  • I recently bought this Makita DLM464PT2 LTX Brushless mower. Here I unbox, review the features and give it a first use. I then give my final thoughts.
I bought this myself so it isn’t sponsored at all.
    Just my opinion.

Having seen this, I am glad I went with the Ego 52cm Self Propelled. As I am usually all Makita all the time, this was the first time I've jumped platforms. The self propelled models in Ego were cheaper than the Makita ones and the handle folding and the polycarbonate deck is lighter. It also has (two) deadman switches (one for cut, one for drive) which take a little getting used to but are great once you do. So far so good... I am glad I don't have to push it up the hills :P

I have just bought the DLM 480z, 19" plastic base as I have a manicured lawn (no rocks etc), it folds up better and stands up on it's end for storage. $580 from Sydney Tools, much lafger range than Bunnings.
Already had double charger and batteries from Makita DUX60 36v whipper snipper I bought, with changeable tool ends.
If you insert batteries in charger then take out, you can change from charger beeps to five different tunes.

I got the Makita XGT 19 inch lawn mower package LM001GT203.
Cuts long dense grass without issue.

Cool. This dealt with the long grass ok but some of my ‘softer’ spots it bottomed out on the ground which made it stall.

Neat! We have had the DLM431 for nine years (I think) and it has worked like a dream! Until last week, when one of the wheels fell off... 😅

Nice, and crap. I’m expecting many years from this. And hopefully much less maintenance over a petrol mower.

@@oojagapivy Haven't done any maintenance except sharpening the blade and removing old grass, but you'll never get away from that!

Nice job mate. I’ve got the Ozito 36v mower. Does a decent job and the dog doesn’t attack it like it did to the old victa 4 stroke. Am hoping to get the dewalt one when this one packs it in and cannot be repaired.

I did consider the ozito on and off, but just thought, “another battery system”. I also learnt towards the dewalt. It looks good. But again, I’ve already got this makita system in the rise.

8 month on and how are you getting on with your DLM464 ? I'm over in the UK and last week i bought the DLM460 , pretty much the same mower but the grass extraction hole is half the size . Loving the mower so far but did go hard on it for my first use . Next cut is next week so we'll see how we go 👍

@@jompy151 I love it except for the slope of my yard. I’ve also bent the blades hitting bamboo stumps down the back. It’s heavy but works great.

    • @jompy151
      @jompy151 10 днів тому

@oojagapivy Yes they are heavy but having owned plastic framed mowers in the past and having them crack i'd rather pay extra and deal with the extra weight of the steel frame , that bamboo sounds a bugger , just think what it would have done to a plastic frame mower 🤔
Yes those slopes in your gargen look serious and i bet the camera doesn't do them justice either ! Like you i decided not to go for the self propelled version due to more weight , added expense and my garden only being small as you can see in my video if you get chance to watch it . Next time i think i'll just go over the garden once on height setting 3 and see how that goes ! Take care 👍

Mulching's great, but it won't mulch long grass. it needs to be short or mowed grass collected, then mowed after a few days to mulch it. or raise the blade, but it won't mulch very good with bladed raised too high. Good luck. I put the catcher on my rotary mower for the first time in 8 years and it catches better than it mulches! oh, and keep the blades sharp. Cheers.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. I’ll have to mow this a few times to get then length right for using it on mulch I think. I certainly collected well. Thanks.

Just bought a cheapo $150 ozito mower black friday special from Bunnings. My lawn is flat and I mow regularly. Mower is awesome 👍

Makita you need to work out the rear discharge as it clogs up fast not everyone want a bag as we want mulch to keep it fed and green. Widen the discharge and allow the flap to let it go
