Hi Scotty! Thank you for the nice compliment. Your guinea pig videos look like a great resource for animal lovers. Plus, they are super cute. Thanks for your support! : )
Very clever, John! Would this or a slight variation of some sort work with a very large stone with a culet and pointy back (sorry, I can’t think of the proper term? I have a really gigantic hollowed out quartz piece with loose seed pearls and tiny smoky quartz stones fully encased inside that I cannot for the life of me figure out how to set. I don’t know what was used to seal the two halves of the quartz “case” together. I’m very new to setting stones anyways, and so far have only done a few tube and basic bezel settings. I want to highlight the piece with a pretty minimal setting around it, though. I really wanted to just have it drilled to add a bail, but the jewelers near me won’t touch it and I’m afraid to try it myself.
Hi Wendy, As you know, I haven't seen your stone. So, it's impossible for me to say for sure whether or not this is the solution that you've been looking for. But, this type of setting is very simple to accomplish. It's also very forgiving. What I mean by that is if you're not the world's best stone setter yet, you should be able to handle it. Good luck with your project. Thanks for your support! : )

I’m confused. How did you go from the blue wax piece to the silver metal piece?
Here's a link to another OJA video that will explain the lost wax casting process.
