Radiation haven't left a mark on me so looks like I'm lucky. Just have to sit and wait another 5 weeks for the final outcome. Thx again appreciate it x
Hey Neil, I'm not a 100% sure I'm correct, but I don't think it matters if your PSA drops to 'undetected' as there may still be some prostate tissue (that is not cancerous) somewhere in your body that is producing PSA. I think the main thing is that your PSA reaches a certain level and it stays there. BTW, I also think that the rate your PSA is dropping is a good sign and check with your urologist but it may indicate that it is less likely to spread to your lymph nodes. Anyway, all the best. Sounds like it is going well.
Greg, sorry to hear that PSA went up. Been there done that after the operation so know how you feel mate. Keep strong bud and thanks for watching and commenting
.29?!?! Don't you think you should wait? Wait until it gets to a number that can be seen on a PSMA pets screen? I listened to one recent oncologist saying that wait until it hits one and a half or two! Before you do anything! Best of luck anyway.
Just had my PSA done last week after 3 months since RAD. 0.001 another test in 3 months. Past readings start 7.4 surgery, 6 months after surgery .060, then radiation 7 weeks now .001.😎AU.
Hawkman appreciate your time. To be honest I haven't changed a thing. Nobody have told me nothing about diet etc, 1 other viewer was saying about processed foods etc but no nothing have been said, cheers for watching.
@@neildavidson7768 Hey, Neal. I am a Prostate cancer survivor as well. I had a prostectomy in November of 2020. Its all indivdual choice but, let me share something with you. My father died 2 years ago from prostate cancer, my brother is still living. Food, has alot to do with it. It seems diet is key, continued good luck and success and health to you.
Hi Neil 100% your choice on checking psa figures and at what intervals, i had 39 r/t sessions and adt for 18 months, 0.03 psa at the moment and will get checked again around Christmas, god bless all those on the pc journey
Heh!! You're a diamond mate. The cancer care centre will be getting your donation my friend. I told them I have somebody I don't know from America who contributes. They are so grateful my friend. Many many thx again it really does mean alot.
I really do like your videos but I hate to tell you you made a big mistake with the radiation. You should wait till one and a half or two pops up. Something of substance sold the PSMA PET scan can see something. Oh well you did what you had to do I guess Good luck. This is why I hesitate on any treatment when the oncologist suggest radiating the whole area with THAT reading. Unbelievable.
hi there Rick thanks for reply, i can def see where you are coming from. I suppose i was just desperate to have the radiation just wanting them to sort as soon as possible. I didnt think that i would get a scan at 0.2 PSA so was just suprised they agreed. So yea do agree with you mate but still we have to make those decsions. cheers mate keep well
