Even though I didnt take his exact train of thought, I agree with Dillons overall take on this one. Looking to Beam to deliever some jammy fruits to develope with that time in the barrel (ala Knob 18 batch 1, Booker's Kentucky Tea) is pretty rare to be fair. But even maybe the high rye can do some magic..ooo or how bout a baking spice bomb.....nah. It just doesnt happen. The nose is good, the opening of the palate is nice, though faint, and then the finish erases the entire experience for me. Idk, I call it a bust 💨
I dont know man, tough call. Especially as this OGD16 srp is higher than either option you mentioned. And different profiles, echoing Dillón with it lacking a fruit component. I find the OGD to be a muted experience right up to the finish where it hits some kind of wall and no flavor from the sip remains.
I enjoy OGD 114. It's kind of a one note whiskey, but it does that one note very well at a very good price. This 16yo juice sounds like it's not really worth the $$$ squeeze.
I love OGD 16!! Dutch nailed it when you said that it’s not tannic and over-oaked. Unlike the Knob Cr. 15.. Djillon was so all over the place with the taste description… lol! Great review fellas!
I just struggle so much with the price of this one. I'm absolutely interested - big OGD fan, especially BiB and 114 - but I just can't imagine a world where this is worth six OGD 114s.
It's not worth the splurge. I grabbed one Black Friday at $160 out the door. And this bottle is my disappointment of the year. There were a majority of tepid reviews on it and a few folks that stood by it so I held out hope that the deal would make it worth the buy. Buuut not so much 😐
You joke, but there was a Mellow Corn 20 year release in 2023. It was the Heaven Hill Heritage collection 20 year Corn whiskey. It did not receive good reviews. OGD 16 should cost $120 tops. I passed. I enjoy your content for entertainment, but the rating is a bit all over the place with contradictory valuations from Dillon. Just constructive suggestions. Thanks
@@javieracosta3439 I understand the why. If the aroma is an 8 for example. Does that carry the same weight in its category as a 16 in flavor? In other words, are the aroma and flavor achieving an equal level when scored 8 and 16. Or are the achieving an equal level when scored 8 and 18?
I love how they reference OGD 114, then Dillon takes points away for the lack of fruit and jam. OGD is nit known for its melange of fruit notes in any form. You're going to struggle to find them in this product at any level. It's one of the main reasons I steer clear of almost all Beam products, they lack discernable fruit components to balance the spice, nut, oak and caramel mix that is basically the Beam profile across all brands.
For $220, I could buy JDSBBP Bourbon and a rye, and OF1920 and Green River Full Proof, four great bottles and have money left over. Sorry, not worth it.
I saw this on the shelf for $220 and passed to pick up a bottle of Knob Creek 18 for $180.
1 video a week is not enough
Not if you’re sending them money.
Agree
I just picked up OGD 114 at Costco for $17.99. Tell me why I shouldn't buy 10 of those over one of these.
Had this bottle at a friends house. Was a little disappointed relative to price.
FINALLY! A great review of OGD 16! I feel like most folks that reviewed knocked it because of the price. Thanks fellas
Not worth $220
Deserves the silver. Should have been a little higher proof , like 114. Especially at that price, $200 crazy
@3:09 ish .... You wanna feel Spesher??? ... YOLO!!!
Jules sure has an amalgamation of facial expressions listening Dillion during these ultimate competitions.

Ultimately all of its finer points do not equal a tasty bourbon
Mellow Corn is a Heaven Hill Product (not Beam) and the Hraven Hill Heritage Collection 20yr is technically 20 year old Mellow Corn 🌽 😅
It’s better than Calumet 16 and KC18. Just wish these prices weren’t so crazy on these “premium” products.

Try eight. Costco near me has 114 for $17.99.
@@pickleeater3102 That's unreal. Good stuff. Further proves the point, though - OGD 114 is such outstanding juice for the price

Hard pass for the price. I saw it for $199, looked at the bottle and put it back on the shelf. I do like OGD 114 but it's a BARGAIN.
Dillon is right - forget the age, this is low in bourbon flavors and high in price!
Are we working on a new set, or is the blue sheet it?
This is a temporary set - but it will be at least a year before we can build out our "permanent" set.

Is an 18 in flavor a 9 on the ten scale that is doubled or is it an 8 on the scale plus a free 10?
They rank flavor higher so that it has more impact on the final score.

@@mikeherr7679 possibly it is a straight up doubling for that category. Im not sure they've outright defined it as such though.
I loved the 2 glasses I had, but it is expensive bourbon
Another new Dillon persona?!
Had a bottle of Old Grandad, awful stuff. Tried to give it away and noone could drink it. Poured down the drain.
😂😂😂

That's a completely honest evaluation of Jim Beam products. So true.

This background sucks, your bottles and collectibles added to the intrigue of the show ☹️
Im done. Not gonna pay for over priced buron anymore. Its played out and im tired of getting ripped off. Moving on.
75👍
Ohayo gozaimasu Dutch, Jules and Yolo Dillon? Is that Yolo county reference? 😊
Sorry guys, not digging the new set look😢
