*A Cautionary Tale:* Once upon a time there were 2 young women, both commoners, who were fortunate enough to have royal princes fall in love with them. One was full of herself. She thought she knew everything, and aimed to *transform a thousand year old monarchy* to suit herself. The other was confident, yet wise. She committed herself to learning how to *transform HERSELF* into the epitome of what a royal wife should be. While one woman became regal, much loved, and admired, the other was regarded with distain and booed in the streets of the kingdom.👺👸🏻
What I love about Catherine is that she frequently re-wears her outfits. Not the fancy ones, like you mentioned about the "Bond" gown, but her dresses and coats.
Again as I suggested that beautiful daffodil yellow dress should have a half slip under it. I could see through her dress with the bright Sun shinning.🫣
I counted 12 commoners who have married into royal families in recent years. 11 have tranisioned successfully and become much loved members of their families & contribute fully to their country & adopted countries. 👍
To me, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark had the hardest transition to accomplish. She had to move from her native Australia to a cold far northern country Denmark. She had to become not just a competent speaker, but a FLUENT speaker of Danish, a notoriously difficult language. Crown Princess Mary has melded into Denmark and performs her duties admirably. After her, it would be Catherine of Wales. Both lovely women, beautiful mothers and supportive wives to their husbands.
@@kathieprater2431 How is that different from the transaction of the Argentinean Maxima Zorreguieta to become the wife of the Dutch heir (and now King)? I think Mary and Maxima both had it harder than other civilian brides as the others, like Mette-Marit of Norway or Kate of Cambridge (now Wales), could remain in their own country, did not have to learn a new language and kept their family close-by.
@@susanstacy2493 that showed right from the start. when she turned up at the Invictus Games with her then boyfriend Prince Harry, in ripped jeans, white stilettos and a shirt that looked like it belonged to a 6ft 4 male, whilst Harry was in "informal tidy" of Dockers and blue shirt but brown shoes (before he forgot how to polish them)
@@joannagodfrey5111 You're right. I forgot about the first IG when they had first begun dating. She did look terrible. How much better would she have looked with a simple black top and crisp white pants and some simple shoes? She would have looked 100% better and given off an "Audrey Hepburn" vibe with a simple yet elegant outfit. Her choice of clothes hasn't gotten any better. She looked the least messy and most put together at the polo game - although I've said that she might have been dressed inappropriate for the occasion - but other than that I can't think of one outfit where I could say that she looked good!
I think she tried her best to push the Queen's buttons, meanwhile looking awful and messy, but the Queen is a very patient lady. Meghan just wanted to provoke the system so she can cry victim, in how she looked and how much it costs, very nauseating, truly, so many kids die of starvation and contaminated water, so so insensitive. Cruel really
I’m glad that you fairly pointed out Catherine’s issues with flying skirts-definitely not found of that or the short skirts at the beginning of her marriage, but she learned and is setting a spectacular example now. As others have pointed out, Megan never wanted to learn. It’s almost as if she was purposely flaunting the rules, whether they are official or not. It’s telling that she wore so much French couture rather than trying to showcase the skill and beauty of British designers. It was all about her, where Catherine, even in what she wore, was working for and promoting the UK and her people.
Megan set out to be obstructive even before she first landed on terra firma in the UK. Her aim was and still is, to be as obstructive as possible, breaking every rule at every possible opportunity and she is shooting herself in the foot, all of the time. She will never change. She behaves like a nasty, vindictive, trollope, with not an iota of elegance, even in shorts. She has no redeeming qualities, no natural warmth like Princess Catherine.
All these fashion "rules" have been broken by plenty of other royals, including Diana and some even by the Queen herself, but hey let's all pile on Meghan because making her out to be a villain generates clicks.
If you represent ANYTHING, these rules loosely apply. If you represent a plumbing supply house, you dress for the occasion and position - you don't show up in a bespoke suite.
@VINODA RAMESHA Because she did not follow the rules and guidelines of becoming a member of this organization. She thought she knew better; she didn't. She thought she was better; she wasn't. She thought the rules didn't apply to her; they did. She refused any responsibility for all the choices that she made that when she knew they were mistakes because they were against the rules of the Royal Family. Essentially she signed up for a job and then she refused to do it the way it was supposed to be done. But instead of getting fired, she quit and blamed it all on them. Narcissistic behavior.
She is about my age, so I think it was a fashion for us at one time. I also wonder if Harry likes it because her hair is NOT pulled back perfectly like all the women in his life. Maybe they think that is rebellious?? Dunno.
People seem to forget that these rules apply to royal events not on private time. These events are the workplace for the royals. It's no different than me wearing a uniform and tied back hair as a nurse or a MacDonald's worker wearing their uniform. Megan didn't seem to understand that.
More of us should adopt the rule about wearing color. A friend of mine wore an emerald green taffeta dress (with petticoat) to the annual big chamber Christmas networking event, and probably ALL 500 people at the event noticed her. Another has an all white pantsuit that she wears when she's in charge of events making her very easy to locate.
Megan is in denial that her body looks like a matchbox on two sticks. In 99% she picks up clothes that do not fit her body type. In comparison, Catherine can wear a potato sack and be stunning as she has that rare natural beauty.
As a woman approaching age 70, I can attest to the fact that panty hose covers a multitude of flaws. I never liked wearing them but certainly appreciate their utility.
Ditto, I was a former pageant state queen (back in the day), and most of these rules are ones we had to follow. Of course times have changed. We even had to sit a certain way, get out of a car a certain way, and NEVER cross your legs… lol
I'd never think of going without tights to a formal occasion or to the office if I was wearing a dress or skirt, I'd feel half dressed. Nothing worse than bad presentation. In the UK we do wear high end, formal day wear for weddings and Christenings and need to look polished. Badly groomed legs, fake tan or other such horrors just don't cut it.
