Same, no audio within Retroarch - Checked to see if retroarch was muted in settings, but not muted. @blainelocklair any guidance or anyone with a fix? Update - The current version tested today 02/10/2023 via the download link shown in this video & linked in description seems to have audio issues after following the guide & loading games. As a workaround I tried a stable version from 'Libreto Docs - For Users - Playstation 2 - Stable Version' that can be found by clicking 'Compilation Instructions' instead of the download link shown in this video. Games work with audio :)
@@Tropix_02 I ended up buying a decent gaming laptop from B&H Photo for around $950, and I now run emulators on there. Emulators are way easier to set up on PC. But playing Saturn on a PS2 sure sounded fun…
Went to launch it and only get a black screen. I have no more clues to follow of where it might've gone wrong or what might be making it not work, so I give up
I would prefer Retroarch on an original XBox though...only because of Progressive Scan support. On PS2, most games only support interlacing, or may support Progressive but with a weird buttons combination you have to hold on game boot-up, extremely few games have the Progressive (480p) option in their options menu...
The OG Xbox is a sweet mod console. I have.a Crystal with a 2TB HDD mod. I think that, for those with a PS2 instead, maybe this gives them some flexibility to try something new. Some of the content runs fairly well.
@@CarsandCats well not really, with all the special edition colors, the Crystal one might be just as much as the black XBox, maybe like 20-30$ more, but not that much. The more expensive, but still common, are the translucent blue and green ones. The translucent blue here is much more scarce because they were only available thru Bell Canada (cos blue is their color) with a specific deal you had to pick. Maybe the Crystal color is harder to come by in different countries, but still a bit common in Canada. The big problem though, is when you get a translucent case, is finding a console with a shielding that doesn't have rust on it, cos it's gonna show, when the case is black, it barely show, only maybe thru the sides and back vents only, and if you open the console.
For some reason after I saved the settings I made (before opening RetroArch for the first time) it put me back into Free HDBoot and now I can't get back into FreeMcBoot... any idea how to fix this? (I fixed it but I don’t wanna have to reinstall fmcb every time it doesn’t work)
Doesn't work. After saving the settings, it'll just keep crashing and rebooting the console. Does this program need to be moved to the HDD for it to work correctly?
Same, after selecting a game and then core, it will just revert to the standard PS2 MC browser. I tried this with multiple USB drives. This has happened with one other unrelated eft when a subfolder was missing from the eft location, but I believe I have the retroarch stuff intact, still doesn't work. Could be related to my sensitive Version 1 US PS2 system board.
@@gassie62 I gave up, lol. On this program anyway. Tried installing it on 4 different PS2 model numbers with different parts and drives. Same result on all of them. Went back to just playing on the individual emulators instead. 👍
did all correct but it will not launch from Free mcboot menu. anyhelp please , also how can i quit game and go bk to main menu without keep restarting ps2
This isnt a video about getting freemcboot or freehdboot on your console, this is about getting retroarch on your console when you already have freemcboot or freehdboot "installed" so I don't know why you'd ask this question in regards to a retroarch installation video. Nothing about the process keeps the ps2 from running games like normal through the drive. Unless you specifically modded your ps2 in order to circumvent the fact that your laser is dead, but that's unrelated to anything the mod does to your console.
HELP!! How do i get Ps1/ps2 games to work. Also is there an in depth video of specifically what files and such need to be for each emulator to work? Currently the only emulators that are working are ones that came on the formatted memory card i bought and not the ones in the systems folder.
I set this up today. It worked once and when I tried to play it again, I'm getting a "parent directory not found" message when I try to load content again. Anybody else having this problem?

Emulation on ps2 can be choppy..Unless its changed since .
A little. At least it's a option. Some of the lower-spec titles seem to run ok.
PS2 RetroArch is surprisingly competent. I think the SNES emulation through RetroArch is better than SNES Station.
