I see them as what medics are supposed to do which they call 'reflecting.' In the Thirlwall inquiry Brearey says thngs like "on reflection...I am sorry for what SHE did." Her saying the reason she thinks she did it on purpose is that she continued trying to deliver medical care despite inadequate competence ("not good enough") is a meaningful reflection, and in her first police interview she says what it refers to. It refers to not knowing how the ventilators work or what the medications are supposed to be doing times when she had been left alone, and her never knowing when to pick up the phone again and again to phone the consultants...who were WORKING FROM HOME. That similar incriminating phrase "He's not getting out of here alive" if you read the testimony it refers to Dr B packing up to go home leaving very unwell baby in Letby's hands. The doctor (called Dr B in the trial) replies "Don't say that" and leaves...but then comes back after a cigarette and the baby lives one more hour.

Accusing consultants, a police force that didnt have a scrap of evidence, a defence that surely could have done better. A prosecution that had a freeride, backed up by a judge who probably owns a judicial black hat, just in case it's ever needed again. Lets not forget about the star of the show, the Welsh wizard himself Dewi "im never wrong" Evans, well maybe once or twice. But he is sure he got it right in the end. Finally the jury, ok they can only go off what was fed to them by the barristers in court. But also by the media who for years before any juror was chosen, bombarded the public with a somewhat bias view on the nurse pulled in for questioning on the murder of babies at CoCH. Among'st those bombarded were the eleven future members of said jury. There isnt one morsel of doubt in my mind that Lucy Letby, for what ever reason it may be, was set up and doomed from the very beginning of this horrendous nightmare.
The Not Fit to practice Drs who have plotted and schemed to scapegoat Innocent Lucy from the very start for their Gross Poor practices and laziness resulting in their really embarrassing mistakes, So embarrassing that they would rather wrongly send a wonderful young Nurse who was actually Fantastic at her job to prison then the truth of how SHIT they Actually are.
@HENNAtabasun1990 yes and the fact that she was so critical of herself really stands out to me that her character is one of altruistic which I believe she displayed during her time at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Given the failings in the unit, it was possibly feared by the consultants that there would inevitably have been a formal investigation into the underlying issues including into the competencies of the doctors. In that scenario, the consultants would have also predicted that Lucy would provide compelling evidence against them. So it is very possible this was a strong motive for the consultants to protect their livelihoods and reputations by pinning the blame for the unit’s failings on the (fabricated) criminal activities of Lucy. Certainly a more credible and obvious motive, than for any motive that Lucy might have had for harming the babies.
