he seemed kinda unhappy to me...almost too goog for this world...and i say that having only discovered him 2 days ago and watching interviews etc for the past 48 hrs and trying to sleep
Love this version. Been listening to this take long before the studio cut came to my ears. And when I finally listened to the studio cut, it paled tremendously. This version has the utter raw emotion dripping through every single word that the studio lacks. This is easily my favourite JB song. And in my top 10 songs of all time. Complete genius.
Anyone who thinks the "Official" version can hold a candle to this one is deluding themselves. That bridge sucker punches anyone who has ever experienced betrayal
I was just thinking how it's more bluesy, particularly that section (the chords) and his subsequent guitar solo. Love the little cough pick up by the way.
The admiration and love I have for Jeff buckley is indescribable. He always comes along after a bad or tough day and when I’m in need of inspiration. Also a coincidence that he and I have the same moon and rising m. I checked out of curiosity. May Jeff forever live through his music and in our hearts and minds. 🧘🏽♀️☀️
While this town is busy sleeping, All the noise has died away. I walk the streets to stop my weeping, 'Cause she'll never change her ways. Don't fool yourself, She was heartache from the moment that you met her. My heart feels so still As I try to find the will to forget her, somehow. Oh I think I've forgotten her now. Her love is a rose, pale and dying. Dropping her petals in land unknown All full of wine, the world before her, Was sober with no place to go. Don't fool yourself, She was heartache from the moment that you met her. My heart is frozen still As I try to find the will to forget her, somehow. She's somewhere out there now. Well my tears falling down as I try to forget, Her love was a joke from the day that we met. All of the words, all of her men, All of my pain when I think back to when. Remember her hair as it shone in the sun, The smell of the bed when I knew what she'd done. Tell yourself over and over You won't ever need her again. But don't fool yourself, She was heartache from the moment that you met her. My heart is frozen still As I try to find the will to forget her, somehow. She's out there somewhere now. Oh she was heartache from the day that I first met her. My heart is frozen still As I try to find the will to forget you, somehow. 'Cause I know you're somewhere out there right now.
* But she just can't change her ways * And my heart is frozen still * Dropping her petals in vain, I know * Or sober with no place to go * All of her words, all of her men * I think I've forgotten her now
I discovered first this alternate version then the original during the early 2000s. This is raw emotion, full of melancholy. I don't know but this version always makes me shed a tear. Is this version available on Spotify?
Forget Spotify. Search for a collection titled 'Rarities From NYC' at a blog called 'blonderazorblade' at Blogspot. UA-cam is not letting me post links anymore they disappear immediately but there you will find the promised land of Jeff Buckley appreciation.
oh God, Jeff Buckley could have become so big ... like Jimi Hendrix and the Doors and Clapton, he had as much talent and sense for music like all of these...
Jeff actually preferred smaller crowds and places such as Sin-e to the larger venues. That was what made him so beautiful in my eyes, pure and "so real"...
My future wife can be christian, protestant, jewish, muslim, democrat, republican, heterosexual, bisexual, homosexual... But she has to love Jeff Buckley... No just kidding... She can't be homosexual, duh... :D
@CargadosCarajos well dude there is a hollywood movie just confirmed recently that will be in the making very soon. Robert Pattinson wanted the part badly but Reeve Carney will play Jeff which is awesome cos he looks very similar to Jeff and he is an amazing singer as well check out Mr Green Vol 1. :)
@0LittlemissLola A lot of people's singing style is similar to Jeff's. When he was alive and after he died tons of people found inspiration in him, and still do. Jeff's range was greater than Robert's, though. Jeff voice was way more developed too, in my honest opinion. Robert's got a great voice and some good music, but he'll probably never live down Twilight. This is coming from a male who hasn't seen any Twilight movie also.
the version of this song never fails to make me shed a tear, oh man.
this is probably my fave Jeff Buckley song, great version
life always brings me here..
again and again

"I think I've forgotten her now..." so full of emotion ♡
Ahhh, those harmonies at the end 💟
I really really like this version more than the official one. It's so sublime, his voice, the lyrics... it makes you wanna cry...
First time I'm hearing it, really enjoyed the guitar solo too :'( but yes very raw emotion coming through in this recording
this song is soundtrack of my life
I didn't think I could like this song more than I already did. Then I heard this version. Amazing.
I felt the same way. I love the "oh"s at the end. Wonderful, simple arrangement with so much -- maybe "too much" -- emotion. Gorgeous.
perfection from the whole band..those drums!
He was capable of every genre. A gift from the Lord above. Such a perfect blend of everything.
This is my favorite version of this song, RIP Jeff Buckley a true legend.
Good Lord. How I miss you so Jeff.
i honestly cant compare jeff buckley to anyone he is really in his own league as far as im concerned! and i love this version its more stripped back
He sounds even more pained here... so incredible. Why did he have to go young? not fair!

Tmw you come here to say the same thing you already said and are just like...yep past me knows what's up.
Sweet, deep, sad. A favorite although I can't listen to it often. heart breaks all over again...
2:48 he coughs... Great version. Bluesy.
I liked it, made me think of choking up crying. Goes with the song.

great version
bloody amazing, the hammond organ makes it on the album version though! One of Buckley's finest middle 8s.
Genius.

This is somewhat more heartbreaking than the other version to me !