@@snorlonikins1 You are spot on. she gets them free from designers and she resells them on her website and pockets the money. the designer Christian Dior asked her not to wear any more of their fashions as she makes it look bad. that white refrigerator of a dress she was wearing at the Jubilee was supposedly by Dior and they were aghast at how awful she made it look
Catherine is the epitome of fabulous, classy, class, divine, loyal, gorgeous, a true princess that can sprinkle fairy dust on everything and everyone, makes everything look so genuine, loving, lovely, warm, gold-hearted, everything the succubus is not.
Catherine is down to earth and I think honestly Grateful. Meghan was never Grateful. Meghan thinks her little scheming constitutes work, instead of Real Work For The UK. She though her thinking of tips to the press without getting caught (ofcourse they told the Palace), her trying to finagle her way out of what she hated and pushing Herself Forward in what was given the Most Press Was Work. She Never Tried To Conform to the Royal Women dos & don'ts, she tried to get Everything Her Way! Crying to Harry when she didn't. Kate just put her head forward and Did The Actual Work. She was Kind. Meghan is rude, Complaining, bossy, generally what The Brits think of us Americans, she met the expectations. She Embarrassed Us!
Catherine brings about £8 millions GBP to the UK economy every year by buying (and supporting) local UK designers. When she buys something local, it drives sales. Princess Charlotte brings about £6 millions following Mum’s steps.
We get you don't like the royals but stop hiding your venom and jealousy behind faux concern for " the poor oppressed". The royals bring billions every year into our economy from tourism facilitate international trade and diplomacy and every head of state since George III have given the rents from all crown lands the the treasury in return for a salary which the queen allowed to be taxed despite no legal or moral obligation to do so.
@@henriettejosephine You missed what was being said. Catherine buys British clothes on the High Street, and rewears them. She always has done. She also dresses the children in High Street clothes. When she buys designer wear for special occasions, she buys from British designers. People then go and buy what she and the children have worn, thus creating jobs to the tune of £8 and £6 million. Please have a look at the charities each royal supports, the charities the royals have started, and their enormous work for charity throughout the decades, before criticising them. They have done, and are doing outstanding service for the charitable sector.
@@mbd6054 Here's the issue: many of those fashion houses make clothes for Katherine exclusively. When it came to Meghan and Sarah Ferguson, this practice wasn't really extended to them. Indeed, Sarah looked horrible wearing British fashion that didn't fit her properly. The press ridiculed Sarah for this despite Sarah not having as much money as Diana and Kate. Now, the same is expected of Meghan who refuses--rightly so! Why wear British fashion that will make you look horrible so that people like you and the tabloids can talk about her like a dog!
That’s amazing! And it looks like she spends only about £100k (which apparently taxpayers don’t fund). It’s a good example of contributions the RF make to the UK.
There’s just no comparison between Catherine and Megan , class 🆚 crass !!! Megan as much as she likes to dream will never be a KWEEN for the Sussexsquad and that’s the only thing they want is KWEEN megsy 🤣 Catherine is beautiful, full of grace, dignity and class , Megan is just not likable no matter what she dose , she also needs a new stylist ASAP!!!
And this happened after she was advised from the palace staff on what to wear. The first violation was at the baptism of The Cambridge’s third child. Everyone was asked to wear blue. MM showed up in brown🤬
It seems to me that Meghan really enjoyed finally being able to afford fancy designer stuff. Kate on the other hand always looks so classy even in affordable dresses. It’s a miracle the Royals put up with „M“ for as long as they did.
Meghan Marble had net worth of over $5,000,000 when she married Prince Harry. I hardly think she was clearance shopping at Walmart. This was money she earned herself, not inherited or paid by rich relatives. It does not boost Kate up by running Meghan down.
The rules are fair. And the “Palace” has a right to set these standards. It doesn’t kill anyone to abide by them. You make a very good point: they represent and serve the Queen & / British people, and a hundreds of years old institution.
I wonder why Markle is so upset. Any job has dress code and expectations for behavior. Catherine and William do very limited PDA due to knowing representing the Crown is a job and requires professionalism. No boss would allow staffers to hang off of each other all the time.
I agree. I’m a native California, and our dress style is very casual and relaxed. However, if I were to marry into the royal family or any posh British (European) families, I’d happily abide by their rules and standards. Off duty, I’d dress how I like - It’s not hard. MM is selfish and a spoiled jerk.
@@mattier.9095 When MM WAS a working royal, she abided by royal protocol and dressed appropriately. She followed the rules. No longer working why is she being slagged off. Any excuse to tear into this woman
Looking hot and sexy isn't very difficult at all, but to appear regal and classy one must have those qualities within... A future Queen shouldn't dress herself like a harlot. And Catherine definitely knows how to get dressed appropriately according to her role. Nothing to say about the other woman... she's what she is. No outfit is enough to hide her dark personality.
I sew and I usually buy hem weights at the fabric store. It stops the skirt or dress from blowing up but it makes the garment wear beautifully which is why I go to the trouble. You can of course buy them and sew them into any skirt or dress you already have. It’s super easy & inexpensive and takes your outfit from say Macy’s to Chanel couture.
It’s all about respecting other cultures and religion. I will visit the Vatican next year and I know that I will ensure my shoulders and arms are covered. I want to show my respect to other countries’ traditions/religion/culture.
That spectacular gold “James Bond” dress is now part of the Royal Collection. It was announced about a week after it was worn to the premier. It will join other iconic Royal outfits, such as the wedding dresses, which will go on display on tours round the country, or in museums for a short time, so that they can be seen up close by the public. Sadly, it means that Catherine will not wear it in public again.
Catherine was a knockout in that beautiful gold dress! Her picture was published worldwide because of how she looked in it. Sensational! Everyone admired her wearing that dress.
Proud to be Swedish and that our crown Princess Victoria supports Swedish brands. Even buy clothes from H&M. Princess Estelle has even worn a few of Victorias old dresses.
