Stratford Square Mall’s Final Days | Permanently Closed

My final walkthrough of Stratford Square Mall. Filmed on 4/20/24 at 4pm & 4/21/24 at 5:30pm. The mall closed permanently on 4/21/24 at 6pm. Stratford Square is going to be demolished soon for redevelopment into a mixed use area with restaurants, entertainment, retail, housing and public open spaces.

I spent countless hours at Stratford as a kid and eventually working there as a teen. Later on in life I was taking my kids when they were younger. It was very sad to see the decline over the years. Seeing stores turnover to a different store then eventually nothing in its place. I was sad I was not able to go one last time before it closed forever. When I think back to my childhood and my teenage years I will always have great memories with my friends at Stratford Square, going to the movies, eating at the food court, walking around for hours. A huge staple of my young life.

I’ll miss my “downtown” so…
The only option for us Carol Stream kids in the 80’s to experience what a downtown was like. So much going on and so many walks of life. Quite a community atmosphere.

I always thought this was such a great mall. Great aesthetics and it was so busy back in the late 90’s when I worked there. I still stopped in even after I left and it surprised me how it slowly declined. I wish I could have stopped in one more time.

Northgate Mall Seattle closed in 2020.
