That moment in time when you realize that you're in love with the series, and with these characters, is moment you have officially become a Browncoat. Welcome to the community.
This is the turning point for Jayne. He's been the comic relief, the big, dumb, loud mouthed thug, the muscle. Now he's had an insight, he asks, "Why?", he's beginning to look inside himself, become a real person. It's not gonna be a smooth ride, but he's making the first steps...
"We pay them next to nothing. That way, we can pass the savings directly on to you, the customer!" Lol, one of my favorite Firefly quotes he's so proud
This episode provided Jayne with some much needed character development, and created a bit of sympathy for Jayne. It showed he was capable of regret and introspection.
Beautiful episode. The parallels between River / Book and Jayne / the Mudders. Nonsensical belief vs. living with faith. Jayne heading back to the ship with metaphorical and literal blood on his hands. And the way the episode ends, with the sad, introspective version of The Hero of Canton. God, what a show. Also I hope you don't mind me saying, your reactions are adorable.
Hello Inna!😊 What happened was Fox put the show on in a bad time slot, and then they aired the episodes in the wrong order. I am glad you have fallen in love with the show and its characters, Inna!😉 You are doing a great job reacting to the series!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I know you never thought Jayne would be a hero, and actually show some character growth.
Browncoat status confirmed! Here we see some of Inara's other training as a Companion. She's basically a counselor for those who need counseling, among other things.
Inna this series gets it's hooks in you & by the time you watch the final eps, you'll be sad it ended so abruptly. I was part of the failed drive to get it rebooted, but we did get a movie to wrap up the story (Serenity)
It's always great fun to watch Firefly with you Inna, I've watched the series and movie many, many times and it is really fun to watch it with someone who hasn't seen it before. All episodes are great but my favorite is "Out Of Gas".
Congrats! You fell in love with this show a lot earlier than I did. I liked the characters well enough, and I liked Joss Whedon's style of humour, but he obviously expected the show to run longer than it did, so the main stories and character arcs just never seemed to develop very much. Every episode was good, but to me, the show as a whole remained frustrating and... well, episodic. It was only after I watched the feature film, Serenity, that I really fell in love with the show. Going back and re-watching the TV episodes after that made everything so much more special.
“Not what I expected . . .” One of the attractions of this show. So much of storytelling in TV is formulaic and predictable. Constantly being surprised by the twists and turns keeps you on your toes and interested. Can be a challenge to your emotions though. Because unexpected can also mean sadness, like the boy giving his life for Jayne. Now that you are thoroughly invested and in love with this crew, comes the brilliant and acclaimed Episode 8.
Firefly was only a proven hit with big DVD sales. I know it's hard to accept but in the US, it was very difficult on network TV to find an audience for a sci-fi show and a western and one that has character storylines. The last is an innovation that didn't always hit. All the network slots were filled with cartoons, news, crime, reality TV and sports. Very little audience for this kind of show. Back then. Today with streaming and geek/nerd culture being mainstream, the show would have been a hit.
Symbols and Song, and another very enjoyable reaction. I love this episode, it's one of my top 5 of the series: "The Hero of Canton, the Man They Call Jayne!"
Seeing you become a Browncoat has been so cool. You will love the rest of the series and the movie. Inna is a beautiful woman, but she was so super cute when she was laughing at the hero of Canton song.
when this show first aired on tv, it was not a big hit...but not because the show wasn't fantastic.. because it is fantastic. It didn't do well on tv because the network aired all the episodes out of order because they thought they knew better than the creators of the show and thought putting more "action" oriented episodes first would attract more people... but all it did was confuse people and leave them not really knowing what was going on.. it was all a jumbled mess!
Think of Jayne as an acquired taste that makes you feel sick afterward. It would have been amusing had they named this episode - Big Trouble in Little Janynestown. Why? Why? Did they cancel it cause someone moved into the position of the previous executive who green-lit the show and wanted to cancel it to put a less expensive show in its place. So before the series ever went live he was working to have it canceled and finally, after 10 episodes were televised it was canceled. They aired after it was canceled the original 2-hour pilot and 3 episodes were never aired except somewhere in Europe over the summer.
Jayne is actually right though. Sure, there’s “good people” out there who would give money away as you said, but nobody is going to steal $60,000 for the express purpose of giving it all away. But also (at the risk of spoilers) pay attention to what he said there: “money they could use.” We have more backstory on Jayne yet to come!
You aren't quite sure about Shepherd Book because he seems to have a mysterious past. Most of the characters have a mysterious past that Joss Whedon intended to reveal during the first two or three seasons. There have been hints about most of their pasts that you haven't caught and there will be a lot more still to come. In past episodes you didn't catch the fact that slavery is common among the outer planets or that Kaylee sometimes seems to be preoccupied by sex. All of these hints are to peak your interest and say to yourself "Where did THAT come from"? The next episode is the favorite of many of us because episode 8 is where most of us fell in love with the crew and the series.
The thing you're feeling and not understanding is a state of existence, you're becoming a "Browncoat". Even if you're not sure if you understand what it means, you know that it is happening. You will come to love Jayne, as you find out more about him- he's trying to become Mal, but he doesn't understand what that means either. And Jayne is what Mal fears he might have become.
16:33i think simon meant, that he would never take advantage of a drunk Kaylee, as he, more or less, sees mal as her father figure... and on top of that, i would think he still is slightly drunk and on the brink of a massive hangover.... so he fumbles his words....
🎶So he said “you can't do that to my people” He said “you can't crush them under your heel”🎶 ... Sadly, FOX Studios COULD do that to "Firefly" and fans. "Firefly" was doomed before it even aired. New management swept in and canceled everything set in place from old management. They pulled every dirty trick and got Firefly canceled.
Your Playlist order for this Series is back to front. Loving your Reactions though. Its just harder to watch them when the Playlists are out of order, if you know what I mean.
But the people who do the flying are called pilots, so "piloting" is still correct. Actually, "flying" applies more to moving through atmosphere, so "piloting" is more correct.
“Does anyone else have this feeling?”
Every one of us, Inna, every gorram one of us!
Yes. That.
true....
and welcome to the browncoats....
A new browncoat is born when they sing, "A Man they call Jayyyyyyne!!" by heart at a moments notice.
Yup. There's a fun DVD extra of Adam Baldwin singing the song - it's probably on UA-cam, but don't watch it until you finish the series. For Reasons.
That moment in time when you realize that you're in love with the series, and with these characters, is moment you have officially become a Browncoat. Welcome to the community.
That feeling you're having, falling in love with Firefly? That's you becoming a Browncoat. Welcome to the Browncoats.
yeah most people who react to Firefly tend to become what is called a "Brown Coat"....welcome to the Brown Coats Inna!
It makes me happy that you're digging this series so much. It's how we all felt when we were introduced to it. Welcome to the Browncoats Inna 🤓👆