Crown Princess Victoria is my absolute favorite! She’s beautiful and seems very happy. I also love Catherine and Mary for class, Maxima for being extra and Rania and Letizia for style.
No, you’re quite right, Catherine might turn up in a dress that costs hundreds but she also wears chain store clothes and jewellery and she rewears them. The necklace was a gift all good rules
@@user-jy3zl2vp4b Princess Diana was known to wear costume jewelry. I don't know specific items, but I understand she wore earrings and necklaces that were costume jewelry. There's a picture of her in an evening dress, red -- or red and black -- and she wears an impossibly long string of pearls. They're wrapped around her throat in front, but then they go way down her back and are knotted about 2/3 of the way down. I can't imagine using real pearls for that.
We had to follow a strict dress code when I was on duty. I was a nurse. Tights had to be worn. If you are in a job with a dress code it must be adhered to . It is the same for our Royal family . On duty...follow the rules.
I'm an ex army nurse, we had the same rules as civilian nurses had. We stuck to the rules and everything was fine, if we didn't...........potato peeler comes to mind lol
Catherine does sometimes wear black. If it during the day then she will probably wear a contrasting colour jacket over the top. Her black evening dress for the top gun premier was exquisite. Amazing that mm can spend so much money on "custom" made outfits and she still doesn't look out together. Her outfits never compliment her figure and often don't fit.
Completely agree. I think that the biggest issue that MM has is that she doesn’t really have her own ‘style’ in the sense of what suits her body, and reflects real self-assurance. I think the author hit the nail on the head when she said that MM tries to dress like an influencer. MM really copies other people like Princess Catherine and it just never works. The walkabout prior to the Queen’s funeral is a case in point. Catherine looked very well in her dress. MM looked like she pulled a cheap black dress off the rack that was two sizes too big for. It made her ankles and feet look very odd and she just looked frumpy. She needs to quit copying other peoples’ styles and trying to make what looks good on others look good on her. She needs to find her own personal style within the Royal dress code. I don’t know if her personality would allow for that though.
I loved the Queen herself, showing up wearing white right after Charles and Camilla exchanged wedding vows because Camilla had worn white to Charles and Diana’s wedding!
What was "fair and unbiased" about it? First, the title is 'How Meghan Markle disregarded nearly every rule', not 'How younger royals are disregarding the rules'. Second, do a quick search for images of the Duchess of Cambridge. You'll find hundreds of photos of her not wearing a hat, and some with her wearing one. Then do a search for Duchess of Sussex. Same result. Quite a lot of pics of Meghan wearing a hat. But let's select the photos of Kate wearing one, and naughty Meghan not wearing one. Then let's do this for a whole bunch of style choices to make a video damning Meghan for doing the same things as Kate. No wonder she and Harry wanted to leave the UK.
@@lyrebird9749 Well said! Not only that, Kate's has access to £30 million dutchy that Meghan doesn't. Whereas Kate has NEVER PAID for her own clothes, Meghan has! Therefore, this is another bash Meghan video so that the commentator can earn money!
@@fredrika27 Exactly. Kate would have access to as many clothes and stylists as she wants. The whole 'Kate versus Meghan' narrative is just to sell papers & videos etc. I could easily make a video showing how all these fashion "rules" have been broken by plenty of other royals, including the late Princess Diana and some even by the late Queen herself, but Meghan is an easy target because she is American and darker skinned. Sad to see so many comments here supporting this rubbish.
@@fredrika27 MM’s clothes were paid for by Charles’ Duchy funds during the entire time she was part of the working Royal Family. She is proven to have spent millions on her wardrobe in the year and a half she worked. She spent more than ALL the royal women of Europe COMBINED. She paid for none of it; Charles paid for it all. You can research this-there are annual reports of these expenditures.
Meghan wears clothes for a much taller person and they are not fitted to her figure so the price tag is a waste of money! The clothes Meghan had on in New York were just dreadful for the occasion and weather she is always allegedly copying other peoples styles that’s why they don’t suit her!
I'm not the first to say it, but I think probably a lot of the clothes are loaned to her and that's why she can't have them tailored to fit her body. She wears an outfit once such as the white paint suit at the IG and then we don't see it again because it's returned to the designer. She thinks she special because she's wearing a designer creation and the designer gets free publicity. But, MM usually looks so sloppy that I wouldn't want anybody to know if she were wearing anything that I designed or created!
@@SK-su3pt I couldn't believe that nobody checked the weather forecast before she and H went to New York on that ridiculous trip last year! She was dressed for late fall or earl winter, not for the weather that New York was having at the time of their trip. She looked ridiculous! Also, that short white dress that she wore was a big mistake because it showed every lump and bump. I'm not being cruel because I think it was a few months after Lili's birth, but still, somebody should have told her that it was very unbecoming and made her look bad. I guess it's like that old story about the Emperor's new clothes! Nobody wanted to be the one to point out something so obvious!
Someone apparently forgot to tell Meghan not to push the Queen out of the way so she could get into their car first. (That outing where the Queen honored Meghan with an unprecedented outing of just the 2 of them.) The Queen preferred to sit behind the driver but Meghan just jumped in ahead of the Queen. The Queen graciously extended her arm to say, “Go right ahead.” I will never forget this.
As an American, this is SO embarrassing. To go ahead of *any* elderly person is disrespectful, let alone the Queen. smh... I was rooting for Meghan in the very beginning, but not any more. She has become the epitome of the "Ugly American". And it's truly shameful. I wish we could send her BACK to England, but it appears we're going to be stuck with her. ....Canada?
I think a lot of Meghan's "mistakes" come down to a basic difference in culture. She's an American and we dress very differently here than in England. Also the Queen's style "rules" were based on the standards during her younger days, like the 40s-60s, where hats were worn by everyone when outside. No one outside of the royal family routinely wears hats anymore. But yes, there is a universal standard when it comes to "professional" dress, that Meghan didn't always live up to. And your point about dressing for the job is exactly right. She was a working royal - she should've conformed to the dress code while working and representing the royal family.
