I’ve noticed that foreign docs who did med school in different countries have good pt interaction (barring language issues) than many us mds. They do med school after high school, and it seems their degrees are much easier. But they do residency and rest of training with us. Says something about our medical school education system. Unnecessarily hard and depressing. The amount of suicides I know about by age 27 is ridiculous and I don’t think happens in other fields. Every time I open Facebook I’m waiting to see if ppl are posting memorials (slight exaggeration but you get my point)
Yeah the whole argument about "maturity" makes no sense when the rest of the world does med school after high school, and their doctors are fine and often have better bedside manner and clinical skills training
Doc, I get what you’re saying. But it’s not the navy seals. We’re here to treat patients but the system doesn’t give us time to treat ourselves. With the amount of studying and late nights and pressure and material, student resort to junk food, quick food, lack of exercise, lack of nature, and lack of yoga or whatever puts them at peace. They’re in libraries for thousands of hours. They barely see friends and families and that’s supposed to make us hard?
Dr.Ossareh, can you do a video of how to do research in med school? When and how much should we do research? And how important is it for residency ? Thank you!!!
I have always wondered this question... and I hope you can answer. I am looking to go in the medical degree but I also want a family... so my question is what is the proper age/time to be looking for girlfriends and what not. Because I know medical school takes a lot of your time and may be restricting when it comes to girlfriends l.
I'm in first year medical school I wanna time technique to study well and references that are good for me in this stage. how many hours did sleep when you at first medical school
My question would be this: what is the real link between being sheepish (sorry, my harsh term for what this socialization process is) and being a good doctor of medicine and providing care to human kind? Seriously, think about it deeply. In truth, there is absolutely no evidence that this is the case and yet people, their individuality, their own purpose behind what they do, are sacrificed if not destroyed for this dogma. Call me devil's advocate, but I just prefer to use my mind, again something that's not necessarily promoted in such a sheepish and non-thinking environment. I don't doubt that people create and perpetuate their own misery by thinking this is the only way to be without ANY evidence to support it. What would you say if the data were actually gathered and it was proven that this socialization stuff does not benefit or is even harmful to the practice and advancement of medicine? After you lose yourself to it? Just some thinking points for those who like to think ;) In general, I care to be a critical thinker in life and I CERTAINLY don't just do what others do because they tell me to without any proof. But hey, that's just me :D (no ill intentions, I just like to provoke thoughtfulness in others and enjoy thoughtful discussion!)
This actually extends to a lot of things in life, a great example would be religion cause in religion, you have to do what God says, no questions asked but I think if we try to understand the wisdom behind it it makes it quite easier to endure. And I think the seniors should explain it to juniors why do they want us to behave in such a way then if we can appreciate the cause surely we will be willing to follow their "orders".
@@istiaquehossain3395 surely it would be nice if seniors explained it to juniors why they want them to behave in certain ways, but the thing is that a lot of it is based on solidified traditions rather than rationality and evidence.
He’s not wrong, but boy is it soul sucking and isolating and incredibly tough on relationships.
I have been watching u since high school on how to apply to med school now i have my final med school exams next week...thank you❤❤❤❤

@Allan Jackson Yea, I've been watching on flixzone for years myself :)
Residents work 24 hour shifts and no sleep. 100 hour weeks at 50K instead of hiring 2 residents.

Great and informative vid. Having a positive and realistic mindset is super important.
On Point as always Dr. Ossareh ! This was what I needed to see during a long day of studying. Thank- you...Keep it going!
Can you talk about bullying in medical school/residency? How often does it happen?
I think about it as my own way to be financially independent and support my family too
Must taste bitter before sweet

Why Lecturio is so good?

Having to stay up every other night is NOT healthy, it is not just a mindset LMAO.
Awesome vid once again
Good perspective. Do you have tips for internal medicine rotations?
