This toccata is an anomaly in the genre - it sounds magnificent at any (reasonable) tempo, whether fiery (here it is quite marvellous!) or at a more stately pace.
Etienne Gigout himself tent to run it at stately pace AFAIR.
Most today players render it way to fast. It is not a runaway, it is an entry into Heaven.

Oh My ***** WOW !!! One of my favourite French Romantic Organ pieces - but played like I've NEVER experienced before. Utter virtuosity, musicality - and on what a magnificent organ as well!
