Her role as Sally was a role model for me. She was sharp as a tack, and equal to the men in the room. I had never seen a woman character like her before I didn't become a writer, but the sense that I'm as good as anybody in the room, and can do any job I set my mind to came in large part from Sally on The Dick Van Dyke Show. Thanks, Rose Marie. I don't think you understand what a gift you gave us women.
I read that the producers of the Van Dyke show wanted to end the series while it was still "hot." I also agree with the others that Rose Marie was a major factor in the success of the show. I still love her to this day!
I wonder if Rose Marie had much feedback from men about how her character in that role carried weight with young men (children) when they looked for a life partner? Humor is not the life blood for me, I think the act of making a living that way would be tiring, not in the performance sense but in the business sense, however, when I was watching "Sally' sling out those one liners with Morey Amsterdam... it was really eye popping! My thought: "I want one of THOSE women, smart and funny!" Even as a child I had the sense that a lot of her lines may have been written for her, BUT that she was very much like that in her own life, off camera, off stage.

Rose Marie, thank you for so many wonderful memories
Always loved Rose Marie, what a doll.
It's hard to believe that the DVD show ended in 1966 -- that's already 45 years ago !!
Where did the time go?
She looks sensational for her age: sharp as a tack, too
