The Yamaha AN1x was a brilliant instrument engine only let down by an interface that Yamaha seemed to have designed as an afterthought - I know I used to own one. I really hope that Yamaha have finally taken this vintage classic seriously this time around and built it the interface the AN1x always fully deserved.

what I heard from Yamaha is that the engine isn’t actually based on the AN1x engine, it’s a new one

@@petrikyto that would make a lot of sense seeing the AN1x officially was the world’s first ever virtual analogue modeller (or afaik). The original could sound incredibly deep and musical, and many comparisons rightly often made between the AN1x and the CS80 in terms of sound and dynamics. It’s just those horrible controls on the panel, so steppy and plastic feeling. Not proper high resolution encoders as would appear on other virtual synths later like the Access Virus. Andy trying to get patches to be the same volume was a lesson in pure endurance and pain. I’d love a Montage M. What a fantastic piece of kit.

I sampled mine before I sold it, I only made middle C samples though not multi samples. I still use them. Now they have software to do multisamples of your synths In those days there wasn't any.

Waiting for the day Yamaha will make separate (independent products) AN-X and FM-X synths in both hardware and software form.
And i would NOT mind a VL or a FDSP either!

Can't say I'm a fan of alot of these ANX sounds, poster child 22:07 like WTF is that. There are some gems in there but they seem few and far between. I kinda wish they could focus more on AWM maybe by developing like an AWM3 because AWM is their best sounding engine by far.

I’m disappointed. I own the Montage M original. 16 voices for the ANX is dumb. I have a Moog One true analog with 16 voices. Come on Yamaha! I own a CS80 - the real deal. Yamaha, you need to put in 32 or 48 or 64 voices of AN1X. I can do better with the U-He VST!!!! Until I see a *real* advantage, no sale here.