Two reasons for wearing a slip under the dress. When the wind blows the dress up there is a slip to retain your modesty. The other is when the wearer is back lit your form is not outlined. A third reason is the dress hangs better, less likely to hug your legs.
@@kayecastleman6353 Alot of well made, sorry to say, more expensive dresses have a inner slip attached. I loved it when I didn't have to wear a slip as their was a built in one in what I was wearing.
Not only did MeAgain ignore every dress protocol, she ignored color requests for official group photos. I forget what the occasion was, I think it might have been Prince Louis’ christening, , but everyone was wearing shades of pale blue, and there was MeAgain standing out in poop brown, ruining the photo.
She didn’t ruin the picture. She just made herself look selfish and self-centered, which she is this picture just proves everything that everyone has been saying about her all along all the way back to the wedding end before.
Some of these rules are the same as the ones my parents gave me. No high hemlines, no exposed shoulders, no dark colors ( for makeup along with nail color) wear pantyhose to important events, no “ garish” makeup meaning go very lightly with it. Yes and my mother found crossing your legs obscene for some reason which I’m now beginning to understand.
As you can see most of these rules have good reasons behind them. The "Firm" has centuries of experience and traditions behind these rules designed to make a good impression avoid public embarrassment and remain comfortable during long hours of public duties.
The big thing I cannot stand is clothing that isn’t tailored or not tailored well. Meghan is a prime example, for a woman who spends more in a year than the average annual income for middle to upper class families she looks horrible because nothing fits. Eugenie is also a victim to bad tailoring every once and awhile. Also wearing shoes that are too big.
Oh, I don't think Eugenie is as bad as Megaliar, and I half-suspect that she (Eugenie) is being manipulated by her. However, I do think more highly of Beatrice and Edo than I do of Eugenie and Jack. I see this pattern of idealizing Catherine. Make no mistake: I think she's wonderful. But I don't believe she's perfect or an angel any more than I believe Diana was.
I wanted to recommend a little book I think you would enjoy. It's called 'Wardrobe Wisdom From a Royal Lady's Maid.' The author is Alicia Healey and it's published by the National Trust. It is a little guide book from a former royal maid about royal dress codes, ladies in waiting from the past, how to take care of your clothes and store them the way that the royals do etc. It's such a cute little book.
Since MM had all the resources available to her, I never understood why her hair looked so bad after she married H. I didn't watch the show "Suits" but if you see any clips from it or any publicity interviews with MM her hair looks like it had been curled and styled and it actually looked good 90% of the time. So, again I don't know why she wore the sloppy bun and tendrils around her face after her marriage. If she was hoping to start a trend or have a hairstyle named after herself, then she missed the mark!
the tendrils that she has worn are more for weddings I think and are very passe. Her Oprah interview was worst hair, worst makeup, and definitely the worst dress (pigeon poop dress) and of course she spoke !
I like these rules. I'm planning to rebuild my wardrobe and although I'll never be a queen, these rules make me think about how I present myself to those around me. Thanks!
One of the reasons Markle always looks a sloppy mess is exactly because she doesn't follow the dress code rules. She should do herself a favor and pay attention to those rules. She might look a little better.
I would miss dressing in black. But I think the hardest part would be material that doesn’t wrinkle. Feel like I would obsess over it lol Thank you for your videos, they are always entertaining and informative.
I would also have a problem with not wearing black Thats my favorite colour I could wear all black every day Also the no nail polish would be a struggle. Right now they are red and white for February and Valentines 😊 Change the color every month depending on what's going on. But I hate wedges too and when I worked in office and wore skirts I always wore panty hose. It just looks more professional to me. The hardest part is finding the right shade
Diana in her later years wore red nail polish. Also, from the beginning of her royal life her designers sewed weights into the hem of her dresses so as not to have the embarrassing flare up moments that Catherine experienced. I was surprised that no one at Buckingham Palace suggested that as I believe that the Queen also has weights sewn into her hems.
Hey Brittany! 😊🍀 😉. I am not surprised Megan showed up. That green cocoon she once wore and the dress she wore at the event honoring veterens immediately sprung to mind Aside from that, her clothes never fit! I think she thinks she will look like the model wearing it looks. She just doesn't dress for her body type.
Meghan dresses for a taller body type she pays a fortune for her clothes and they just don’t fit and shoes she just can’t walk in without hanging on to someone! Meghan should be able to walk on her own two feet! Her shoes are allegedly to high to facilitate that! At the thanksgiving service she was the only women allegedly apart from the older more infirm who doesn’t walk independently on her own! It looks ridiculous at her age!
@@SK-su3pt I think it looks eloquent when a woman slips her arm through a man's, as long as the man offers first. I think it looks better than holding hands especially in dress clothes. Grabbing hold of his arm when he doesn't offer it, NO.
One example I came across as far as pricing of outfits was Meghan’s first appearance along side Kate & it shows a big difference in the two women in my opinion. Meghan’s dress- $1,795 Kate’s dress- $169
I think if you are in a job and representing your boss or the company, then it is good practice to follow their set out dress code. There is usually a reason for a dress code.
I was a nurse in the army, so if I turned up to a parade not wearing my best uniform, or indeed onto the ward wearing jeans and a t shirt, would that be ok? Nope it wouldn't, the Queen was my boss as I was in the army, well as the crown was paying Megan, the Queen was her boss when it was a public engagement she was on. Just like any boss has their rules, she should have followed her boss!!
Haha, yes and why isn't everyone still dressing like Queen Victoria ? Oh wait, sometimes dress codes change! And it's often those in the public eye - royalty and celebrities - who can help those changes become popular. Apart from wearing a shoulder bag, every one of these "rules" that Meghan supposedly broke has been broken before by Princess Diana and other royals. But you didn't care about that until a woman from a non-white background started doing it.
