Oh, Emet-Selch by a country mile. But there's still so many good ones that it was a tough race for most of it. The Chais, Lyna, Ryne, even the Hythloshadeous managed to bring a surprising amount of personality to the table.
Shadowbringers has a strong cast all around. The Scions have a lot of good moments, Thancred and Ryne have a tremendous arc, and basically every member of the supporting cast shines in their moment. Gotta give my vote to Emet though, he steals the scene every time he's on screen.
5.3 was one of the best story segments I have played in any game. Elidibus really landed with me. He really had the feel of someone suffering from Alzheimers who knew their drives and desires but can't remember the connections between anymore. He went from "that guy in the white robe" to one of my favorites in one patch.
When they say that the various heads of state had their finest craftsmen working on their weapons, we should have heard the WoL yell, "You're welcome, by the way!" from off screen. At least for those WoLs who have maxed out all their crafting jobs. ;)
Every single react I have ever watched for 5.3 has been like this. The writers and the voice actors just nailed it. Some aspects hit harder with some than others, like you mentioned with Seto and pet owners as an example, but this entire sequence for everyone is gut punch after gut punch that is masterfully delivered making this story one of the best (if not the best) stories I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The "villains" having understandable motivations that just happen to be in direct opposition of our motivations is what makes the emotions well up so easily starting with us feeling bad for the "bad guy" in being the loser at our hand. Good luck with End Walker fellow Eorzean.
Onward to the final patch that is essentially the prelude to the conclusion of the Hydaelyn/Zodiark saga, the end of a 10 year journey, and the "final chapter in the tale of this star."
You feel like we didn't win because you finally understand *why* they were doing it. And you do what must be done, but you empathize with them too. THIS is what makes Shadowbringers the best story in the game. Yes, even better than Endwalker, which by itself is still incredible.
it makes sense to feel conflicted. in persevering your own existence and that of your friends you damn the ascians. If you were in his position you would most likely be acting the same as him...but just on the basis that you have the same goals at the expense of each other you must fight.
That's what makes this story so good. You are each others villain only because your goals are in direct opposition with one another not your motivations which is what allows us to empathise with the Ascians. For one of us to succeed the other must fail "and to the victor goes the spoils". It's a masterfully delivered story that allows us the realization that in reality the "villain" many times is only the villain to the victor.
So many great moments in 5.3. But god, the Seto cutscene makes me blubber every time. 5.3 was the greatest patch. I’ll remember it for the rest of my life.
ok I think he is at a safe part. I think you should react to 2 Videos. They are all ff14 shadowbringers related. 1. [FF14] Masayoshi Soken - LAHEE 2. A Very Important Message from Soken & Yoshi-P (FFXIV Fan Fest 2021)

@@YvaiatheDemonMy jaw hit the floor and I litterally let out a cheer when I recognized it as the implication is that we have earned Emet's approval as wardens and caretakers of the Star and he wants his friend Elidibus to be able to finally lay down his duty and rest.
You should maybe turn off the microphone option that reduces other audio's volume when in use. Its very disorienting having the background music/audio turn off and on constantly.
Look for the communications tab in the "Additional Sound settings" (Windows 11) or Sound settings from the Control Panel (Windows 10) for the options under "When Windows detects communications activity:" and chose "Do Nothing"

having the feeling that he's both someone suffering from alzheimers, and also just a child that shouldn't have had such responsibility hits hard too

Perfect response, “Why didn’t it feel like I won?” Such a heartbreaking patch
Fun fact: right after 5.3 dropped we got the yearly moonfire festival and it was a hilarious whiplash emotionally
Emet selch be Like “everybody gets one”
I always forget how deep Elidibus’ voice is… then I hear it and have to deal with the fact I’m developing a voice kink lol
@WillfulWonders between him and N’zoth from world of Warcraft it’s understandable. Il’gynoth’s voice is nice on the ears as well.😂
