@@charimilligan5326 Hello Chari 😄. It was a learning journey the LORD lead us on much like this linen one of Nathan and Chelsea's. HE puts a hook in your jaw and keeps reeling you in to the destination point. I first heard about a fiber arts instructor in a Home Economics class who demonstrated the influence of wool over the human body by having each student hold up a hank of acrylic yarn and try to push their arm down. Then hold up a hank of 100% wool and try to push their arm down. Each participant was convinced for life that wool on their bodies made them stronger. In winter we lose 20% of our body heat through our uncovered heads so I started crocheting and knitting my husband 100% wool hats and he never got sick even when our children brought home the usual colds. Studying up on how to tell the content of yarn that doesn't have a band with information on it, we discovered "the burn test." Wool is naturally flame retardant. This reminded me of many movies I'd seen when I was young about people, even firemen soaking wool blankets and going into a blaze to save someone from a burning house or horses from a burning stable. How did we get away from such a miracle provision? We were told wool was itchy and sold patentable artificial and yes some even toxic synthetic materials instead. Wool protected our children and babies. The indians used wool to wrap their babies in before pampers and the wool wicks away moisture and keeps the skin dryer. That's why the soldiers wore woollen socks. I could go on like how we got rid of all the carpet in our house after my husband had a heart attack because of all the static electricity it caused being made from unnatural fibers. (You can use woollen balls in your dryer instead of toxic poisonous dryer sheets to take much better care of your laundry needs.) Wool coats can be soaking wet and still help you retain 80% of your body heat. Well, that's a start at least. God bless you on your quest to know the truths of HIS creation. Oh yeah, and if you come across some "itchy" wool, it can be tamed by using regular hair conditioner.
Nathan and Chelsea another great show me and my Bride went linen hunting yesterday, and we bagged two heavy linen table cloths. It was quite the adventure. Thanks for all the information. God Bless you both and your little ones.
An extra linen verse for you. I was just reading in Tyndale'1526 New Testament in Acts 11 : "I saw a vision/ A certen vessel descende as it had bene a large lynnyn clothe//let doune from hevyn by the fower corners/ "
I love that i found this. Ive recently been thrifting for 100% linens & ive been hunting you tube for tips. They are are so very few! It takes so much time to thruft but worth it! Its like a treasure hunt!! I couldn't afford to just go out & buy new to change my wardrobe so i weeded out plastics but kept 100% cottons. I wore the 100& cottons for a week & went to fit on one of my plastic leggings & could already feel the difference. I never noticed the clammy feeling before i switched! People need to know this stuff. They, like me had no clue!
Nisie thanks for the input- its a great idea and we have been getting a lot of feedback from people saying the same thing you are saying. We are going to be starting a becoming a linenite buy trade and sell group on facebook soon so people can exchange clothes or sell them for reasonable prices + shipping . are you friends with us on facebook Nisie? You've inspired me! People donate discarded tshirts to me to create throw rugs with. I found 4 black 100% cotton shirts i changed into leggings! I know its not linen but it's a start for me! I turned inside out a pair of plastic leggings & created a pattern!
Today i went to goodwill praying all the way. Yah blessed me not only to find clothes that will fit me but also perfect napkins That I want to make I to a prayer shawl. But he was faithful and answered prayer with a resounding yes. I loved it. It was thrilling.

That mesh stuff is fusible interfacing. It’s ironed on. Used mostly to stiffen up fabrics like jackets, collars, cuffs, and waistbands. Sometimes used to hem. Not getting it off it’s ironed on.
This video has helped me so much with my linen hunt! But I don't dare to do the fire test in the thriftstores 🤗 I almost peed myself watch Nathan starting fire all the time. 😅
I searched through my entire closet and the only thing that is linen, is this this giant scarf that I use a a Prayer Shawl. I set the corner on fire and I'm glad I did it outside, because it went up in flames. I lost a huge edge of it, so it clearly passed the test and now it'll be a constant reminder! 😊 next time I'll just spit!!!

Also, if i repurpose, do i need to find 100% linen thread or can i use cotton? And fyi...dont throw away the scraps! I use them for hankies & table napkins!
I was wondering if you were gonna do a video on this! IF the playing field (clothing rack) was even, I'd challenge you to a LINEN DUEL (competition on finding it the fastest) !! 😉
Organic Cotton is absolutely wonderful as well. We have noticed some major differences between the genetically engineered cotton, which is utilized as the cotton seed in 90% of textiles has changed the properties of it. You should experiment for yourself and see if you can notice a difference as well. It is one of the most heavily sprayed crops in conventional agriculture. It’s a very heavy feeder on the soil, so there is a massive input of pesticides fertilizers in insecticides in order to successfully grow the crop whereas one of the benefits of growing flax is that even in a conventional model, there is very little need for these amendments to the soil
The tags will say say what the garment is made of - we are hunting 100% linen or blends with 50% linen 50% plant fiber of some other kind but if no tags are found or have been cut off then the linen tests come in handy
Not a dumb question by any means, cotton has some of its own benefits like durability, ability to withstand abrasions, or thorns and thistles. It also can be a natural fiber however it is almost never a natural fiber when used in clothing’s and fabrics today. Nearly every piece of cotton grown and used in textiles made in fabrics today comes from genetically modified hybridized plants which have mixed genetics from other animals plants and even in some cases humans added into them. They are completely soaked in extremely toxic chemicals fertilizers herbicides and pesticides. The fabric themselves are impregnated with these poisons if you are able to acquire 100% cotton from an organic source it can still maintain many of the natural benefits cotton has.
Great question Chelsea uses Organic Cotton Guetterman Thread as Linen thread breaks in the sowing machines. If you are doing hand sewing linen thread is absolutely an option but it just does not work in machines.
Would our Messiah go into stores to burn and spit on closes and not buy them? And then tell them just not to get caught? That's not Torah like in more ways than just one. Dishonesty and deception. Destruction of property. Love some of the content you guys put out but you guys should take the correction out of love. You could very easily be leading others astray influencing them to trangress the Torah. We need to always ask ourselves if Yahusha would do that. Shalom.
Cotton unless it’s specifically Organic is the most heavily pesticide/herbicide/fungicide sprayed textile on the market. It’s genetically engineered and grown in toxins harvested and dried and dyed with more toxins. It is by no means the ideal fabric.
I’m wondering the same thing , I try to avoid polyester and other plastic fabrics but I’ve been buying 100% cotton ….. hopefully someone responds to this comment and can help me understand why linen over cotton.
