Beautiful! I have loved Christmas since I was a small child. Although I was married on October 20 (1973!), I made sure that we had a fully-decorated Christmas tree for our first, and all subsequent, Christmas(es). I discovered minilites soon afterward; and, within a few years, my trees were festooned with 3000 lights, each of which was held vertical in its position with a twist-tie. I was working two full-time jobs, so, hanging the lights (on a live tree!) began the day after Thanksgiving. Over the years, I have gathered many, many Christmas decorations -- enough to decorate a fifty-foot Chrismas tree with two-thirds left over. I have been collecting C-7 strings and lamps for several years, specializing in GE "Satin Glo" and similar Paramount lamps. Indeed, perusing eBay and similar Sites leads me to believe that I have the largest collection on "satin" C-7 lamps on the planet. Your tree is beautiful.
Hey MaryAnn and Joe: Kind of lost track of what year it is supposed to be. Might do some Halloween but it will likely not be a mega-display. We continue to have pressing matters that crimp our time. YV continues to share caretaking duties regarding her 93 year old mother. What's more, my parents, aged 87 and 85, are having to sell their house in the mountains due to health issues. So, we have been going up there on weekends for the past couple months helping to pack. Ever since Covid started, there seems to be family and other matters and duties to attend to. The good news is last week we did get a break and attended our annual vintage Christmas convention and I shot my customary footage of the museum room, so I will be putting a video together of that.
@Ho-Ho-Boo I'm so sorry to hear that. It's tough, I know we did the same for our parents. And obviously, family matters are way more important. I'll keep you both in my prayers and thoughts. Keep in touch.
Your music, likewise, was spot-on. There is a mystery in virgin birth, and minor-mode music captures that for me. Save the triumphant, major-key hymns for Christmas morning. For me, the Christmas magic is over when I wake up on the twenty-fifth. I love my Savior, and I Iove my God; but celebrating a birthday should be a time of rejoicing -- not of humility and awe. I love Christmas, but I love Jesus and His Father more.
