Your lack of artistic ability ( I believe) is superseded by a God given gift to teach and successfully articulate the sometimes very difficult and hard to understand workings of a wonderful and awesome hobby like CNC,ing, especially to an old and feeble mind like mine. Please keep up the good work.

Thank you so much Mark. I have file drawers filled with scroll saw patterns. This opens up a whole new area for me to explore. Thank you again for taking the time to help guys like me who also do not have an artistic bone in their body.

Thank you for checking out the video! I'm in the same boat as you. I think I broke my artistic bone when I was riding my bike as a kid, and it never healed...

Thanks for the tip. Never thought of this.

Maybe you are not really "artistic", but you DID supersede the video by stating that MOST of what folks have seen previously was stuff you designed...and I have seen some of that! Pretty good, I would say!!! Anyway, I am taking this video to heart and looking at the scroll saw plans on the web...never thought of them as a great idea for CNC, but then, I am new to this...have a Longmill and only just started carving over the 4th weekend here in 2022...

Job well done, Mark. I like the use of the distortion tool.

Hi Mark! I'm binge watching your videos as I work in the shop. You made an interesting comment on changing the XY Datum to the bottom left before you carve. Why don't you use the center of mass XY Datum for carving?

Nice tutorials. Thank you for your sharing.

That was amazing! Thanks for, once again, opening up a whole new realm of possibilities. And I would never have thought of your method of replacing the serial number as you did.

Very good, practical and useful information as always. Been watching you for several months. It really helped me get going with Vectric after being a Mastercam user for a long time. Thanks for all you put out there.

Mark, thank you for this one. Every part is great. For some it may just be a refresher. But useful. And most of all thanks for spot lighting the X, Y datum change. You miss that sometimes.

Thank you Alan. I miss highlighting my X Y Datum change most of the time. That's why I did it in this video. I'll be doign it a lot more often from now on.

    Mark.
Great, great stuff there. Learned more than a few things from it!
    Have a question….
When you have multiple tooling in one carve like above… does the program automatically pause for a tool change? If so how/when?
Many thanks for your time and efforts.
    Best.

I may have a use for that real soon. I only got to fix bits off the missile site (Nike Hercules) so I didn't have a special serial number. I was about 15km out of Baumholder in 77-79.

Ah, I remember Baumholder well. I went to PLDC there. We were stationed up at Mainz-Finthen Army Airfield from 1988-1992.

I would like to see the finish product.
Don't need to see the carve running, just a picture or a short video of how it turned out
    As always love your work

Thank you, Stephen. I will be cutting this and a couple of other projects to hang in the shop/shed when I get moved in. I will show some footage of them, and they'll probably be in the background of a lot of my videos after that.

it would have been nice t to see how it came out carved, just a suggestion

As I said during the Live Q&A for this video (link in the description) I do plan on carving it when I get moved into the new shop. I have a few things to add to the design before I do, however. This video was made just to introduce the idea of adapting scroll saw patterns for your v-carving projects. I hope you got something out of it.

It wasn't clear why you Curve fit tool /smoothed it.
I assume to make it a shorter cut, but that's a guess

    • @MarkLindsayCNC
      @MarkLindsayCNC  3 роки тому +1

Using the Curve Fit tool does smooth the vectors, but the primary reason is to reduce the number of points (nodes) in the design. That reduces toolpath calculation time as well as machining time. I explained the reasons behind it in this video on Eliminating Unnecessary Points From Vectors: ua-cam.com/video/LnF1JASSRKM/v-deo.html