It was £4000 apparently, still a lot of money, but Jenny’s dresses are ‘ reasonable’ for a designer dress. And they are just beautiful. And yes, she did look a million dollars. It was breathtaking.
My Mom's Favorite saying about females of Megaliar's caliber "You can dress a Sow in Diamonds & Furs, But at the end of the day, you STILL HAVE A SOW!!" 🐖
The Royal dress code is very similar to military regulation dress code as far as women go. It isn't that hard to follow, but I think that the latitude given in a civilian wardrobe could make it more challenging. For example, military uniforms are always the same, and there are very clear standards for formal events. You don't get to choose. Also, you will never have your skirt fly up while in uniform because the skirt has been tailored to prevent it. You can't trust off-the-rack garments as much!
As someone with the same height and build as Catherine (5'10"/120-130 lbs) I've been accused of wearing dresses and skirts on the shorter side. When I deliberately measured the skirt and showed where my waist was, it was abundantly clear that it would have hit inches below others' knees.
I heard or read once a while ago that it’s also a matter of safety for the Queen to have worn the bright colors she did, so that if the security had to leap in to save/protect her she’s very easily spotted.
Some people just defy everything imposed on them, right or uncomfortable. I am surprised she wasn't put to a long test before entering the institution. Or else she pretended and complied and once she is in the door, she rebelled. Likely the case.
Yep, it's called 🇺🇸. We did it again...got rid of our royal pain bk in the 1700s. M left hers bk on the Thames...out with the old, in with the new... Lol no the institution does not let in or reject anyone in based on merit. You just need to be born or marry in. She just married a man, tested out being a princess, then decided it wasn't for her.
I think Meghan is unfairly compared to Catherine, who got to live with William for a few years before getting married, thereby getting time to be ready for all these rules. Go easy on her.
Not really. The duchess is a biological male. A close study of this person’s anatomy (very narrow hips, manly arms and legs, long ring finger, Adam’s apple, sloping back forehead, etc etc etc) reveals this. There have been numerous videos showing this (on the back channels).
@ littlered77 She’s been thoroughly transvestigated. Not a woman and was never preggers. Look up moonbump. Fake pregnancy. And please don’t reply until you’ve researched this as exhaustively as I have. (I didn’t believe it at first either... so I understand knee jerk denial of this fact.)
So pleased you decided to cover the royals with your astute insight and knowledge. I am actually learning in more ways how to understand the royals through your trained observations so graciously presented. Thank you.🙄🙄💛💛
I had read that the engagement dress was $170,000. I felt like it was so inappropriate. It made me embarrassed, and I am American! For. the longest time I thought that the royal family was being unhelpful to Megan by not getting her a stylist, because she looked terrible all the time. I as soon found out it was her not the palace! I read that Charles spent 2 1/2 million dollars on clothing for Megan. That is the messiest woman I have ever seen. I have never seen her in any outfit, no matter how much it cost, that she didn’t look either inappropriate or a messy!
23:51 That completely sheer top was wildly inappropriate for ANY event, much less a royal engagement; the photographer struggled to position her hair extensions desperately to cover her visible breasts 🤦🏻♀️no class! I can’t imagine how she embarrassed her majesty the Queen.
I have no issue with any of the rules. Part of Kate's visual appeal is her wardrobe. She always looks fantastic, and this video told me why. She follows the rules! Hosiery does make legs look much better than going without. Most legs look a little gnarly without hosiery. But it's just a trend and will change again.
Cathryn is a great advocate of high street brands and has been pictured wearing many relatively inexpensive beautiful outfits. Boden, Jigsaw, Whistles ….. to name but a few.
And she is also a true advocate for children. Whosoever advocate children is on the right side. Unlike MeGain she claims she is a feminist or advocate for woman. Nah, She isn't - Woman with true virtue just can't buy her preaching almost about anything. She is just talk the talk. She never walk the walk
@@shiautungsu9927 Agreed. For a so-called "feminist" who squawks about women's empowerment, she has used men all her life to get her where she thinks she should be. That's not female empowerment. That simply makes her a tramp.
When your watching the videos especially on the balcony one. Megan is always being hushed by Harry, she hadn't changed him yet. Watch later she looks forward butlook at that smirks look on her face. Megan always wanted to be above the queen. But ever picture I see of the queen and princess Catherine, she bends down a little to talk real sweet to her like you would do your mother. You can't hear what's being said but you can see the good attitude catherine has., very sweet to the queen. Little Charlotte when she did her curtly to the queen, first one. Makes you want to cry. That little girl already loves what she does, and yet when it family time that's what it is. That makes people love how those children are being raised.
I think how one wears their hair can make or break your look...After her engagement/marriage, Meghan started sporting these messy hairdos. Never understood why she gave up on the nice and decent hairdos from her acting career days.
You didn’t mention leaving labels on clothes as Megan did once! Bizarrely Megan dressed better when in her cable tv show, than as a member of the royal family. Once married she went to great lengths to tell everyone she didn’t have a personal dresser. Oh don’t worry, we’d already guessed!
The reason was a dresser! These people are worth their weight in gold as far as I am concerned. They dressed her brilliantly on Suits. She also dressed quite well when Jessica influenced her. Money doesn't mean you wear that designer. Dior is not her friend in many cases. She should be fitted to suit her. When she went to the UN recently, it was ALMOST a perfect look except that she showed her nipples! The hair, the dress, the makeup was perfect for her. Business perfect, except for that one little thing.
Suits dressers got her best. She isn't slim like Catherine if we want to compare. She also could look to Zara who has a not so perfect body, but her clothes fit her well. Dior is not Meghan's best friend for sure.
@@nan7503 She was actually thinner than Catherine was, yet Catherine always knew how to dress. It doesn't matter how thin or not you are, it's having a bit of class with what you choose to wear and for what the attire is for,
The messy bun is very trendy, but I hate it. Even older women on Instagram are bragging about their messy buns as if they look chic instead of bag lady. Delusional.