This episode provided Jayne with some much needed character development, and created a bit of sympathy for Jayne. It showed he was capable of regret and introspection.
you singing the song was fun 😄 enjoyed your reaction 👍☺
У Инны за весь эпизод три раза было выражение лица в точности, как у Саймона😂
С отдельным удовольствием буду ждать следующие 4 эпизода))

I liked it from the very first episode. I love each character and they all make the show great.
Most episodes are great, but Jaynestown, Our Mrs Reynolds, and Trash are the funnniest episodes imho.. always love to see reactions to those three :)
Best reaction to the Jayne song I have seen.
😂❤️

Browncoat status confirmed!
Here we see some of Inara's other training as a Companion. She's basically a counselor for those who need counseling, among other things.

Did you see how wide Fess was man-spreading under the table as he faced his father at the end?
"Jaynestown": Mal takes a smuggling job, while Inara is on a mission.
This is the first time we've seen Inara flummoxed, as you said.
“Not what I expected . . .” One of the attractions of this show. So much of storytelling in TV is formulaic and predictable. Inna is officially a browncoat. Welcome aboard!
12:55 I can tell you what happened, you became a Browncoat.
10:38 when you have a bad hair day

There was also the network interference from before it ever aired.
Symbols and Song, and another very enjoyable reaction. I love this episode, it's one of my top 5 of the series: "The Hero of Canton, the Man They Call Jayne!"
Thanks Inna, and good news... it gets better!!
Seeing you become a Browncoat has been so cool. You will love the rest of the series and the movie. Inna is a beautiful woman, but she was so super cute when she was laughing at the hero of Canton song.
You "fly" a spaceship.
Pilot is also correct.
Welcome to the Independence, Browncoat. 🫡 Your reactions are a sweet highlight of my day.❤️ More chaos to come!
Thank you ❤️

You're never supposed to "like" Jayne.
Says who?
Think of Jayne as an acquired taste that makes you feel sick afterward.

2:40 Neither. Flying a space ship is the correct term.
But the people who do the flying are called pilots, so "piloting" is still correct. Actually, "flying" applies more to moving through atmosphere, so "piloting" is more correct.
she's talking about herself when she talks about the bible not making sense
Aaah! That makes sense, I didn’t connect the dots right away
@@InnaSoloTV she's trying to be rational about it and make it fit but she needs a different kind of logic
one thing about River- she has been made abstract- she is scared of symbols like Books hair
