Hey anyone reading this- any course at Sketchbook Skool is great, and if you get a chance to take one of Seth's Workshops, do it. Both courses were liberating, empowering, and took my art to the next level with the tools, techniques and approaches. I think both these guys can teach anyone to make good art that is expressive, satisfying and well-executed. And I am not sponsored either, just a happy alumnus.

Love that seths work is so unstructured but his workspace is so structured.

Thank you! Terrific interview. So inspiring and a good reminder about the freedom that we can feel in working this way.

I can really identify with the frustration of when sketching and something doesn’t turn out the way you want.

I never considered that. Everything is an abstraction because the feelings that even the smallest details like colors can provoke different things from everyone-- Nobody can ever truly get your idea because everyone has different associations with EVERYTHING! It used to really frustrate me that people wouldn't be able to understand precisely what I'm trying to say, but I'm realizing there's a freedom in that. I've always struggled with making abstract stuff, but realizing its more about the freedom and process itself rather than structure of successfully depicting a thesis. I'm in love with the idea now! I have to start marrying the two in my art. sorry.. this is the coffee speaking.

Seth's books look like they would be so enjoyable to thumb through because of the lack of uniformity and fun textures. Like a literal blind person could have artisitic experience with them that they couldn't with my sketchbooks. Very cool!! I'm so intrigued about trying to incorportate physical textures in my work in the future. Thanks for inspiring!

Great interview. I love Seth's take on mixed media. I love mm from making journals or altering books to ATC's and all the colors, mediums, bits and pieces. It speaks to my messy ego.

I thought this was quite good, to see some of what is taught in art.

This is an interesting conversation. Got me thinking but I’m still needing some form of enlightenment 😅 mixed media to me is a lot about creative thinking, on the spot, impromptu. All of which isn’t me. I’m used to trying to be realistic but not really, looking ahead as I drive my pen. I feel like I lack the creativity to know what to do next if I’m met with the unknown or the unplanned. Mixed media is ambiguous to me. I guess it gives me more anxiety not knowing how it will end up 😁