It's popular in 🇺🇸 but "messy buns" are way more neat & kept than "M's." Not to mention, "messy buns" aren't suitable for "Royalty." I also thought it was tacky that Doria didn't take her nose ring out for The Royal Wedding either.
Liked learning those dress codes that I wasn't aware of. I do agree that dresses & skirts should be right below the knee cap and weights a must. You'd think that Catherine's dressmaker and tailor would do that automatically. Catherine wears her clothes very well because they are tailored to fit her. Meg's clothes may cost big bucks but they look like they came from TJMaxx (not judging the store... just an example). I get the sense that in her mind she sees herself as a model in the clothes she wore in London. AND in 4 years those awful tendrils would have grown out so her hair would look better like Catherine! Sloppy clothes and sloppy hair fits her personality. Get some bobby pins girl!
Cindy, I read many years ago about HMTQ's dressmakers/clothiers putting weights in the hems of her skirts and dresses to avoid any wardrobe mishaps, so I'm with you that I don't understand why that's not a custom for any designer when making a dress for a member of the BRF or any royal family. Just seems like common sense.
1. Megsie never eschewed British Design probably because she didn't like the directive to support the home designers or simply didn't care. And 2. Being shorter...and short waisted never took advice from designers to wear the proper cut and fabric hence 85% of her appearances looked like she just pulled it out of the dryer. One dark rumor is that she thought her legs were fabulous and figure perfect to style herself in stead of a professional and took insult to many a designer suggestions to wear something more flattering hence the oversized, overripe tomato dress and stolen homeless persons' jacket in NY last year. Catherine uses a pro styler to organize her wardrobe and Megsie doesn't know that she doesn't know. Spending upwards of 1 Million on forgetable clothes since moving back to California must make Harry secretly gasp since all he has are one grey and one navy jacket and a pair of grey pants to his name.
I read somewhere that Megan and her friend with last name of Mulroney had a scheme for clothes. Supposedly, her friend would get designer clothes for free, send them to Megan, she would bill the Royal Family for them and the two women split the money. I think that could explain why Megan's clothes were so awful and poorly fitting. Does anybody know the truth on this?
Always felt that MM believed if she wore 'haute couture' it would elevate her, but she didn't realize that superbly well fitted clothes elevate, whether they are from Dior or Zara. Queen Letitia of Spain frequently wears Zara and Massimo Dutti and always looks spectacular
I will confess that I cannot afford to buy any designer labels but I need to be well-dressed for work. I am tall, and most clothes sold in stores don't fit me anyway. I discovered a solution in the JC Penney catalogue! First off, it is full of tall sizes for every need from casual to very dressy. They sell Evan Picone and Liz Claiborne classic styles that I'll be able to wear 50 years from now (if I live that long). Even their own proprietary line, Worthington, is well-made and classically styled. All of their labels with which I am familiar are good styles, good fabric, excellent construction, and well worth the money.
My biggest pitfall on the dress code rules is hats. It mostly has to do with face shape and lack of knowledge on what kind of hats look nice. So in the instance of attending a prestigious event that required women to wear hats, then I would specifically ask someone with greater experience in that area so to avoid a fashion faux pas. It would probably include a conversation on hairstyle as well. Just to be sure to look presentable, professional and put together.
Thank you for an insightful & well-researched video. I believe that the most important rule of royal British dressing is to wear clothes designed and made in Britain. The royals are 'soft' ambassadors and represent the best that their country can produce. If the Duchess of Sussex could find only French couturiers for her clothes, she was suggesting that British design is inferior -- which is manifestly *not* the case.
Meghan has worn and championed many British designers: Burberry, Grace Wales Bonner, Stella McCartney, Amanda Wakely, Victoria Beckham. But don't let that get in the way of a good story.
Someone criticised this video by stating Megan did wear British designers, this is true and she wore Canadian ones as well. However the video commentator actually acknowledges this, saying she has worn some British designers. I think her point it that for 'big day' events she almost inevitably did not wear British designers outfits and it's on those occasions that the role of being a soft diplomat is most key. Good points made here in many of these comments about her fashion mistakes and Kate's occasional errors. Although with regard to Megan, I think if anything she did a disservice to many of the French designers who outfits she wore. They often looked creased, ill fitting (even her unflattering wedding dress which was such a dissapointment, I only watch royal weddings for the dresses) or totally lacked the required elegance and suitability for the occasion. So I suppose that she unintentionally did the British fashion industry a back-handed favour. There's no denying that she can be stylish and that she's very attractive, yet she never outshone Catherine and rarely outshone the other royal ladies when not wearing British. That's not a good advert for Dior or Givenchy. Although I've always preferred British fashion anyway, I think British designers have more imagination, more artistry and know how to make fashion more fun. It's amazing that the Duchess of Sussex spent so much money on outfits that often looked meh and passé.
Catherine also needs to dress appropriately. We hsve seen her backside often enough. Even at Eugenie wedding the wind blew her skirt up. More recently on her colonial tour. She again had to hold her skirt and kept looking at others with a stupid grin on her face.
I fond this odd. She's from Hollywood, so should have better knowledge. But she keeps wearing things that do not fit her body type. Now she does have an unusual body type that is difficult to find clothes for. I have the same issue. But she trying to wear things that look fabulous on others. But with her body type it just is very unflattering.
The gold dress was borrowed from the designer for the Bond premier it was reported. (A common practice, not unusual). When the palace saw how popular it was, they purchased it for exhibition. Kate won't wear it again as now it belongs to a collection and won't have the same impact anyway. I think it's price was around £35000. The trinity necklace is a private piece, said to be a gift. Not taxpayer purchased. M M's wardrobe is also reported as having totalled more than the entire European royal families spending for her duration. Keep up the good work! I like your channel. Edit; 1 zero too many. Should say 3500 for dress not 35000.
That gold dress was spectacular and at such a small price. Just proves its who's wearing it and not how much it cost that makes it so glamorous. Also doesn't Megsy realise that every time she copies Catherine she is actually complimenting her? Don't think she's thought it through!
