Thank you for sharing your experience, LizK. I'm a neophyte at growing succulents. I started Jan 1, 2021. Of the YT channels I've been watching since then, yours is one of the most informative and fun to learn from. Some are too serious, others too superficial, and others filled with too much annoying music. Cheers!

Another perfect timing! My first Ellen is coming this week! so excited! by the way "daruma-shurei" is a Japanese name. "daruma" is a traditional Japanese round doll & "shurei" is Francesco Baldi. The person who first imported it from Korea to Japan named because he thought it's like a round form of Francesco Baldi...yes, your pronunciation is perfect :)

Growing succulents are like holding sand on your hand. Open hand they remain; close and tight and they fall out. I just plant them in good soil, place in good location, water when they need it and they seem to thrive. The one's I kept prodding and checking and touching and over watering seems to die....LOL

I think daruma shurei is not korean word, it's a japanese word. If you goggle the word daruma ,It's just a red head with face but no eye ball . They use it mostly for business as a sign of luck , at first it doesn't have eye ball ,so first you have draw eye ball on one eye, then once your got your luck for the whole year then you have to draw the other eye ball. Daruma is good for one year, after that you have to give or surrender it back to the temple, they are going to put it on fire.
