I had my excavator at my house for the week last week here in NEPA , so I took 5 minutes to dig a 12’ deep hole to see what the ground is like cause we had all clay when I was cutting my driveway in with a dozer 10 years ago , I found a tiny clear quarts crystal so I felt good about it and to be continued. 😂

I know you don't discuss the money aspect very often, but I have to ask; who buys the $10,000 crystals and how long does it take to sell them? Are they sold strictly at shows or at private auctions? I know there are others in your audience who are thinking the same thing, if you could please take the time to explain in a video, or on your website. Thank you Brian. 😊

A lot of very high end specimens get sold at the Tucson Gem show. Serious collectors and buyers from all over the world converge for the largest show in the USA. Lots of the best pieces are actually bought from Asian buyers. I remember Ted (RIP) the owner of Ace of Diamonds only did one show and it was Tucson.

This is a private mine, correct? Can you perhaps explain more about what causes the "golden" Herkermers to be that color and the ones next to them are clear? Specifically, what is it in the soil that has created the golden color?
I'm joining the members club to see the live digs that I love to watch and maybe even go on a dig when they are in the New England area. I'm in CT. and we don't have any spectacular crystals like you see in Arkansas or North Carolina. We have farmers, and they say Amethyst, but if one is lucky to get permission, and find one, they are very pale, almost clear. Nothing like the grape-jelly-purple ones you found in North Carolina with your friend at his family's mine.

Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here:
    Bryan,
Could you slice a skeletal Herkimer and show the internal crystal architecture of those amazing specimens. Not one of the best ones, of course... but maybe a cull. That particular site produces such complex crystals. I would love to see you display and explain how they form.
Thank you for sharing the hunt with us here in UA-cam land. It's a pleasure sharing the muddy trench with you!
    Keep tasting the grit!