Think you may need to move your decimal point. I've seen various prices quoted for the dress but they are all between £3,500 and £4,000. I've read an article which states that Catherine's most expensive dress was just over £7000. Compare that to the outrageous sums Meghan spends on her clothes and it makes Catherine look quite frugal!
I agree with you. When the Cambridge’s go on tour they sometimes buy brands of the commonwealth countries to support the designers like when she came to Australia 🇦🇺. I think it’s great. Henry’s wife doesn’t look right. My opinion is she receives clothes for free and then puts them on to promote them. It doesn’t look since. Yet she does. That’s my opinion. The royal family receive gifts but are not allowed to receive them so they go to the appropriate charities. Where as Henry’s wife realised this and knew she could keep them if not in the royal family.
Meghan is self centered and very immature. Agree she so often looks sloppy. Catherine knows how to wear clothing well and absolutely always looks put together, she dresses with forethought. Love when her family wears coordinating colors.
I think that Meghan SHOULD get her shoes custom made, considering the problems she has getting shoes that fit. I always thought she should, so I'm glad to hear it. On the other hand, those custom-made dresses are usually a huge waste of money. The designs aren't special and she usually doesn't let the fitters do their jobs, so she might as well buy bargain basement clothes for all the good she gets out of haute couture.
The Monaco $100,000 tent dress was probably the most hideous dress I've ever seen anyone wear. I wondered if she'd actually never tried the dress on. She'd have looked better in one of the curtains.
Princess Catherine is the epitome of elegance and chic in her choice of clothes. From where she joined the Royal Family she has absolutely blossomed and within the Queens protocols: she was willing to learn.. I love seeing her choice of gowns, she shines like a star!!
Brilliant!
I love that story!
Excellent
Sounds like a Hallmark movie
Are you descended from brothers Grimm? That was very funny 😁
There is another reason for bright colours, easier for security to spot in a crowd.
What I love about Catherine is that she frequently re-wears her outfits. Not the fancy ones, like you mentioned about the "Bond" gown, but her dresses and coats.
She did it to upset the Protocol. She won’t be told what to do.

When I worked at my country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we had a REALLY strict dress code (no matter seniority) so I understand this completely.

tranisioned [sic]
I can guess the twelth!

Meghan, while she was a royal, was always showing up for daytime events in cocktail attire. Cringe-worthy.
Meghan hasn’t got a clue on how to dress for the occasion and doesn’t listen to any advice! So she is stuck with looking inappropriate!
Lisa, you're right about that! When you look at any of the photos she was always inappropriately dressed for daytime events.
I’m sure the House of Dior cringes every time Meghan wears one of their designs.
I bet they do!! I bet any Designer does!!
]
Brits still blabbing on with their disgusting hate speech. Meghan is not the Queen in waiting. Catherine is. Veeeery big difference.
Excellent approach! The golden rule: If you represent the Royal family you are a diplomat; so do not behave like if you’re free from the basic rules.
She wants to be what they call a “commoner “and pretty much now she is …in LA

People seem to forget that these rules apply to royal events not on private time. These events are the workplace for the royals. It's no different than me wearing a uniform and tied back hair as a nurse or a MacDonald's worker wearing their uniform. Megan didn't seem to understand that.

Diane made hats fashionable for young woman back in the 1980’s. I was so thrilled back then to start wearing hats.

Too bad she is so sick. I hope she gets better... I would want cancer on anyone.
I love how you also showed Catherine's fails as well, that was very fair and unbiased.
Loved this video
Yep. Obviously no one is perfect but at least she tried and has mostly succeeded.
Markle’s clothes are extremely expensive, but look so cheap because she does not invest in a good tailor!
That should have been "pant" not "paint" and "she" should have been "she's" because I type quicker than I think!
Or well fitting foundation garments.
On the outing with the Queen, MM’s hair was a monumental mess!🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I wish we could send her BACK to England, but it appears we're going to be stuck with her.
....Canada?
And she has the audacity to mock the queen
We are dealing with a normal person. She has quite a few loose screws in her brain
And not wear a hat.
The same with Trump: Have you seen thát situation? Bizar!
Princess Anne in her wild younger days wore the first mini-skirt ever worn by a royal back in the 70s.
Nice tid bit. Thanks! 😀
That’s fantastic! I like Princess Anne even more. She was young, it was the 70s, it makes sense.
Two reasons for wearing a slip under the dress. When the wind blows the dress up there is a slip to retain your modesty. The other is when the wearer is back lit your form is not outlined. A third reason is the dress hangs better, less likely to hug your legs.
I grew up in the era of dresses WITH under slips and stockings or pantyhose.
What happened to slips??? You can hardly find one any more, and dresses definitely do hang better with one.
@@billiescott9799 Me too

Not only did MeAgain ignore every dress protocol, she ignored color requests for official group photos. First I’ve heard of her being referred to as MeAgain, but it is so fitting. Brilliant!
@@nadiazeeb1868 And another name for MeAgain! You ladies are quite inventive and spot-on. ❤
But Kate did the same at Archie's christening, wearing pink when everyone else was wearing pale white.
Nutmeg always looks like a slob.
I do not respect Eugenie… just like MM. BOTH have raging jealousy of beautiful Catherine. 🇬🇧
Mm wears shoes 2 sizes too big for some reason 🤷♀️
Oh, I don't think Eugenie is as bad as Megaliar, and I half-suspect that she (Eugenie) is being manipulated by her. However, I do think more highly of Beatrice and Edo than I do of Eugenie and Jack.
I see this pattern of idealizing Catherine. Make no mistake: I think she's wonderful. But I don't believe she's perfect or an angel any more than I believe Diana was.
@@notmytruth.thetruth.2711 I agree with you about Eugenie. By her behavior and actions towards W and C she does not seem to be a nice person.

She always does
Her wrong desire got into her.
