In the flashback sequence, the shaggy guy(whose name is Arthur) pushes off the skeleton guy(Lewis) because he had gotten possessed by a spirit in the cave, which is explained by the green creeping up his arm and across half of his face.

Go back to the scene were the guy pushed him off, then slow it down a bit. You'll notice the dog followed them and the Shaggy guy's arm turning green.
That is because he was being possessed and the dog could sense the evil spirit forcing him to move. If you pause the video after the other guy falls you'll see a picture of the Shaggy guy crying because he never wanted to hurt his friend.
Lastly, neither one of the living members (shaggy or the blue girl) can tell that's their old friend. They just know a ghost is chasing them.

Not really. Watch the new video titled "Freaking Out". In it Arthur (the shaggy guy) is shown to be looking for Lewis (his dead friend) and next to the picture of the ghost is question marks. He isn't sure if it's him yet.
Their actual names are Arthur (shaggy) Lewis (purple) vi vi (blue) and mystery ( the dog)

Other things that she missed while during while they were falling down the mirrors each one had a reflection but eats reflection was different as you can tell from the blue hair girl she has no eyes whatsoever in her mirror and for the other dude his arm is missing you were his robotic on me supposed to be and then the darts the dogs male is crack and then doing the flashback the flashback contains the dog holding a severed hand severed arm in his mouth that severed arm was from the dude the possessed arm thank you
The reason the Shagy killed the purple guy is because he had a corrupted arm that would take over and make him evil, and make his eyes black and green. That's why he had a robotic arm, because he had to take the 'evil arm's off so he wouldn't be taken over by evil powers.

He didn't mean to push him off the ledge. If you saw him, he was taken over by something that made him push him off. Of course the ghost didn't know that, so that's why he was vengeful.

I really have no clue the story behind the animation but I think that the Shaggy orange guy pushed the purple guy off cause he was possessed by something, then cut off his arm and replaced it with the robotic one which is why he has it since he might feel guilty or something like that.
The story basically is the yellow dude (Arthur) was possessed and pushed the purple dude (Lewis) to his death and Mystery (the dog) turned into a kitsune like creature and cut Arthur's possessed arm off. Vivi is the name of the blue girl btw
Honestly arthur isnt a jerk, his arm had a mind of its own and he obviously shows signs of being unhappy afterwards, mystery had to rip his arm off resulting in the robotic attachment. He only tried to get his mind off of lewis to forget what he did.
Vivi does not remember any of this because of her amnesia

So the Shaggy lookin guy's name is Arthur, the dog's name is Mystery the girl's name is Vivi and the ghost's name is Lewis. The reason Arthur pushed Lewis was because he was possessed by a spirit which made him do it. Also Lewis and Vivi used to be a thing. And there's a theory that Mystery is a kitsune (a nine tailed fox)

The "Shaggy guy" isn't a jerk. He only killed his friend because his arm became possessed or something like that. The girl lost her memories of their dead friend and the guy who accidentally killed him is searching for him.

It wasnt himself who pushed him in, some force made him angry and the hand pushed him off. the "dog" ripped his arm off because it was possessed and that's why the dude has a robotic arm.
The behind the song is that the purple guy used to travel with them and they got into a death cave and Shaggy got possessed and pushed the purple guy into the death spikes. The blue girl [lets call her Cassandra] Cassandra was heart broken and never forgot about him. A few years later, Shaggy and Cassandra and Scooby-Doo aka the dog aka Spike [I like to call him that] explored the mansion near the cave purple guy was pushed in and Purple guy went to the mansion and haunted it. Cassandra noticed purple guys ghost was remembering her more. So she knew that Purple guys ghost was purple guy. Cassandra was shocked and tried to get his heart but Shaggy grabbed her and got out of the mansion.

Their names are actually confirmed to be Arthur (Shaggy guy), Vivi ("Cassandra" or blue girl), Lewis(Purple guy), and Mystery(Dog) along with the story. Lewis wipes Vivi's memories involving him since she had seen him fall on the spikes(seen by the purple glow in her eyes after Lewis falls in the animation), so she didn't know it was him as the ghost. Lewis was trying to give her back her memories, which were inside his heart, but before she could open it, Arthur pulled her away because he thought she was going to get hurt.
Sorry if I came off as rude in any way, I just wanted to give the canon story to a new fan of this wonderful fandom!
in the flashback i think you see a small dog like thing behind arthur, i think that thing possessed him and made him push him

to explain the flashback bit, the 'shaggy' guy was apparently possessed by....something which made him push the skeleton guy to his death, and the dog ripped the possessed arm off him and hence why he has a robot arm now.
And shaggy ran with the girl because...he was scared and the ghost was like trying to attack him so he had no reason to think there was anything good happening there. He also doesn't know the skeleton guy is their old friend.
For the explaination of the cave, he was possed whitch is why half of him was green. His arm had to be amputated and replaced with a metal arm.
Also, during the falling scene pay close attention to the mirrors that fly by for each of them.

arthur(yellow dude) was possesed, and thats the sole reason he pushed lewis(pink skelly) and the reason arthur has a prosthetic arm is because ben(the dog) bit it off of arthur for him to be free of the possesion
The story is basically, the purple ghost (his name is Louis) used to be in the group, until they went into the cave and the orange guy(Walter) got possessed by a spirit and pushed him down. The Dog is actually a fox god? And bit Walter's arm off. And when Louis died he erased the Blue girls(ViVi) memories so she didn't have to mourn

And for some reason Vivi lost her memory of Lewis and the only way to get it back is to open lewis's "heart" but out of fear Arthur grabbed Vivi before she could open it

The singing ghosts are called the Dead Beats and that's still one of the best things in the vid.
I prefer this gang over the Scooby gang. they are so much more interesting.

He didn’t push him off intentionally, if you look in the background there is someone there right before he pushes him off.
Arthur(shaggy) pushed Lewis(fred) off because he was possessed by a spirit that dwelled in a cave(the green that covered his arm and half of his face) when Lewis died something wiped Vivi(velma)'s memories and Mystery(scooby) tore the possessed arm off
there's also a sequel to this which is "Freaking Out" you should check it out too if you get the chance ^^

Arthur (the one in yellow) had this thing going on with his arm where it'll make him do terrible things, hence him having it cut off and replaced with the robotic arm after killing Lewis (the one in purple). Lewis was Vivi's boyfriend (obvious of which one she is), but she had amnesia after Lewis's death. I'm still trying to figure out the demon dog
And by thing going on with Arthur's arm, I mean a spirit in the cave
You missed the part when he had a evil side
It was because Aurther (the shaggy guy) got possessed so he cut off his arm and got a cybernetic arm and his Vivi (the only girl) is the girlfriend of Lewis (the ghost) but when he died Vivi forgot who Lewis was.
It was because he was kinda possessed by a creature. If u want to learn more about it the creator made a video explaining more about the creature. Btw the creature is in another video them made called Freaking Out. It will explain a bit more to the story

According to the comics while exploring the cave in the cutscene, a demon apparently possessed orange hair and in turn pushed his friend off the edge spiraling down to the stalagmites.. of course he still blames himself for the death and Lewis aka the purple skeleton ghost blames him as well for not knowing the entire story.. but regardless I do ship Vivi the blue girl and Lewis regardless if he's dead
Theory:
The shaggy dude pushed him cus the green substance in hin forced him to. Thats why he had a mechanical arm.