I think she wore the hair around her face because she thought it made her look, young, shy, and naive.
the tendrils that she has worn are more for weddings I think and are very passe. Her Oprah interview was worst hair, worst makeup, and definitely the worst dress (pigeon poop dress) and of course she spoke !
Oh, she's advertising her "bedhead"
The dressing etiquette is appropriate for the job 👸👑
I like these rules. I'm planning to rebuild my wardrobe and although I'll never be a queen, these rules make me think about how I present myself to those around me. Thanks!
Catherine also wears things several times. She does also wears high street for the more casual royal outings.
Ah, great point! Thanks for watching!!
One of the reasons Markle always looks a sloppy mess is exactly because she doesn't follow the dress code rules. She should do herself a favor and pay attention to those rules. She might look a little better.
Megan looks like a sloppy mess because she is a sloppy mess
she believes herself far too important for such matters, she is a legend in her own mind
The messy bun look. It's the worst ever! Too bad she sticks with it also. What a complete mess! It matches her personality though.

I would miss dressing in black. But I think the hardest part would be material that doesn’t wrinkle. Feel like I would obsess over it lol
Thank you for your videos, they are always entertaining and informative.
only wear black for funerals
I would also have a problem with not wearing black
Thats my favorite colour
I could wear all black every day
Also the no nail polish would be a struggle. Right now they are red and white for February and Valentines 😊
Change the color every month depending on what's going on.
Kitty Kelly's book The Royals wrote of the weights & Diana knew & deliberately never shared that info with Fergie..good gossipy book!
Maybe Catherine does not want the weights😊
@@ceceortiz9280 that's a definite possibility.

Hey Brittany! 😊🍀 😉. I am not surprised Megan showed up. That green cocoon she once wore and the dress she wore at the event honoring veterens immediately sprung to mind
Aside from that, her clothes never fit!
I think she thinks she will look like the model wearing it looks. She just doesn't dress for her body type.
Meghan dresses for a taller body type she pays a fortune for her clothes and they just don’t fit and shoes she just can’t walk in without hanging on to someone! Meghan’s dress- $1,795
Kate’s dress- $169
l always felt something odd about MM's type of dressing but you decribed and explained it in so much detail that I now trust my instinct even more!
There’s no way the gold Jenny Pachman dress cost $8,000. I would guess minimum $30,000. On Catherine, the dress looked like a million dollars.
It was £4000 apparently, still a lot of money, but Jenny’s dresses are ‘ reasonable’ for a designer dress. And they are just beautiful. And yes, she did look a million dollars. It was breathtaking.
It cost 💲6,000 at NeimanMarcus
You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.this totally applies to markle

Much as it galls me to do so, we have to admit this girl (Markle) is v.attractive. Very contrived but super attractive.......
My Mom's Favorite saying about females of Megaliar's caliber "You can dress a Sow in Diamonds & Furs, But at the end of the day, you STILL HAVE A SOW!!" 🐖
I like that but if you'll pardon the expression my favourite is "you can't polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter and make it shiney."
I had not thought of that (maybe since I'm the opposite). Thanks!

When your watching the videos especially on the balcony one. Megan is always being hushed by Harry, she hadn't changed him yet. Watch later she looks forward butlook at that smirks look on her face.

Tarantula tendrils. Ugly.

Catherine dresses to not be the center of attention and yet- and that’s why she becomes the center of attention ❤
Catherine, the Princess of Wales often selects couture pieces from Erdem, a very special UK designer.
He gets the upper drawer😌
I thought her legs looked scrawny
It seems like she just looks at the price - the more expensive the better. Not considering - does this suit my body type?
My biggest pitfall on the dress code rules is hats. It mostly has to do with face shape and lack of knowledge on what kind of hats look nice. So in the instance of attending a prestigious event that required women to wear hats, then I would specifically ask someone with greater experience in that area so to avoid a fashion faux pas. It would probably include a conversation on hairstyle as well. Just to be sure to look presentable, professional and put together.
Honestly, not everyone can pull off fashionable hats. It depends on the shape and size of the head and facial structure.
The word "Royal" has been cheapened tremendously, that I don't care to know about them anymore - Thanks for this, Harkles.
absolutely correct👍 thank you!
Yes, but ‘the big expensive pieces’?
MM is a perfect example of " just because you can doesn't mean you should" as very little of what MM wears actually looks good on her.
Catherine also needs to dress appropriately. We hsve seen her backside often enough. Even at Eugenie wedding the wind blew her skirt up. More recently on her colonial tour. She again had to hold her skirt and kept looking at others with a stupid grin on her face.
Kate needs to have weights sewn into her hem’s so they don’t blow up, that’s what Diana did
Your biased opinion
I fond this odd. She's from Hollywood, so should have better knowledge. But she keeps wearing things that do not fit her body type. Now she does have an unusual body type that is difficult to find clothes for. I have the same issue. But she trying to wear things that look fabulous on others. But with her body type it just is very unflattering.
Look at the video. Ido not need to see any part of her skinny body.
Yet it look like borrowed items which is either too tight or too loose
That gold dress was spectacular and at such a small price. Just proves its who's wearing it and not how much it cost that makes it so glamorous. Also doesn't Megsy realise that every time she copies Catherine she is actually complimenting her? Don't think she's thought it through!
Think you may need to move your decimal point. I've seen various prices quoted for the dress but they are all between £3,500 and £4,000. I've read an article which states that Catherine's most expensive dress was just over £7000. Compare that to the outrageous sums Meghan spends on her clothes and it makes Catherine look quite frugal!
@@cyflym11 thanks. Never noticed the extra digit. I don't receive reply notifications anymore - not sure what I did - so sorry for late response.
Thank you for explaining this, love your videos!
Kate is GOLD! So much like her mother in-law
She has horrible feet!
Bunions, big toes & no waistline.
Yes 👍🏽
My pillow has bedroom slippers that would work.
